i agree, i collect knives and decks of cards and some mens cologne, i have maybe 30,000 in all of my collections....other people would laugh but hey this is me!!!
I collect blu rays too. Up to 600 titles now. The most common question I get is where do you buy them all? It's a mix of ebay and amazon along with Barnes and nobles for their criterion sales. Also, never be afraid to buy used discs. Saves a lot of cash. For those who think another format will be "better" than blu ray, blu ray is 2k. Most films shot on 35mm are approximately 2.8k under perfect conditions. 4k will do little to improve picture quality on a screen under 80 inches. Even then, you barely notice. Blu ray, according to studio technicians, is so close to the master that I'm comfortable it's future proof for a long long time.
the only competition for Blu Ray is digital which I am against. People don't understand that when something happens to that company, or if they ever get tired of them, their entire library could be gone! But physical media wise, I don't think we will see anything after.
People said the same Thing about DVD... Quality is more than enough.... blabla... the difference between a properly mastered 4k Image vs 2k is HUGE. of course if you're watching on a small TV you won't notice much, but on a 140" Projector the gap is massive. it's day and night.
superbosschef But with Blu Ray, they are releasing 4K titles. I'm behind your statement 100% but the mainstream person isn't going to notice this, they can't even tell the difference between 480p and 1080p half the time. Anytime I'm watching TV at someone else's house and they don't have HD I tell them I can't see that shit.
I don't get what the point is to get some of these titles, it's fine to collect Blu-Rays, but to just buy any average movie feels like a waste of money and space. I only buy movies I really love and will watch over and over again so my collection will probably only grow to like 200 or so at most.
Yeah I am the same, will Only buy Blu Rays if I love them, I don't blind buy, but can Truly understand why he does this, he is the blu ray king and owning them all is a completionist, sometimes owning bad crap movies can be rare and wroth something one day
@@BluRayKing I'm the same way collecting blu rays even if I don't want them, chances are some may go out of print. Least I would have it. It's the thrill of the hunt and collecting. That's the point of physical media.
I'm not a fan of LOTR. I watched the first 2 and was not impressed by either. However Desolation of Smaug has caught my interest, I'm plan on watching The Hobbit Trilogy and see where it leads from there.
Blu-Ray King oh fair enough. What'd you think of Edge of Tomorrow? & yeah, I'm excited for the next Hobbit too man. I can't wait for Smaug to just annihilate everything.
haha hey blu-ray king! big fan, you've inspired me to actually start my own blu-ray collection, which i've recently found out isn't too easy as an unemployed fifteen year old lmfao, i have fourteen of them right now, and i have an unrelenting passion for movies! this is an awesome collection! keep it up!
+Cole Smith Thanks. I know how it can be trying to build your collection at that age. I think the first DVD I bought was when in 2003 when I was 17, but it was right after I got my first job. I'd hit the buy back stores and pawn stores for cheap blu rays to start out.
DAAAAAAAMN! You even keep the dupes! Soon as Criterion or a premium company comes out with something I already have - out with the old to a 2nd store! I'm more of the indie/art house stuff, but you got Wag The Dog. Respect! :)
Most people are impressed with my collection (nearing, if not over 2,000) but yours is quite impressive. I had custom shelving made since I couldn't justify the pricing on storage units when having it built with better materials was much cheaper and holds much more. Still trying to find some titles on Blu Ray that I have on DVD. Really liked seeing this... I like knowing I'm not the only one collecting extensively!! Thanks for sharing!
You are the first person that has done a video like this that I have seen that actually says each movie. Most people just pan their camera over a shelf and you can't see much of anything. Props to you for that. I also thought that the easter eggs were really great of you to sneak in there. Do you have a video currently that maybe explains what possesses a man to collect like this? Just curious. Please keep up the great work!
Great collection! Very impressive. Thank you for sharing. I am not sure if I missed them, you still don't own classics like "Rain Man", "The Searchers", "West Side Story" or "Casablanca"?
