Raxx, this is like attending a master class with a professor with a PhD in Diablo and the prof winds up being super chill & cool with a great sense of humor. Thank you for this. 👍😊
The thing I like about Raxx is his clear and direct advice: “Do THIS, upgrade THIS, augment THIS.” It really shows the level of thought that goes into his videos. A lot of other pro gamers just give you some loose guidelines and say “You might do this, but it’s up to you, maybe it’ll work.”
The fact that he has to explain it in play school style is worrying to be honest. and what is up with pro gamers? are you offended or jealous, or both? they know the game by reading the ingame library, they had no teacher, they learned by testing, reading and doing math. thats how it works buddy. dont start to run when you didnt even try to walk first. everything he explained is ingame readable its not magic my friend you just have to open your eyes. Goes for everything in life as well. Or do you go blindfolded everywhere you go with no exploring and finding a way of best success? :-D kinda stupid if you do so, but no offense! An example of me trying a new game is always open the option menu and look what is there and what to optimize, make keybindings, then read the ingame needed things to survive dmg, how can gain life back or other form of defensive option that that game has to offer, what weapon types are in there, wich form of dmg types, how to scale my dmg, is it dot dmg, is it caster or attack, melee or range/short/mid range. like thats basic stuff you have to know in order to play. i dont understand why you guys are playing, when you dont even read what the game has to offer. :-D
@@axzantos4968 This is all true, but has nothing to do with his ability to explain strats. You can learn by yourself, but it's easier if some shows you. Like you said it applies to life as a general rule, but it depend on how much, let's say resource you have (time, money etc) Do I want to spend 800 bucks for Level 1 and 2 of CSS for a weekend, or I want to learn all that shit covered by those 2 levels only by watching the movie (Twist of the wrist II) for like 3 months, for example?
I only started playing last season and than I didn't know augments existed. I can't explain how much my damage has improved this season from using them. This video was very high quality and informative for a newer player like me. Thank you.
Note: 3:35 Watch him mouse over the gems (mutilation guard at 3:57 is a good example) and in the top right you'll see either Rank # or Rank #/#. Rank #/# indicates how high it can go. If it's not there it can scale up to the max.
Hey Rax, as a long-term-Diablo Player, I wanna say that I´m really thankful to play this game while watching mostly all of your guides and obvs the guides on Maxroll. Thanks for all of your work and love in those topics. Glad to see, even the game is so old right now, to have your guides still on my side. Thanks and wish you the best! Cheers
0:35 - Vow 0:45 - Basics - What is an Augment? 2:29 - Should I level my main gems first or my augment gem first? 3:26 - Which gem should I use for augments? 4:27 - When should I augment? 4:45 - Which character should I augment on first? 5:15 - What level of gem should I augment at? 5:45 - Can I replace an augment? 6:11 - When should I replace an augment if ever? 6:56 - Which piece should I augment first? 9:08 - Should I augment bad rolled ancient at the beginning? 10:32 - How to get duplicate legendary gems? 12:38 - I don't have enough gems to augment. What should I do? 16:18 - How to augment? 20:18 - How good augments are?
Should have mentioned that if you don’t have a great ancient and you’re looking for an upgrade, as soon as you invest the time and resources into augmenting the not-great ancient a better one will drop.
This was actually insanely helpful. I've never augmented before and I've played the game off and on for a few years and never knew what it was. I'm grinding this out ASAP.
I never augmented because I was afraid of "wasting" a gem on ancients that weren't god rolls. I didn't even consider leveling a gem that I wasn't wearing for the purpose of augmenting. Funny how something so simple just didn't cross my mind.
Rax, I’m just getting back into d3 after a few years. I was never all that srs abt it. I played campaign and didn’t try adventure mode for lack of an understanding of it. So I didn’t know half of the more in-depth terminology or “things to do” like greater rifts, augs, reforging, etc. Your vids are simple to understand, not condescending, you don’t mumble or talk monotone like some other d3 RU-vidrs I tried to watch… Thanks for the great vids and guides. It’s helped a ton.
Jesus. I've been playing this game since it came out and never had any idea of this concept. Guess I'm going to have to make up some lost time this weekend. This was great Raxx; thank you for always being so generous with your knowledge and experience.
Just started season 24 about 7 days ago, previous played was season 21. This video is a killer! I augmented my gear IMMEDIATELY (level 100) after I saw this video. Key in this video: 1. I solemnly swear I will augment my character. 2. Don't worry about it, TRUST! Thanks Raxx, You've got yourself sub!
