As I was walking through the streets of Copacabana, Bolivia 🇧🇴 I noticed in many places they were making and selling bread with faces! 🤷🏼♂️ 😅
At first, I thought it was one of the spookiest things I’d ever seen.
Turns out its part of a really special tradition in which they mix the Aymara and Quechua cultures with the Catholic Culture.
Their tradition has evolved into something very smart in which their beliefs are satisfied but at the same time, they help each other 🙌
In this tradition, people go to the cemetery full of bread 🥖 and food, while other people who don’t have much to eat also go but Carrying empty sacks.
The ones who have bread give it to the ones who don’t have bread and in exchange, they pray for them. It’s such a beautiful tradition 🥹 I actually cried. People kept approaching me and giving me bread and asking me to pray for them. And with this way you are not alone with your loss, instead, everybody interacts with each other and you feel a very deep love with the entire community.
I really hope this tradition doesn’t disappear, but it seems inevitable that the new generations with modern life will slowly move away from it. Just like everything in life, things keep changing and evolving, we just have to let things be ❤️