Hey I am a blu ray, steelbook, and box set collector and I probably have 600+ movies. I buy from Amazon, Vintage Stock, Walmart, Half Price Books so my movie collection keeps on growing. I watched your video and I was like "oh I don't have that movie" and I went to Amazon and bought some boxset and blu rays. Your collection rocks.
Is the bonus disc for Spiderman 3 really a Best Buy exclusive? Because i have it and i have never been to a Best Buy, maybe the Blu Ray version is exclusive because i have it as DVD.
You got the most awesomest collection i have ever seen. Love your collection and taste in movies and to see movies that not many have in their collection. Two thumbs up :D Have a "small" collection myself ;)
How many blurays are in the video? I notice dvds too so shouldn't that be in the title :) Just wondered if its really the biggest, its a long one but is it thousands of blurays and dvds?
Hey Blu-Ray King, love your collection. Do you keep your DVDs? I have been selling mine on Amazon and replacing them with Blu-Rays slowly or whenever I see one on sale. I try to get the ones with the digital codes so I can add them to my Ultraviolet Cloud. Do you redeem the codes on all your movies? I started to go through mine and redeemed all but a few that had expired.
+Blaine Huffman I was giving my DVDs to people after I picked them up on Blu Ray, but lately I've just had them stacked to the side. I'm thinking about taking some of them to Suncoast to trade in.
No offense but I'm not gonna sit through this entire video, but I gotta ask; have you watched every movie you own? Believe it or not some people just buy shit just to have it.
cesar celaya The plastic on the movies in a protective sleeve, like you would put on a comic book. Plus the comment above where you posted I stated they are watched.
Mike Jenkins So I can have children of my own but I'm not allowed to have children movies in my collection? That makes me a weirdo? Right..... you make a lot of sense. And most of my "stuff for children" is Disney and Dreamworks, I didn't know those were for kids only to own, maybe they should put labels on them know so that next I know and don't CREEP YOU OUT buying shit for myself.
Hey man! Totally awesome collection! = ). I've watched this vid like 2 times, all the respect to ya man. Also, I gotta ask where did ya buy ya shelves to? Cause I've looked everywhere for good ones for my collection and I haven't had any luck...wondering if ya could help me out here?
I stumbled across the Chanel and thought blu ray king was a kind of cocky name , watched this video , completely changed my mind . What a collection you have man , just subbed !i
So, new subscriber here! Amazing collection!! I was just curious how you come across some of the editions you have an how much you think you've spent on your entire collection?
+UGA Dawg When I first started collecting, I trade a lot for the rare editions or tried Ebay. I haven't spent quite as much as one would think, I will splurge on big sets or rare ones, but I usually try to find the cheapest sales on release days
Awesome collection! I'm still working on my blu-ray collection but overall with my DVDs it's a pretty impressive collection nonetheless. Can you share a link where you purchase the protective sleeves? I usually try to keep them in the original shrinkwrap but that doesn't really help in protecting the slipcover, which I am super anal about. I literally will go to other stores to find less-beaten-up covers. I mean, if you're gonna spend $20 plus on a film it should be almost pristine on day of release, IMO. Anyway, again... awesome collection and please share the link or add on description. I tried reading through the comments but there's quite a lot.
Hey, my collection is nowhere near as big as yours, but I have a fair amount. Was wondering if you have any tips for ordering them. Is it best to do alphabetical or by genre then alphabetical. Also, any recommendations for good shelving where i can put boxsets beside blu rays? Thanks!
Blu-Ray King Since you loved the prestige maybe you'll like the illusionist.I loved that film. But if haven't seen "The killing"by Stanley Kubrick you gotta see that one man.its Kubrick's 2nd film.Only 82 minutes long.A great little film about a group of guys that plan to rob a racetrack.