Thank you so much for this! I don't know where I read/heard it before, but I was always in the mindset that augmenting is only after you've already gotten near perfect items. This makes way more sense and will assist me in my progression. I started the season late so I'm looking forward to getting my Augments done!
This is a great video Raxx, now everytime someone asks me about augs I will link this video! My personal preference is always gem 100, 120 then 140+ for augs. Thanks again!
As always, thanks for the information. You're vids have transformed my approach to the game and improved my experience exponentially. Now I can play with confidence instead of frustration.
i just started diablo 3 again. when it came out i was just doing bullshit untill i had enough. now i actually want to know how this game works and how to be superpowerful like all the youtubers and streamers. Good thing i found you man, what a legend.
This guy is perhaps the smartest content creator o have ever seen. Everything he does is simply smarter than everyone else. I love watching his content.
Thanks Raxx for confirming what I had already learned about augmenting. You have truly compiled what is known about augments, great job. Hope you have as much fun with season 24 as I am having and will have.
Hey Raxx! Thanks for the content as always! Mutilation Guard can't go to 150. When there is a cap, it's written on the top right corner. Mutilation Guard has a "Rank 0/100" there.
I just came back to D3 having no idea what is going on, since i stopped playing before grifts came out. This has been the most helpful guide to understand how things work. Just straight up pin point advice on what to do, with no ifs or maybes.
When this came up in my feed I got super excited. Love your videos that explain things like this. Great video, appreciate the content. My go to source for Diablo info
I had been waiting to aug because I didn't have enough stat gems. I knew I could convert them, but I didn't have 9. I didn't even think about broken crown on follower, good tip!
First off...Raxx, I do solemnly swear to augment my gear in the beginning. I did not adhere to this before watching this video today but I trust you 100%. 7:14 is great advice as well as the whole video and I am grateful for your teachings, Raxx. You have made me a happier player with your Maxroll, Twitch and RU-vid content. I can't say thank you enough. I'm piperAKAmatt(Twitch) that mentioned in your stream a few weeks ago, that I admire you because you are like a machine(In the absolute most positive way) and that your dedication to spreading knowledge has literally made mine, and countless others', D3 experience more fun. That's freakin priceless. I just started playing S 27 and am employing many tips and advice that you have given us/me over the years. When I first heard you say certain things, I was like "DUH. Why didn't I think of that." Cheers to you, my blue hooded homie!
Already knew most of this info from playing this game so long but still a fantastic video going through it for those who need it. Loved the Jay Wilson comment too!
just getting back into D3 after not playing since 2019 so these videos are great for info and as a refresher on how to play, thanks for the great info!
Again a great video. I knew all of the stuff, but i love to see how you explain those things in such a detail. Every new player who saw your videos, immediately get better instead of getting frustrated. Keep up the good work :)
Amazing as always, id love an op af guide to stats, like additive, multiplicative, the diffs between, how to tell or find out whats what, dim returns, etc, that would be A M A Z I N G, but there might v well be one already and also would take a v v long time I'd expect, your vids are still the best things to listen to at work, where I can go back when im home to relisten, and actually watch them again, wish there were more people like you, but none could come close as it is, thanks mate
This is only my 2nd week playing this game and omg the difference this makes I spent a couple days grinding gem lvls (only to 100) but man does it help
It's actually really hard to teach things that are basic knowledge to yourself to others who don't know them. Raxx, you do a fantastic job here. A diablo player on such a high level trying (and succeding) to help newer or more casual players is a rare gem indeed. I'll show this video to a friend of mine - he's playing games in a very casual (I would go as far and say... unthinking) way. He has put countless hours in D3 and still doesn't know what stats can be on which items, what stats to reroll and so on. He just never thinks about it. I am sure he can learn a lot from watching your videos. Thank you for caring about even the casual or newer players!
i somehow knew all of this, yet actually knew none of this.... all the information in 1 video and showing how much difference it makes at the end was really helpful.
I did not learn anything on this video but i still apreciate the quality of it :) You give very good hints and you explained everything very well. Couln'd do it better. If someone didn't know how to augment, they know it now. Keep up the great work.
Finding this a year late, I have a Meteor wizard who is stuck on GR 130 in season 28 with all of the shrine nodes filled besides having pets pick things up. Never augmented items, not really. Now I know why I can never do the great damage I see streamers doing! Thank you Raxx!!!
It's so beautiful...the importance of augmentation can't be over-stated enough thank you! Another good counter-argument too "I want to save it till I find GG ancient/primal" is great then when you get that GG ancient/primal you can use your next tier 20+ to put it on..now put it on your not so GG ancient, *NOW* :)
A awesome thing in Raxx’s videos are that he takes and answers all the question you actually have so you don’t need to go and watch multiple different videos on the one topic you can just come here and it’s all answered. You know have a very clear understanding of what you need to do.
