I was actually gonna say stuff in his defense like "Maybe this Dragunov is just star struck, tired, nervous, etc".... but then he plugged and I knew EXACTLY how he kept his rank lol
He's red rank, that's like green in T7. There are a lot of new players and the rank system is different, you'll see purple ranks who don't punish rage arts. He's a bitch for plugging but otherwise that's how red ranks are
@@Alimentasable Comparing Red to Green is a stretch but I get your point. Everyone within the same range doesn't play the exact same and alot of ppl in TK7 didn't have any business being where they were at either.
@@Alimentasableit's the system imho. T8, you finally lose points only on orange if i'm not mistaken. Also only 3 ranks per colors. That's why lots of players who lacks fundamentals are in red
Ok but seriously, what is going on? In tekken 7, i was stuck at red ranks for a while, and the people i faced there where absolut monsters. In tekken 8 i have played against mighty rulers who don't even know how to backdash, punish, block etc. Like how did they even achive their rank?!
@@TJBlack3.5 Ladder is also set at higher baseline, yellow ranks is basically where ranked starts. There are also a lot of new players, which again makes the average player a lot weaker since not everyone playing is a 10 yr old tekken vet.
@semavi9696 yeah mk does this single thing better than tekken and Bamco needs to fix this. But other than that, MK is a balancing mess, the animations look shit, its all about fatalities. Trash game beyond quitality.
Legit proof that characters carry many players. Ive seen so many youtubers like afro and agent who play victor and dragonov in the purple ranks when they dont even know matchups and just have constant pressure
I had 5 hours of glorious ranked play last night. No pluggers, only one guy who used a rage art, it was beautiful. I doubt I'll ever see a night like that again.
Blue ranks is even worse I'm lucky that I got Leo to tk emperor, I can't tell you how many pluggers I got from getting Leo to emperor it might be almost 30 I kid you not
Drag got that good dmg, with them easy 50/50 set up, with easy block string, but this guy plays weird. Feel like he was getting away with limited moves up till that point
This guy literally plays like the equivalent of green ranks in T7. 100% he got carried to this rank by broken Dragunov, and now he is stuck because good players destroy his gimmicks. He isn't used to that so the only way of coping with this for him is plugging. This is T8 ranked in a nutshell sadly.
Surprisingly even the semi-decent lower-mid ranks do this. Especially if their tools were mostly strong or uncontested that much. I played against a King. Good mixups and didn't rely on throws but my good friend is a King main and after over 70 matches against each other him using King's whole moveset. I know King as if I main him myself. So despite the player being nutty, I shut down his offense 90% of the time or downright blew him up but it was fair game since I would win with like barely 10-20% health still thanks to homing grabs and that bluddy RKO. Yet he plugged. It's like if someone isn't a Tekken vet or someone who is an avid FG player. They can't stand losing. Same thing happens against Hwoa, Bears, Zafina and Azu... And I main Bryan. It's crazy.
Ranks in T8 are so inflated, it's not even funny. In T7, getting to higher rank groups felt like you needed to learn things along the way to make it there. Like it legit took me almost a year to get to red ranks in T7. It takes no effort in T8 because Namco is worried about player retention. Most people just quit the game if they're hardstuck in green for months. In T8 they have the illusion that they're getting better because they see their ranks go up like a casino slot machine when in reality they're not even scratching the surface of learning Tekken.
@defearl True. Though I believe the issue lies in how overtuned some characters are. Heat/Heat Smash and let's not mention the darn RA does too much damage and works so well as not a comeback mechanic but daylight robbery. Which newer players rely on too much and good habits from playing good players kills you because you don't always expect a mid-upper rank player to use a scrubby strat. So it works against good players too like how they worked on Mainman too. TL;DR newer players get to high ranks thanks to heat smash-into-rage art robberies that you end up with inflated ranks. Most will say. "Nah just lab..." , "If you were so good you should have beat them..." , "If you lost to that you are just bad..." but often forget that even newer players can be smart and throw you off. In T8 you die to scrubs because you were caught off guard not really because you couldn't handle it. And the damage you receive from these mistakes make it very hard to catch them and beat them in time. Not to forget that even the scrubs don't just do 1 thing. Especially in T8 they spam like 6 flow charts which 2 of them kill you before you have enough time to catch on.
