the mini-turbo stat is the best stat in mk8dx. mini turbos are what you get at the end of a drift (also called a drift boost). there are 3 levels: blue (mini turbo), orange (super mini turbo), and purple (ultra mini turbo).
@@nathanchen2824 yup. Every 40 coins. A random vehicle gets unlocked and they increse your speed by 0.6% per coin amd that speed increse applies to bullet bills, stars, mushrooms. Just anything you can think of
@@nathanchen2824it’s proven with a kart that takes the fastest route in all 3 laps vs a kart that goes for coins in the first lap, the coins giving boosted speed allowed in the 3rd lap to catch up
The stat is based on a characters size and weight, the smaller and lighter a character is the better their boost. Nintendo either thought people would just pick their favourite character anyway so it didn’t matter, or they thought it was obvious enough that people would figure it out on their own
Acceleration does not control the mini turbo stat. For example, leaf tires and sponge tires both have 6 mini turbo, but sponge tires have 1 less acceleration
@@jojobod People who push their religion on others deserve to be bullied. They can believe what they want but it's not ok to act as if their religion is the only one that matters.
@@Sqwivigyeah, maybe dont knock religion like that. I don't believe it either, but it's not some bullshit fairytail stuff, it has some good material in there.
@@theindie-vidual2188 : Oh right. Well I didn’t even know it was called that. Some friend of mine had it at some point and I liked it so I asked for the reference. He just said it’s called “mauzy cat”.
DS? My guy, have you ever seen top-level DD play? I'm not sure if 64 is the same, but DD literally gives you a whole ass second character that lets you build turbo faster lmao.
@@AgelessCharade My bad, I referred to DS because it was the first one with an online mode, and also my DD experience is limited to when I was extremely young before we sold our gamecube.
Listen dude, I have no idea how you popped up but the way you explain things makes my day and brings me such a good sense of nostalgia. I feel like I’m talking with my cousin when we were little figuring out strategies to smoke every guest out of the water, you’re great, keep doing your thing
Honestly I've always prioritized decent handling and traction over stupid speed levels. Extreme speed can make certain tracks frustrating to race on as making turns can be tough.
Video Ideas: But what ACTUALLY charges the mini-turbo? Distance? Time? Is it dependent on the angle? Mini-Turbo charge stages compared (purple vs orange vs blue) what is inside drift and which vehicles use it?
I don’t even have Mario kart yet for my switch but I binge watch your shorts and have so much knowledge compiled that I can dominate my friends when I get it
for people who dont know: snaking is drifting left and right in short distances like a snake moving slowly on the ground, usually to charge mini turbo in mario cart or getting drift points in other games
You need to do delayed drift and soft drift, and release the mini turbo almost instantly after it is charged. It's quite precise, and messing up just once will lose you tons of time. That's why I don't snake online
Finally, a video that disproves the whole “heavier characters are better because they’re faster” mentality way too many Mario Kart players wrongly have. Glad to see I was right all along.
I main bowser/dry bowser in this game. I started with circuit special + standard wheels because i thought speed was the best. But now i switched to bowser/dry bowser pipe frame + standard wheels. What do you think about this combo ? I think it's pretty good because i gain a lot of mini turbo while still having good speed but i wanted your opinion on that combo
That combo is definitely useable, although the mini turbo is a bit low for some advanced tech. For example, on mushroom gorge you need to charge up a mini turbo in a small time frame to do the gap jump. I imagine it would be tough with your combo. Other than specific mini turbo tech, your combo is definitely good! Another thing to keep in mind is that bagging becomes better if you have more speed, and frontrunning becomes worse. Check out my no handling video if you want to see that concept in action: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I_EFtO1fYkY.html
Honestly I wish they hadn't added a bunch of different stats to things so that people could just play with characters and carts they liked the look of without being at a potential disadvantage
Also make sure you play a kart with lots of mini-turbo And after all this tech, the best way to charge mini-turbos is with practice. If your doing bad lines, you won't get mini-turbos even with high mini-turbo combos.
Played Mario Kart DS and one of the best karts in the game was Dry Bone's tank. Had the best traction and handling in the game, but was one of the slower ones. Didn't really matter because it could snake boost like no one else.
I haven't played this so it could be different but in any driving game it seriously helps to drive a racing line and go into your corners as best you can to exit as best you can otherwise even with a boost you losing time from what you can potentially get!
With high speed, you have low acceleration. Thus, on tracks with lots of turns, you'll never reach maximum speed. And even if you do manage to reach maximum speed, all it takes is one item or wrong move to ruin that.
I was prepared for the smoothest loop ever seen to man when you started snaking. I'd be disappointed, but who can stay at odds with such quality content
In an actual race there are items that'll keep hitting you too so you wouldn't be going at full speed so you also need acceleration to get to full speed sooner
The funny thing is, I didn’t even know about this, but I still used slow vehicles simply because of the acceleration stats and because of traction I don’t really care about speed and this explains why I always win
Man, Yoshi weight class now has the exact same mini-turbo as toadette and Wendy class with much better speed! Now it’s causing them to be so much more popular.
Ive been using this combo forever and always waaaay ahead of everybody. Had no idea this whole time judt saw the acceleration one time and just thought it was good.
I'm still gonna use Waluigi with high max speed because it was never about meta, it has only ever been about the WAH. Also I can't be bothered with snaking and I just in general want to get some distance early while everyone in the back is too busy beating each other up with items, also I only play with casual friends, also WAH.
For anyone wondering. The highest mini turbo stat is baby Mario and the bullet bike. But the best is yoshi and the teddy bear. Cus baby Mario is 6 speed and 20 mini turbo. And the yoshi is 12 speed and 18 mini turbo. (Please correct me if I'm wrong cus it's been awhile since I check the stats
Back when game theory wasmore grounded in science behind games i believe its said that each character actually has weight distribution to them meaning the bigger characters would obviously get a smaller less powerful boost were as a child can be easily yeeted therefore a bigger boost
Anti gravity boost also seems to be affected by miniturbo stat, and while trick boost doesnt seem to be affected by mini turbo stat its also not affected by speed so in excitebike miniturbo vehicles are still better then speed vehicles as they are equally fast on the straitaways because of the tricks but the mini turbo vehicle is faster at the turns because of the drift boost
Idk about antigravity boosts because those are relatively less useful, but trick boosts are absolutely affected by mini turbo. That's why excitebike has a mini turbo combo for world record.
