Just wanted to add a note that I finally received my copies. It took a little over two weeks to get to me from Germany to Colorado. Incredibly well packaged and so much fun to look at. The CD that came with it is fun, and I have not yet had a chance to play any of the albums. Totally looking forward to this, and totally recommend this to anybody who’s thinking they might be interested. Additionally, the books provide all of the published material from the company at the time plus posters, and cassette covers and other fun stuff. It would take years to get through it all.
V.O.D. is amazing and this edition fantastic! I strongly recommend you the also new Anestis Logothetis V.O.D. box. Astonishing music! I know his daughter, a great lady and wonderful painter.
@@Michael45RPM Terrific news! I think this Logothetis box will make the composer much more known, as he fully deserves to be! He is so much worth exploring! for me he is as important as Christou, almost as important as Xenakis. Kudos to V.O.D.!
Wie immer sehr geil. Frank ist der beste. So viel Liebe wie er da reinsteckt, unfassbar gut. Ein großes Dankeschön an ihn und seine herausragende Arbeit. Hab meine Quartz Boxen auch schon bekommen.
I've wanted these since i first heard one of the cassettes in Grateful Dead parking lot in 1990. Found some more terrible copies a decade later. Thank for the info.
I've heard bits and pieces of the music by these artists. I really like it. I wish I could justify plunking down $500+ for this set. Never heard of David Toop before watching your review, but I've enjoyed all his work I've listened to. Thanks for turning me on to these great avant garde artists.
Great video, thanks a lot for sharing this! VOD! Beautiful craftsmanship 👍 (The John Bender Box Set is done in this book-alike style, beautiful)! Amazing announcement, David Toop Interview, wow, didn’t he also make some documentaries (Björk, Eno…)? Really happy you have him on the channel, will be for sure a very interesting interview! I’m in🤘Got the Tape Works 1986-1993, hadn’t the time to listen to it yet, looking forward for your video tomorrow 👍
First of all thanks for all your nice reviews! I love your channel. With this boxset I am really confused. I found some soundfiles and these are FAR AWAY from what I call music. It is just terrible noise. Or somebody is destroying something in the background. No idea. Do I listen to the right files? If yes, is this something you can enjoy listening?
Michael I feel the time is right for you to do a Top 10 favourite vinyl box sets video! (I hope the Bob Dylan Fragments 10 LP sneaks in there, the music is unbelievably great!)
Michael, with all these new records & huge box sets do you find yourself running out of shelf space? I know I have some planning to do in expanding my storage. Thanks.
Michael when will you get the most amazing boxset I ever bought that is a work of art both musical and artistically? I'm refering of course to one of the best rock/metal albuns of all time: smashing pumpkins mellon collie and the infinite sadness? It's amazing! A real tasty journey.
It seems to me that in the top loading book form it is not easy to get an album out of its sleeve. ? I think side loading book form would be better but for me i prefer individual jackets. Holding the jacket, and sleeve if it has photos or lyrics, is a very important part of the experience.
@@Michael45RPM That may be, but I would imagine if they're going to do an interview with you help them shift these 400 EURO sets, you may be getting some sort of kickback. A lot of you 'audiophile' reviewers are starting to get free vinyl to promote on your channels and help these companies shift records. Hey, I get it, but it should be disclosed at the beginning of every video and I sincerely think that anyone that gets free vinyl should NOT be reviewing that release because their review is going to be biased whether they are aware of it or not. Let's see how fast the free vinyl stops if you don't give their releases a positive review. Just sayin, respectfully.
@@independentfilmandhealing Hard as it may seem in our ever dominantly commercial age but some people actually simply thrive on enthusing about such things as Michael does here. There doesn't have to be any kind of a 'kickback' for everything in life, just sharing the joy of discovery, the thrill of such great productions as such. The label itself works on very low profit margins, especially given how expensive a production like this actually costs in real terms in 2023. As such there's nothing for Michael to disclose apart from his love of new music. I share his enthusiasm too, and no I don't earn a cent from positivity 🙂