I dropped dragunov, got yoshi to mighty ruler today and im stopping there until ranked is updated, cant stand the pluggers and ive been getting some pretty good high blue rank players and such in casuals, so can still learn for now
@@SS_Sin_Of_Prideit’s cuz it’s king I’m a king main as well and people send me the wildest messages after they plug all ranks are just miserable if you go against entitled idiots who think just because you’re using (input hated character) they’re automatically in the right to plug
@@Beforezzz Bro I've played Tekken 7 for 5 years and I dont remember it being so toxic. The amount of one and dones and pluggers in T8 surpasses T7 by a mile. Its not just with King lol, I constantly get plugged on even with my main Kazuya.
It’s pretty crazy how mixed every rank is with player skill. I think the issue is, apart from tekken 8 just being way easier, is that you usually go against people who just spam moves, and then you get someone who actually knows how the game works, and then when you go against another spammer, it’s really bizarre trying to adapt back to the brain dead play style
So so true hahaha. It's a completely different play style trying to counter someone playing in a scrubby way vs someone playing "proper" tekken. And because of how all over the place ranks feel right now you need to jump between playstyles so often
coming from tekken 7 dragu main here, i have a replay of me just doing half life to a guy only using dragu's b1+3 and d1+2 parries people do be braindead and predictable nowdays i am truely disgusted of what the average dragu player has become, i don't even want to associate with those people the average dragu just became wr2, 2-3 grabs, FC df1,4 in sneak 4 and maybe some jabs also if you ever encounter a dragu that actualy side steps, blocks, parries, actually uses wr4/wr3 and generaly moves a lot, he is most likely coming from T7 too Those are the scary ones, they can and will mix you good with many feints, grabs and strings dragu has in his arsenal
Dragunov is not the problem. It's how braindead and stupid the whole game is and the focus on offense. As well as plugging.that green rank isn't there because of dragunov, it's because he plugs. And fkn me, give me a 10000 dragunovs over jun and xiaoyu. I don't even find many dragunovs at all. It's mostly devil Jin, Nina, xiaoyu, king, too many fkn yoshimitsu brainlets and the occasional bear and azucena ( all 5 IQ, no skill, no defense, green ranks with fujin+ ranks. Haven't found an azucena that was even DECENT at the game. Today I played a fujin azucena that played just like this dragunovs but also teabagged and ki charged and danced until I clapped her cheeks. No rematch). The problem is the game. It's too braindead. Nobody has to respect anything and everyone spams (except kazuya, he only works on the vortex rather than spam. Worst character in the game by far. Even worse than Leroy).
@@zazombiezmasher0116 oh. So you think that this particular player got to red ranks by using dragunov rather than plugging? That the game isn't braindead and full of spammers because that is what the whole game is about? Or maybe you don't agree that I find more characters that are not dragunov in ranked? Love such comments. They say nothing, add nothing, just try to insult you without giving anything because you know people like you are too stupid and to say more past tweet long "touch grass", "incel", "you suck" insults, everybody would see who you really are. You should go touch some grass rather than lurk around and leave random replies with the hope of angering your targets. Little noob can't deal with dragunov and probably plays some braindead character like azucena of xioayu, because they are the closets a woman has ever been near you that wasn't your mother.
@@zazombiezmasher0116 ah fk... You are a plugger. That is what triggered you. Gotcha. You don't agree that plugging is the real issue. Little green rank got to red ranks by plugging every loss. Yep, you definitely should go touch some grass rather than your Ethernet cable
I know part of it is ego(self aware) but losing in Tekken 8 just feels so much worse than T7 ranked. T7 ranked was bullshit too but you wouldn’t see people play nearly as lobotomized as people do in 8.
While this is true. Mainman did get hit by the generic 2 grab 4-5 times w/o teching correctly. That was funny ngl. This lose didn’t seem as bs as alot of interactions in this game.
@@AntonioGonzalez-ht5cklow tier god? Not plugging? Since when hasn’t he plugged, he legit plugged the other day so it’s not really a good bar to compare him at tbh
Like bruh, we should have infinite rematch, I hate finding someone who’s willing to deathmatch in ranked, but oh no ft2, so after that set I find someone else just to waste my time and plug on me
i absolutely don't understand why they had to make it a best of 3 in ranked. i would rather play against a guy me who keeps beating me and keeps accepting the rematch so i could learn something, instead of playing against 10 different gimmicky dipshits who don't rematch after 1 win/loss even
“Instead of just fixing our ranked point system, we are exploring unnecessary options to ban players for life.” Ez to rank up through lower ranks if you throw till your demotion match, win promotion match and skip half the rank after a loss streak. I dont play like that but i got nina to almost garyu now just by playing her heaps, and i dont think i deserve that rank, but worse players have higher ones so idk
What annoys me on this game is that so many people are obsessed with using the heat smash as soon as they can. It's like they just wanna use all the flashy moves as quickly as possible. The abuse of the heat system can be overkill and frustrating against weaker players.
