It's always fun to shoot and drive cars that we all recognize and this one was incredible to drive! This is the only survivor 440 R/T Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard. Of the 17 hero Chargers left this is the only one that is a true 440 R/T car. This is a true piece of American muscle car history and as iconic as it gets. No, we didn't jump it or get any air but plenty of burnouts and donuts to keep you guys happy.
Sit back and enjoy the ride!

The executive producer of the Dukes of Hazzard, Paul Romeo Picard was my maternal grandmother's first cousin so that means he's my first cousin twice removed. Paul's father Romeo Joseph Picard was my 2nd great uncle and was my great grandfather's older brother. I even have old family photographs that has both Paul's parents in them his father Romeo and his mother Irene. I've also gotten in touch with his sister's granddaughter and grandson just recently. Where they told me that Paul's sister Claire is suffering from the early stages of dementia today and she's still living today in Maryland. I never met Paul himself growing up but I do know some of Claire's grandchildren and her children did know the man personally and has met him. The reason for that is the Picard family never had good family reunions both when my mother or when I was growing up. So myself or my mother never got to know anyone from her mother's side of the family all that much since they never once got together when I was growing up. Also I never once remembered ever seeing any extended family member from my Picard family ever coming to my grandmother's house not once when I visited her when I was growing up but only I got to know her mother my great grandmother only at her home and that was it. But I do think it would've been nice to have met my grandmother's cousin Paul before he died in Italy of Pancreatic Cancer in 1994. But the thing was we always did know about my grandmother's cousin Paul growing up because back then my grandmother did like to brag about Paul being the executive producer of the Dukes of Hazzard television show back in the late 70s early 80s according to my mother. The plus thing was I wasn't born until the end of the year of 1984 by the way so I was very little and I was almost 10 years old when Paul died and living in Arizona at that time.

When the Dukes of Hazzard was pulled from the airwaves a few years back for inciting 'racism,' Tom Schneider was heart broken, to say the least. I agree with Tom: There was nothing racist about that show whatsoever, and there wasn't. The show was pulled over the Stars and Bars on the hood, but - to this day - The Cosby Show is still on Amazon Prime, and we see how things turned out for Bill Cosby.

Fun fact, only a few of the cars had a roll cage and only a few had welded doors, most would actually open. They switched from smaller bull bars to larger bull bars because at some of the filming locations other vehicles would get stuck so they would use the general lee to push them. A larger bull bar meant less of the car would get damaged so that’s why after the first couple of episodes they switched to larger bull bars.

Wish I had your job, hahaha!!! Wow, this car is So special! I'm glad he knew All that cool trivia! This, by the way, is one of the 1968 dressed General Lee's. No taillights in the rear valance, no sidemarkers are always '68s. Another cool thing is that it's a column shift car! That's Cool! I know some trivia but I learned some Great things!!! That's quite awesome to think of a day when this car could be bought for $1600 bucks! And a Lot of people Hate The Dukes for what happened to the said 321 Chargers, but like he said: they were 10 years old. I'd wreck a 10 year old car and not give it a second thought as well... Hahaha, now, maybe that's why 1968 Chevelles kept popping up in a handful of episodes. Going to make me appreciate those cameos more from now on! This was just Perfect!!! Oh, one thing he didn't mention was that they dyed the tan in, in the cars used from late season 5 forward. It came off looking more beige... This is why the mirror matches the paint in this car, which usually would have been black with the neck chrome. I can't say Thank You, enough! Thanks for showing off *The* General Lee, Hahahaha! Awesome!!!! And, it sounds bitchin' too, hahaha!

During making the general lee they used a mixture orange paint thrown together and they used tape for the flag on the top. A lot of the Chargers had 318, to a 440 engine. The roll cage wasn't completely in the car during filming. They added it for detail and looks. Remember during filming they would have the car on a camera rig.sometimes towed or pulled the car. Some of them had no.windshields . still a great show always loved it. Also the horn wasn't an air horn. It was originally an electronic horn made back in the 70s it had a different sound in the show. If you can find any remaining electronic horns grab them it's worth it.

Jason Peter's, just wondered what do you mean about the door handles? Ok I'm a former Grneral Lee owner, it would suck major ass if the doors were really welded shut. Its murder on the door skin, the door and your back. Plus how would you shut the windows if it was raining or you wanted to lock it up? I would always get a good laugh when I'd go to a car show open the door to get out and a grown adult would spaz out that I did'nt go through the window. I'd still own my lee had it not have been stolen. If you get the chance. I highly recommend getting one it is a huge blast all the time.

When Warner Brothers sold the 17 cars, they kept one car that went on to star in the reunion movies and the 2005 remake! Its currently on display as part of the Warner Brothers Studio Tour! Even if the car that WB still has isn't a 440 RT, would the fact that it went on to appear in the movies make it more desirable than this one? While some might argue that it is, it is not likely to end up in private hands. This is arguably the most desirable General Lee that Chris from Chrome Cars could buy...

My wife's Uncle, Larry West (West Signs in Roswell, GA still there today) hand painted the first 7 or 8 General Lee cars for the show before Warner Bros. moved over to vinyl decals for quicker turnaround as the show picked up production pace. We've got some cool photos, etc. Uncle Larry went to high school with John Schneider and it was a small network back then. He's done so much stuff over the years, all the way up to current with Fast & Furious and all other types of movie productions. There are so many stories! It was also cool to see his work being uncovered and restored on things like General Lee #1 (the opening credits jump car), which was saved from a Metro Atlanta junk yard back in 2011 I believe, and eventually sold to Bubba Watson via Barrett-Jackson (Google for the story). Uncle Larry's health is failing these days and other family members run the business, but I thought I'd comment here because it is always cool to see stuff like this out there!