Raxx, this video is incredible. It really left no question in my mind about how to go about augmenting. I'd love it if you could do something similar with blood shards. I'm at the point with my Monk where I have all the items for the build and I'm starting to augment my gear, but not everything is ancient and I'm not sure what the best approach is for the shards. Currently I'm dumping them into a 31 witch doctor to turn into puzzle rings so I can fund the GR gem levels. I can't imagine this is the best idea, but trying to force a specific item as ancient from gambling hasn't really paid off. What's the optimal thing to do with the blood shards?
This has been so informative, I really like how you not only say what to do specifically but why to do it . Great content my friend, you have yourself a new sub. Keep up the great work
Thanks, Raxx, for the great guide!!! Running from season to season, I look into augmenting my ancients, but jothing is sweeter than augmenting primals!
You don't even need to do that. Just have your alt hold the gem in their inventory. As long as it's no in your chest or the characters inventory that you're doing the GR with.
Great advice and very instructive as always Raxx. This also showed me how much easier it is to upgrade gems and deal with paragons on PC compared to console!
Thanks Rax, now I freaking know how to aug correctly and when and which gems should use. Thanks a lot, since i started seeing your vids, i got to 100Gr, learnt so freaking much. The only thing I can't say is that i got higher in the leader board, because i don't have ps plus..but still...my chars are a lot more stronger than before starting to see your vids.. oh and now i can complete all weekly Challenges thanks to your guides :) keep up the amazing work.
Damn raxx, I just learned like 3 new things from this video. Glad it popped up in my feed. I've casually played about 6 seasons now and didn't know some of this.
This video needs to be shown to every player when the start the game, because I've played for a while, but until I saw this I had no idea what augmenting even did
Even as a veteran I still watch guides just in case I'm missing something. Solid guide and an extra tip you might wish to add if ever updating. IMHO I would only re aug a piece once I have augmented all pieces. Eg your last piece getting a 130 aug is more power the upgrading 4 pieces from 100 to 130. Cheers Rax gl with ya ssf.im hoping they may add this as a dlc in the future. Yea I'm dreaming 😌
You can also put the legendary gem in the inventory of another character to trick Diablo into believing that you don't have that legendary gem. That way you prevent loosing the gem if your game crashes or disconnects from server.
Very underrated channel, not huge on Diablo 3 other than casual but this video was ridiculous format to explain all the needed questions in great examples, Awesome work and can't wait to see the channel grow, what other games will you be doing content for?
However redundant it may be!!! Thank you THANK YOU!🤘🏻 quick I’m 47 yr old carpenter, not that makes a lot of difference. I’m trying to say , until about 16 months ago , I was not a gamer or really a fan. My son got me to play Diablo. He is away and in his absence, I bought D3 eternal collection. I’m hooked. 100% I seem to really like DEX character, played monk FOREVER, finally with your guidance I have a DH, w/ Maraud. Seem to feel TOTALLY. Stuck at , GR 50 paragon 3-400 Any PARTICULAR video to watch? Maybe I’m asking wrong questions.
If you look at mutilation guard, it tells you 0/100, so it can be leveled to 100. For players with connection issued, gems might also be put in the inventory of an alternate character (if present). This will still throw a new legendary gem of that type. One more thing: The level of the gem will equal the amount of paragon it simulates. So, a lvl 100 gem used for an augment will give 500 main stat, just as 100 paragon in mainstat would. That is an easy way of picturing what augmenting really means in D3.
I always thought I should wait for the best drops to augment, never really considered the fact that the augments will help get those drops faster and more consistently. Gonna aug tf outta my Barb as soon as I'm off work lol
even tho im already augumented and know diablo pretty well, i watched the entire thing to see if I didnt know something. unfortunetly not, but maybe on the next one! Thanks for the advice!
Raxx, Thank you for the vids. It is difficult for me to do what I need, to achieve what I want. You might say that is easy, hence why I say you are smart. Lemme simplify my dumbness to you, I came to understand it when you taught me how to play GoD DH. I Knew That I needed to maintain the stacks, I knew I needed to find a way to fire my primary skills at intervals, I knew that I can't strafe while firing my primary skills, I know about force stand still. And when I tried to put two and two together all I got was a headache and gave up on GoD DH. When you said "I keybinds my force stand still on my spacebar and constantly hold space" I smacked myself in the head. If I had a nice mahogany table, I would have use that instead. TLDR: Thanks for the great classes and making them so understandable.