@@Cutthroat__dragunov in heat gets untechable tackle and some lame grabs. His heat smash does half damage of Jin's and king's heat smash while being nearly identical. Lee's heat uses heat to have perfect just frame Inputs on some moves....it's only good for an easy 10 frame punish, which is the antithesis of using heat, as you want to be on the offense, not defending. It's kinda useless honestly if you main the character. Only his weird hit grab 3,3:4 and 1:3:3:3 are useful in heat and they are... Not game changing of you go into heat, kinda the worst heat mechanic alongside dragunov. Kazuya's heat isn't op either, buffing some good moves into better moves but nothing too crazy cuz they burn heat FAST. Others get some weird crazy stuff, massive buffs during heat, like xioayu getting a low launcher that's -10 or safe on block? Jun Launchers becoming safe and a crazy heat smash with massive heal. Paul has a high hit grab like lee that deals too much damage on block. Lars has some guard break electric that forces you into a 50/50 and has super wonky interactions with lots of moves. Victor makes the panic move safe, that does 60 damage and has infinite range, which also hits grounded for way too much damage. King gets a 50/50 into unbreakable throws or high damage knockdown moves and throws give heat back. Azucena automatically parries and counters highs and mids while in stance. Asuka gets dumb moves spammabble and do way more chip damage. Alisa gets 2 gimmicks and chainsaws deal a fkton of chip. Brian gets to spam the dumb snake eyes bs Claudio gets constant starburst Devil Jin gets lasers that turn hellsweep into a launch and electrics Jack 8 gets a buff and a guard break into heat smash Dragunov's heat state is probably the worst one. Unbreakable feint into grab and tackle are.... Oof... Not even worth using. His whole heat is reserved for a fast heat smash when needed. That's all I ever use it for. It's like he doesn't even get any special effects during heat at all. Hope they don't nerf him into top 5 worst characters like they did in Tekken 7 after season 1. He feels much more complete and fun to play now so it would suck if he sucked. Tekken 7 dragunov was literally just wr2 and D2. His wall damage was abysmal and his mids were basically highs, with zero tracking. Just don't duck and you win in Tekken 7 cuz all he can do is chip with D2 and everytime he does, he gives away his turn. People just respect his frames too much. That is like with KAZUYA when you respect him too much and let him 50/50 vortex you. You are playing his game at his tempo and that is what he wants. Only amazing dragunov players like jdcr can make dragunov really work. Now he is so oppressive only because his strong throw game is fixing his biggest weaknes: he is the most linear character in the game, with no good tracking moves besides D2.
The close of this was so on-point. I'm currently Raijin ranked, and recently, I played a Lee that was rank 23 and was doing all the punishable stuff you'd expect from orange ranks. I was beating him, and of course, he plugged. It told a whole story of how he got there without some truly required skill checks...the most disgusting people.
This is like sf6 man. So many "master" rank players got carried by drive rush and drive impact that once they hit MR they get clapped so hard and pull the plug once people get past their gimmicks.
I guess I have to take a break from ranked. You fight so hard to rank up and then a random Kuma or Xiayou appears and for a reason no one knows, you just lose 1000 points and all the hard work is robbed from you. But when Im on Promo, people are plugging. Sorry but this is garbage and unfair and Im tired of it. Fuck Tekken 8
@@Michael_Lochlann Xiayou is broken af. But the main problem to me is, how this game takes 1000 points from you all the time and I dont understand how it works. It has nothing to do with the ranks, winning streaks, losing streaks or Tekken prowess, it just happens super random. But its simply super demotivating. You still getting carried tho
stop complaining about kuma you scrub, hes the worst character in the game, if you dont learn the matchup you deserve to lose. yiayou on the other hand is the best character in the gaem, nullifies 90% of your moveset, so dont compare these characters
@@Michael_Lochlannno, that character is arguably the most broken and strongest character. If Jun didn't have a massive heal on block with her heat smash, it would be a no contest for xiayou.
Ok, this has been very motivational for me. I just reached Vanquisher and thought i sucked but if this fucker can get to fucking Tenryu then im getting to Tekken King at least. This is both hilarious and sad to watch XD
9:00 Couldn't have said it better. This game tried so hard to be accessible for new players that it made the game unplayable for old players. Can't even play my main without feeling bad cuz of those monkey's who only picked him cuz he's "busted"..
