I love these games. It looks like it takes a lot of effort to make and coordinate, but the content is really entertaining and the production is super well done.
Man I started buying bane boost because of this tournament and now I’m an addict. RU-vid should really give harstem more adds as he really influences the things his fans buy. 👀👀👀👀
I'm with you, man. I-I just can't survive ten minutes without some bane boost. I-it's taking over my life! I-I gotta go to my Bane Boost's Anonymous meeting. Wish me luck!
harstem constantly: "waking up to the smell of coffee is the worst team name ever it has too many words i need to put a cap on length for next time" harstem, when speaking to the team: "it's a great name"
What a doomdrop! Spotted so early it might as well have been announced in all chat like it's Funday Monday. Just a perfect ending to an archon tournament, too many cooks leading to a completely botched defense. Team assignments at its finest.
I love seeing MaxPax in Cosplay on the pictures - the other have their boring sports t-shirts, but MaxPax... he really shows effort! Thank you Harstem for creating such an awesome StarCraft II tournament! I also liked the editing and the design very much.
This tournament was extremely entertaining to watch. Hearing the players' comms, their reactions, and their treatment of one another was very new and interesting. Seeing amazing executions and all the outplays was amazing. Please try and make more of this type of content!
This was such a fun tournament to watch! Getting insight into the players thoughts both before and during the game was great. It was really entertaining! I hope we get to see more seasons of Harstem's Archon Tour.
After the bullying it had to endure, I was very happy to see the cyclone succeed in life. Not only did it kill observers and zealots, it also shut down the warp prism. Good job, little buddy. Harstem didn't believe in you, but you showed him!
That's why harstem is my favorite carster. As professional he knows what he is talking about and he has the connections to the other tier 1 players and is able to plan something great like this
Really good series. WOULD LOVE more of this in the future! And that last game holy moly, this is why we watch archon! GG'S and thank you for hosting this amazing series
Harstem is legit hilarious and someone I think that would be fun to chill with in real life... "Tanks finally come unsieged. These guys haven't seen action for a long long time...longer than the average SC2 player." Haha ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l34hbcwpOSM.html
Dear Harstem, great series as a whole, you should really keep working on it it could be it's own genre and breathe new life into this game. I love the pervy sound peek o nthe each team during each maneuvre.
Great tourney! Archon mode is so fun as a viewer if you can listen to the players midgame! I hope there will be more if this be it 2 archon or 3 archon tournaments or even 2v2 tourneys! Cool idea
Just a fantastic tournament overall, and a hell of a series to finish it. I genuinely didn't know who was going to win for so long. Great format, and I would love to see a season 2 in the future!
Just want to repeat that you should do crowd funding for the next tournament. Let the supporters have access to the full replays and the communications between teams (make sure they know that ahead of time so they don't talk about anything private in the game), and you're good to go as far as incentives go. You'd need to really go over the details, but funding goals could include additional casters (two per game is optimal), better prize money to attract more players and add more games to the bracket, and beyond a certain point the overage should go towards the next tournament, to keep the ball rolling.
In the Phoenix fight MaxPax hotkeys the number of Phoenix to 1-shot another Phoenix, so he has like 3-4 control groups for the bunch of Phoenix on the screen, and maybe a control group for all of them.
that final doom drop from team coffee was 100% uthermal, yeah the one that dropped in front of the siege tanks instead of on top of the siege tanks was probably elazer but, you cant tell me the final drop wasnt uthermal
After watching the PvP... Seems to me like Maxpaxes engagements consist of positioning the phoenixes near the opponent and then just stack them defensively and let the opponent engage and disengage (assuming similar army size). He doesnt seem to poke in first, therefor he will always have better focus fire. He seem to heavily prioritize stacking over movement. I assume the more you stack the phoenixes the more likely the enemy army AI units will choose different targets in your tightly stacked group and spread the damage out over multiple units, resulting fewer or no units lost. (at 36:48 and 37:41) The opponent lost phoenix count/hp, because he let the phoenixes spread more and dmg output, when units in the back moved in and out of range. When both sides were focusing on stacking , it was equal trade and he had no advantage in the fight. I would probably? put move-command on rapid fire, just for phoenix wars. Basically, aggressive camping. Not really complicated. (Worth mentioning that the more you overkill a single phoenix, the less valuable target firing becomes, because you waste dmg output , although that is only relevant in longer direct engagements, which didnt happen here. Since humans cant control two groups at once, maybe in that case you'd want to have a split group for stacked target fire that doesnt overkill too much, while the rest of the army just fights straight up or with a few shift queues.) Catching a single phoenix in the middle, when jumping in from the fog of war was a different case of course, which has not much to do with the main phoenix engagements. (I dont really watch PvP anymore, because it became a terrible matchup with the superbattery, however based on this instance this was my perception.)
I also noticed it seemed like maxpax got advantages in trades often at the end of the engagement - the opponent would try to retreat, spreading out their phoenixes and leaving the ones at the back to take more damage without the bulk of the army returning fire.
First of all congratulations on one dezimillion subs. Second, as a great host you should probably have given uthemal a shout out for his channel. I know you directly allowed him to do it, but he seemed to be kind of shy about it. As he is very new to the game he might be even intimidated by your very successful RU-vid persona. I mean isn't your main the most successful and influential sc2 gaming channel? Uthermal might even somewhat copied your channel's bgwss. Well I don't know who came up with the idea of those challenges in the first place anyway. Also I think uthermal made the challenges into a different format so it is more like he took your channel as an inspiration. You probably should invite him for a 1 on 1 and as a former teammate and fellow Dutchman teach him a little about the game, no sc2 but being a youtuber. Again gz on 100k wp hf.
When Harstem said "build some disruptor," in match 2 I was like "noooooo the channeling will use them" and then realized I am watching a normal archon match...
Great games - would like to hear coms for the teams 100% of the time though. Its so interesting hearing them strategize it seems a shame to not be listening to them the whole time
I would have GG'd after that first trade with those Phoenixs where Maxpax got 3 to Showtime's 1 lol. Maxpax must have the perfect amount of Phoenix to do just enough damage (or a bit more) to kill another Phoenix on a single control group and then the same on a second control group and probably even the same on a third control group. That way he can tell his Phoenix to do 3 Phoenix worth of damage at once to 3 different Phoenix at once whereas Showtime is using all of his Phoenix to target fire one down at a time which is HUGE amount of Dmg that is being wasted each volley. I always wondered why more Pros didn't do this. Because it's true for all units except for ones that deliver a continueous stream of Dmg ie. BC and Void Ray and etc. Even Harstem says that he had "no idea what happened there." Target fire is ridiculously ineffecient with larger armies. It's really damn cool to see how frickin efficient Maxpax is compared to one of best Protoss in the world, Showtime. So cool! GG! After further observation, Maxpax DEF has them on two different control groups, you can see it in the way they move and how his group of Pheonixs shoots twice for Showtimes once. He tells the second group to hold position for a fraction of a second and then tells them to attack. Doing this perfectly DOUBLES his effective DPS! LOL That's insane! I'm am absolutely amazed that NONE of the three of the Old Timers noticed that Maxpax was doing this. After the match they were all baffled, Harstem too! Insanity!!
The initial 3 for 1 phoenix trade , did showtime just fail to right click on maxpax's phoenix's so his each chose diff targets for their shots while maxpax's all shot a single enemy phoenix each time ?
@@mariusevander2214 I am amazed at how MaxPax adjusted his phoenix ball. Did you see the two yellow hit-point phoenix that were angled ever so slightly to be farther away than the undamaged ones?
