As someone who grew up hearing “step out in faith,” “be bold,” “don’t get comfortable,” “if you’re not in pain you’re not in control of your body…” etc It took me YEARS to realize that I didn’t have to live life that way. Things I’m good at or passionate about? I spend more time on them and it takes effort, but it doesn’t *hurt.* My degrees, my art, parenting, etc. Being introverted, quiet, or even just respectful of other people’s space/beliefs isn’t “lazy” or “weak,” it’s just how I’m wired! And being an extrovert doesn’t make someone a better person. We’re all just people with beautiful variety! MLM talk reminds me so much of religious manipulation and I HATE it.
First of all: life is short, eat the dessert!!! Second, I would pay good money to hear her say, “I rushed to catch the bus so that I could gush over Usher.”
Singing along to the radio with my mom every morning and afternoon is a happy memory, I wouldn't want to miss out on that for professional development.
I was the little nerd-child who wanted to listen to the "music without words" in the car (university classical station) when it was just my mom and me. Fond memories!
Pronouncing Usher like "Ursher" is pretty common in the southern US. Iirc it became more mainstream when the song "Yeah" dropped. Most ppl consider it Southern Black American slang tho soooo...there's that lol
She and Christina had a training once where they told everyone to leave them shorter messages because they didn’t have time to listen to long voice mails. And that we should all only text them and not do voice messages bc it wasted their time. But they would be allowed to leave voice messages and not text bc their time is so valuable. Team members drove up to 10 hours to get to this training in person even though it was also live zoomed because B and C told us that people who really wanted to succeed would do whatever it takes to be live in front of 2 diamonds. It was a 3 hour meeting and then everyone had to drive home. They recruit using words like “we are a team and we are all in this together” but if you don’t get enough recruits and team members they will not include you or spend time with you. They only “pour into” people who are succeeding. And if you don’t recruit enough people, it’s only because you didn’t believe you would. So messed up 🤮
All I was thinking was ahhhh bless her little heart. Can’t pronounce usher, doesn’t seem to understand the word extraordinary and has no concept of an accurate graph/trajectory. I can’t even be mad at her.
The scream I scrumpt when she first said ersher.. and I was wondering why you didn’t pick up on it then BAM second time you caught on 😭 I’m so glad I’m not alone in this
Whenever people say "and that's a fact" and doesn't show the proof of it, it just grinds my gears. (Definitely when it isnt common knowledge/ elementary grade type facts.)
"You think you aren't smart, beautiful, talented enough..." me : "well no, see I KNOW I'm not mentally stable enough to get things done... How you gonna help me with that 😆!"
Soooo, the key to weight loss is to eat less food??? This is earth shattering information, thank you for enlightening me, Brittany, you hero! How are doctors, dieticians, & fitness instructors not sharing this info???? Hey Brittany, this just in, water is WET!
I needed Julie Jo's laughter this morning. It was a rough weekend and I needed something to bring my spirits up today. lol Thanks Julie for all that you do!
I agree with the comment above I think it’s the accent because she has consistent leitmotifs in pronunciation and enunciation. She also sometimes pronounces “here” as “her” or “hur” and she says “curb” as “cur-URb” which is what I mean by leitmotifs in this case. She does pronounce “here” as “here” sometimes so she goes in and out of it, like an accent waxes and wanes.
@@BimmieJames "Leitmotifs" is a musical term where a specific melodic theme represents a character, popularized by Wagner (Think the Imperial March representing Darth Vader). I get what you're saying, that she has a pattern to how she pronounces words, but "leitmotif" is the wrong term for it. Perhaps "diction" is more fitting?
@@unkemptsnugglepepper I know it’s music term but it’s defined as “In the context of music, a motif is simply a short musical idea, longer than a single note but shorter than an entire section.” “A motif in music is also referred to as a leitmotif. This could be a melody within a piece of music that is repeated, or a theme song.”
@@BimmieJames Even with your definition, it is still used incorrectly. It refers to melody specifically and melody is referring to change in pitch over time, not the pronunciation or spoken word.
She's doing what Ray Higdon teaches - read a book, or attend a presentation, then do a training on it. Doesn't matter if you only have a surface level understanding of the concepts - it's content, and that's all that matters.
So many so called Gurus always say be consistent until you win. As you said, thats not always the case so thats why I am writing a book called "Don't Quit, Pivot. I feel people need to be released from this idea that what they are doing has to work when in reality sometimes that pivot is what you need.
I never want anyone to feel ashamed just being around me. That's awful, not at all how I encourage people. I'm a natural cheerleader, I love when I see my family, friends and even strangers succeed in whatever they're goal is. That is so toxic to keep people in your life that make you feel ashamed by just existing.