+Rex Sid I do not have Christine, it has eluded me for now. I have over 2670 Blu Rays, I recently did a 2015 version of this video if you wanted to check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pVoZM5vOgUg.html
I stopped buying movies when I ran out of space my last count was 620 my two shelves only hold 200 movies each so you see my problem,my question is how many movies does each shelf hold and where did you purchase your selves.I'm sorry if you answered that already ,my kids are loud. You make me miss collecting .
Hey I have those slip covers for regular thin blu Rays but they don't fit over the thicker blu Ray movies or my disney a with slip covers can you suggest one with a link so I can get them?
BlurayCollector306 Try ebay, search 'Blu ray resealable sleeve' but make sure it's the right size, there's one for every Blu Ray/DVD case type. I'm checking out your channel now.
+fandude7 Oh no! How dare I call myself the Blu Ray King without Blade Runnder? Let's skip to 1:17:03 -Oh snap, it's the digibook. Now fast forward a little with me, ok here 1:26:52 - OH SHIT! Would you look at that? It's the 5 disc ultimate set.... Perhaps you should watch it again... Or check out the updated version player.
impressive collection. There is something to be said for having the actual DVD/Bluray as it is sold. Much prefer physical media over digital files although I do like having copies of my physical media in digital file format for watching easily.
Wow all hail the King!! You could have split this up some!! LOL it took me 3 days on and off to watch it all! I bet your arm was sore the next day from holding the cam up lol!! Much respect brother! Awesome collection!
The first couple of times I started filming did, my arm was wore out after a couple shelves, so I attached the camera to the tripod and it was actually fine the whole time.
I'm super OCD and I have to point out that your collection is not in alphabetical order.... sorry it bothers me though. The number set up should be in ascending order for example 1 to 100. I see what you were doing though you matched the first number and had them together such as 50/50 then 500 days of summer but that doesn't make sense....... at least to me but hey it's your collection, display it as you would like lol.
Blu Ray King how much did your collection cost? Just wondering because I'm 13 and I just got $150 dollars and I'm getting Star Wars the complete saga and some other blu rays
Try the pawn shops they get so much stuff, especially around the holidays that they will usually bargain with you to move the merchandise(30 day warranty) we never pay full price for most of our of ......DVDs,blu-ray and video games.
GladiatorProduction2 I explain doubles and what not in the 2015 video, here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pVoZM5vOgUg.html
Im a big fan of the Paranormal Activity series I love that special edition artwork cover of Paranormal Activity. Can you still buy those special edition covers????
Oh lord, that is definitely a collection. I can only bow before the king. I've started to collect again so I only have 70 blu rays, this video makes me want to buy lots of things. My wallet says thanks.
1747CT I have on a few occasions, I usually make it about 2 shelves in before giving up. I did try it in reverse once and made it to the W section and watched all my WXYZ movies with the exception of Wyatt Earp
beautiful Room bro i got a question about the lifespan or longevity of DVDs and Blue Rays and that in summers for a month or two my room temperature exceeds to 31 to 32 degree Celsius is this bad and how much is your room temperature in the summers , please bro give me a full accurate answer thank you
***** theres a difference between hating a movie, and a shitty movie.. like a million ways to die in the west, is a pretty shit movie.. but its entertaining to watch.
Blu-Ray King Just amazing. I started my collection six months ago and have around 600 by now, but mostly Criterion - 98 to date. But 2,475 is really huge.
Blu-Ray King Ikr, but my target is to collect all the blu-ray features of Criterion starting from spine no. 2. Let's see how far I can go. But hey, keep on going.
How come all of your blu-rays are in plastic? Have you ever watched them or do you buy the plastic slips and put all of your movies in them? If so where do you buy the slips?
Nice.. How bout a movie called Thursday by Skip Woods. Supposedly only around 1K where made before the distribution company went bankrupt. My buddy's got that.
+Josh Long When I first started collection, I would keep count manually. But after I discovered bluray.com, they have an online database that I can add all my movies to and keep track of.
what are these cases? like what do you do if you want to watch, what do you do with the plastic? can anyone send me the link to where to find them ? or the site where to find them and what there called? thanks
