MC-21, a modern Russian single-aisle twinjet airliner. The aircraft is set to be the answer to the Boeing 737 MAX and the Airbus A320 due to its aircraft performance characteristics and cost-effectiveness. Its main advantages are advanced aerodynamics and the newest engines along with the extended application of composite materials.
MC-21 is the first Russian-made narrowbody commercial passenger aircraft designed in the post-Soviet era. The program was launched in 2007 and is headed by Irkut, a subsidiary of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation. The flight prototype was rolled out in June 2016. MC-21-300 is a baseline variant that has maximum take-off weight of 79,250 kg and can carry up to 211 passengers for a distance of up to 6,000 km.
Irkut says that MC-21 aircraft is superior to existing counterparts in terms of flight-technical characteristics and efficiency. Its major contributor to the enhancement of flight-technical characteristics is the composite wing. The share of composites in MC-21 design exceeds 30%. According to the designers, calculated reduction of direct operational costs for MC-21 is 12-15% lower than for counterparts.

Regards from Sochi, Russia ! For information: The MC-21 is a Russian medium-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft. The MC-21 family program is being developed by Yakovlev Corporation, together with the Yakovlev Aviation Design Bureau which is part of it. Perhaps in the future (after the start of serial production of aircraft) the MС-21 will be named - Yakovlev Yak-242 .

After the USSR's dissolution, Russia's aviation sector saw a decline but has since been making significant strides in a complex and sophisticated field. Since 2011, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 has been successfully operating in the commercial sector, , exemplifying the resurgence of Russian aviation. I encourage you to educate yourself on Russia's aviation history and its current advancements, including the Ilyushin and Antonov aircraft, known for producing some of the world's largest and respected cargo planes, alongside other notable entities like Beriev, Aviakor, Irkutsk Aviation, Sukhoi, Tupolev, Kuznetsov Design, Yakovlev, UAC, and more. Your lack of knowledge and predisposition to negativity reflect poorly on you, not on the reality of Russia's aerospace achievements. The country continues to build on its legacy as a pioneer in space exploration and aviation, holding numerous records and innovations. Russian rocket engines, known for their unparalleled power, are used globally, including in Western spacecraft. Moreover, Russia's leadership in hypersonic missile technology is undisputed, with capabilities the West has yet to match. Disparaging the Russian aerospace and aviation industries without acknowledging these facts only highlights ignorance. Instead of harboring resentment, perhaps take a moment to appreciate the advancements and learn something new. And maybe, for now, steer clear of certain other western aerospace products (Boeing MAX for example) to ensure you're around to see how global aerospace dynamics continue to evolve while witnessing the western demise as it unfolds infront of us as we speak.

Reality: The MC-21 is currently 13 years behind the original schedule for series production. Producer Rostec recently announced that no more civil aircraft (Mc 21, SSJ-100, Tu-214 etc) will be delivered before 2026. So far, it has always turned out that Russian aircraft are unreliable and far too expensive to maintain. Sukhoi SS100 has been in series production since 2010 to 2020 and has a market share of 0.0x% outside of Russia. Russian civil products are not at world market level - in any area! Like a developing country, Russia lives from the sale of its raw materials. 90% of export money comes from raw material, steal, aluminum etc.

Russian propaganda as always likes to say hop before they jump. Everything they plan to do is "innovative" and without "analogy" in the world😃 as Tavarish Putin says. This aircraft will be innovative when they sell 11289 airplanes as the Airbus A320, and carrying more than 11.5 billion passengers and having accidents with only 1505 fatalities. The same applies to Boeing. If you look at the accident and fatalities records of USSR/Russian-built airplanes you will be surprised by the large number of accidents and fatalities from a relatively small number of aircraft built. Good luck with the "most innovative" aircraft😃. By the way how "innovative" could be something that started in 2007 and is still not ready to fly? For comparison, the Airbus A320 Neo development started almost the same time, in 2006. Until now they have already produced 3163 airplanes and have orders for 10354 aircrafts. The Russian MC-21 has a total of 175 orders, all from Russia and only one from Azerbaijan. The aircraft was denied European certification on March 14, 2022.

In each MC-21 video here on YT I see these comments on its "correct" English spelling. It's useless to appeal to the original Russian letters. Internationally it will still be known as MC (EmSee), due to the fact that the original cyrillic letters exist in latin alphabet. You should accept that. And by the way, it's only good for the brand - it's the same for the domestic and international market.

There are a few problems. The PD-14 is not ready yet for commercial use. In comparison to the PW engines it is less efficient. The active stick steering system comes from France. The composite material comes from the USA. The PW engines are from the USA. All that is under sanction by now. The MC-21 cannot compete with the A320 and the C919. Therefore, it will not be a product that can be sold outside of Russia. This makes it virtually dead.

All Soviet/Russian aircrafts always were obsolete copies of western models and technologies. This "innovative" plane is the first attempt to use the compound instead of aluminum for the body and wings, like Boeing 787. But, surprisingly, Russia cannot buy this material abroad anymore. The technology needs to stolen and factory needs to be built. All of that will happen, undoubtedly. The quality and endurance of the future output of non-existing factory is a huge question. Question number two is the absence of good engine. There is nothing even remotely comparable with get engines produced for Boeing and Airbus. Thus, MS-21 project most likely will be the failure and catastrophe just like the previous SuperJet 100.
@user-rh3wg4ph9b

Soviet and Russian aircrafts can not be a copy, just because nobody gave a documentation or a piece for disassembling. What technology in aviation was stolen by Russia? And why USA has researched soviet MIG planes? Russia already has created engine PD-14, and is working on other engines. SSJ is not a catastrophe. This was the good jet, the only mistake was the supply of parts. Now it is reworked and almost 100% domestic SSJ New.