Can we embrace eating dessert? She makes it sound like the choice is between skipping dessert and eating the whole cake. How about we eat dessert, but like, a reasonably-sized portion as part of a reasonably-balanced diet? It’s always all-or-nothing in HunLand, and it sounds absolutely exhausting.
This "all or nothing" mindset, coupled with shame for not doing "enough," is a recipe for disaster in every way possible. Also her fitness goals aren't sustainable long term... it's about consistency and doing habits that are maintainable over a lifetime. As someone who did extreme fitness and food restriction, it's haunted me now post injury knowing I can't "live up" to that prior version of myself. The lack of compassion for yourself too almost guarantees for failure because of the mental spiraling when you don't succeed the way you think you "should." Ugh.
This, like all other mindset trainings in MLM, is just flimflam meant to disguise the fact that MLM ia all about recruiting. It's about convincing the downline that their failure is a result of a crappy mindset or poor habits, rather than the intentional design of the model.
Um lady… over here! Lady, I can eat whatever I want and it doesn’t mean that it’s unhealthy. Eating what I want doesn’t mean I’m gonna gain/lose weight. What if what I WANT to eat is not an unhealthy choice? She’s clueless.
Ersher! 😂 😂 I am literally allergic to my own anxiety as a result of my childhood. It took a long time but, I had to create habits that helped me wrangle it through therapy, working with my allergist, and medications. I had to create a sort of "comfort zone" to deal with it and I am happier and healthier because of it. You don't constantly have to be pushing yourself to be successful. Everyone's version of success looks different depending on their goals and that's okay. It really chaps my cheeks when people like this lady try to put every one at the same starting line despite being in totally different races.
There’s a real irony in trying to manipulate people into staying stuck failing in an MLM by telling them that the non-MLM people around them want to stay stuck in mediocrity.
7:50 that's called a biased 19:09 Looking like some seperated DNA strands - also why do all her habits have to do with FOOD AND . . . Popcorn doesn't all pop at once. The water in the kernals expands as the heat creates steam. Then it will pop. Each kernal will pop at a different rate based on water content and heat. Literally did an experiment about this in Organic Chemistry.
I bet if you could graph the various times it popped you would have a Boltzmann distribution. You don't see the late end of the curve since you turn off the microwave to stop the bulk from burning, so to a regular (non-science) person it probably looks like it pops all at once since you end the "experiment" as soon as the highest density pop/time is reached. I guess I see both sides of the popcorn debate lol
The Usher mispronounciation is a cheeky colloquialism, popularized by Ludacris when they made the song "Yeah" together. It kinda stuck. Otherwise, yeah she doesn't seem very...uh....lol nevermind
So I just have to tell my anxiety that I don’t want to think about certain things anymore and then poof, all better? If only I had known this sooner! 🙄
This is so nit-picky, but the psychologist in me cannot stand the misuse of the terms “positive and negative reinforcement.” But that’s just the tip of the iceberg of things she got wrong 😅
So if you're willing to be uncomfortable for a long time, ignore family and friends who try to reason with you, are willing to get on all calls and work hard all the time- you are "extraordinary", but if you have any boundaries at all (family dinner over the nightly zoom calls), you "just" average/normal and can look forward to a decrease in lifestyle over the long run (at least according to her chart). What an incredibly terrible training.
You'll never be able to install good habits if there's no positive reinforcement. That's how our brains work. If the habit you're trying to implement only gives you negative reinforcement, you won't stick to it. You need to find a way to have positive reinforcement to make your new habit stick. It can be giving yourself a reward if you did it, like 30 min gaming if it's your thing. Anything can work. That's also why if you don't like physical exercice but need to implement exercices in your routine, it's important to find one that you'll enjoy. If running makes you miserable, you'll find all the excuses to not run. If you love to dance, find a dance class. You'll be more consistent with it. I don't know what book she read, but she either didn't understand it, or it was a bad one!
Her habits curve makes me think of gamblers lines of thought....yeah I'm not winning now BUT IF I JUST KEEP PLAYING, I'M BOUND TO STRIKE IT BIG EVENTUALLY
I agree, the results you see from habitually working hard are not exponential. Or did she draw logarithmic functions.. I always mix those up. Either way, over time results trend linear but ups and downs to happen. So its more like a stepwise function that generally trends linear. Sorry I couldn't help bringing some math into a dumb mlm training lol I also wanted to add being a good student does not include sacrificing every minute of everyday to higher learning. My major GPA is 3.95 and I'm a chem major, regular GPA is a bit lower because idgaf about some stuff lol. Yes I study consistently, but also some days I will stay home from class or watch tv all night. It is okay to take days off when you need it. I think that is what she is trying to say: "spend every waking moment on mlm, any one who says otherwise is just giving negative reinforcement for your good habits."
The popcorn analogy is poorly explained, but a pretty good example for forming a habbit. You feel like nothings happening and you have to struggle to do the new habbit, then you're seeing some change, but the habbit still takes a lot of effort, then you reqch a point where the habbit is ingrained and takes minimal effort and you see results more often, and then you don't really have to think about it and are a little startled by your sudden results.
All she is saying sums up too dont quit if you are not seeing the money returns and time freedom that you were promised. Sunk cost fallacy. No, i dont want to do uncomfortable things, and i dont have too.
1:56 She's just trying to be "hip". So, Ludacris started calling Usher "Ursher" after they collabed on two songs, "Yeah" & "Lovers & Friends" with Lil John... Usher took it all in stride and calls himself that sometimes.
Not sure if anyone else has said this in the comments yet but usher used to pronounce his name like that, and maybe still does. When he was first getting in music, he pronounced it as usher, but then years ago, he added an extra r to it. He starts most songs now by saying "Ursher baby..."
I don't like how in one part she said ” if you're not constantly doing something u don't wanna do then blah blah blah ur ordinary” like I'm sorry, no, (look at me talking like a Midwestern now) but that's not how I want to live my life, and also is it just me that thinks these reps be high AF on something, possibly sketchy supplements lol and when she's talking bout people making fun of someone for how they eat, she means HER type of people who starve themselves then shame u about not doing the same, and that's not normal, if these people r Extra ordinary, then I don't wanna b that, I'm fine just being as basic n plain as a piece of sliced cheese lol
This lady is painful to watch 😅negative reinforcement is removing something that is undesirable to continue a behavior (such as getting an A and being exempt from a final). I think she is referring to punishment? Reinforcement = attempt to continue a behavior, punishment = attempt to end a behavior. Negative just means taking something away, and positive means adding something! Sorry, psychologist here!! Great video as always, Julie Jo!
Ersher????? Top 10 of… the 3 books she has ever read as an adult? A microwave isn’t a pressure cooker, what in the word salad is she trying to serve up?!??!!??
There are different kinds of uncomfortable. A runner might hate doing hills, or be afraid of their first time running a longer distance, but that is physical and mental discomfort for a purpose. Assuming they have a training plan and aren't injuring themselves. It also usually feels good and accomplished afterwards. That's a different thing that the social discomfort of getting people to sign up for an MLM under you when you know you aren't making any money. That's an ethical discomfort we should have and listen to! A good runner, assuming they aren't doing, never needs to feel an ethical discomfort about what they are doing. Same with musicians or scientists or anyone else that has to work hard to get good at something. Really different and not analogous.
I think what she 's trying to get at is the quote: hard work beats talent, if talent doesn't work hard. Which i believe to be true generally speaking. BUT she's forgetting one thing when it comes to MLM's. It's neither hard work OR talent. It's luck. So this doesn't really apply here imo
I've never in my life heard of someone who's terrified of 'being average' like she talked about. Normal, fine and acceptable are usually not terrifying for people. She speaks about that being someone's 'worst fear.' Hm...
30:12 years ago I was on a dating app and a guy told me he didn't want to date me because I ate healthy (Im a vegetarian but not super healthy lol) and that I worked out too much (I don't) so there are some crazies out there!😂
She’s confusing me so much that I’m pouring my coffee onto a plate instead of into a cup. Are we sure she read the book and didn’t just look at the cliff notes? Her points are making my ears bleed.
This woman is off her rocker. Some habits absolutely DO show results right away. Like, hello? She knows nothing about anything, and it shows. (Also, Ursher is actually a pretty common way to say it.)
Ok, hear me out on this one: could it be that she doesn’t want to give Usher “free publicity” (pretending she’s a celebrity like it matters) so that’s why she is saying his name wrong? Or somehow a clip from this video will be stitched/duet or reused, giving her “publicity”? Or is she just rage baiting us all? I mean, something is rotten in Denmark on this one.
There isn’t anything inherently wrong with what she’s saying about habits, a little redundant and obvious but nothing wrong with it. What’s wrong with it is the REASON she is telling this to these people. She does not care if these people form life changing new habits that improve their health/wellness. She only cares that they apply this to her mlm. And it’s also not about “good habits”, it’s about habits that would lead to more productivity (that she can exploit). Over working is not a good habit, some would even say it’s a bad habit, but she would be thrilled if every one of her team members was a “type a worker ant” that she can get the most out of.