Never forget WINNING IN TEKKEN RANKED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!! WINNING IN TEKKEN RANKED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!! WINNING IN TEKKEN RANKED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!! IT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN BREATHING AIR
I've been saying the same thing since I got tekken 8, I really like the game but the people playing it are sewer rats, scummiest player base I've encounter to date. An issue that you might not be aware of since you over 200k prowess is the fact there are so many people at beginner rank who have played tekken 7 for years but stay beginner rank, probably to match against other "beginner" rank players in quick match, makes it an absolute nightmare for genuine beginners or people picking up a new character to try and get some experience. Can't imagine how many people have stopped playing due to it.
As someone who is stuck in orange ranks but had a bunch of experience from t7, i just want the game to stop giving me juns, dragunovs and kings. Im suffering out here fighting for my life and i havent even seen half the roster💀
@@nw6358 I wish it were the same for me, I can tell straight away when someone is a beginner like myself, but every other game people are doing perfect wave dashing and taking 40-50% of my hp per combo, ain't no way they should be beginner rank, or matched against me. So there is most definitely smurfs, lots of experienced players being cowards and not playing ranked
Quick Match should let people select a level of play. I hate how they always place us in "beginner" as if their game hasn't basically been consistent for over 20 years.
Don't blame the player, blame the game. Its clear that they wanted Tekken 8 to be way too casual friendly and now the ranked is all messed up. We have people on red ranks that don't even know how to side step or block and just spam the same moves over and over. When you give casual player the idea that he is "good" at the game and when he starts to lose matches he will start raging and plugging.
The last minutes of this video really sums up a lot for me in T8 as well. Trying to make it to Blue ranks, but stuck in Flame Ruler due to people lose quitting or plugging. I can thankfully say that im getting better in fighting Jun and Lili for now though😂
Like any game, it's the players that ruin the game. The game is solid with great visuals and mechanics. People are just lazy and annoying in games. Resort to gimmicks and cheap tactics too often.
I haven't dabbled in any online game play as a game developer yet, but I feel it shouldn't be that hard to set up a ping system that can tell which of the two players is the one that disconnected and penalize them for that while giving the win to the remaining still responsive player.
Pluggers need fixed yesterday. I'm done with ranked until they fix it. (if they fix it, because Bamco seem to be among the least competent devs out there) Why are they so defensive and stubborn about something every other franchise did years ago!
@@Steel12able so bec of plugging thats the most pathetic drag ever? Shh When obviously he is pissed not bec of the plugging but the gameplay of the player.. But truth is throws are part of the game and he is doing that as well. But of course this guy is the most pathetic drag for you too since your daddy said it LOL Goober? Like i said before, Tmm fanbase are bunch of kids 🤣
How on earth is this guy in Red ranks? I'm in Orange and I've seen a few Drags that play better than this. Like, he's got no movement, no defense and he seems to only spam 3-4 movies.
As someone who has like 600 hours in T7 and T8 combined, I was pretty good at breaking throws in T7, in T8 it feels next to impossible to do that consistently. I feel like, if TMM with all of his time in Tekken, struggles with that - I don't see how they're in a good spot, since it's just pure rng
Playing Tekken ranked has never been fun for me. It's either I beat them & they start making excuses & insult me or they plug. Or if they beat me, they'll rub it in my face. I remember this 1 guy who I played against in Tag 2, he was a solo Jin who beat my team of Yoshi-King twice & on the 3rd match where I was about to win... you already know how the story ends. & it has been consistently like that ever since I started.
So I played this guy literally just now and got 3-0 both games I would get a round or two but I could never close out he turtled me I main azucena I felt like a bot I think maybe I need to get better or just find another main sadly
Go for whichever character you think is the coolest overall and you have the most fun with! They’re all powerful characters if played correctly. I recommend watching some tip videos on tekken 8 frames and maybe a guide on the character you choose
Tekken 8 reminds me of Jumpforce. Initially there wasn’t a rematch option in jumpforce then they added it. Then no one rematches, they pick the most busted characters and play the scummiest spammy way possible, troll spin, which is equivalent to teabagging. You’ll win match then rematch then when they win the second match of the set the run away. Also, when they’re losing especially when it’s time to rank up, they plug😭😭
There should be seasons. During the season ranks should be hidden. After the season the rank is revealed and it stays on your profile for that season (your rank for s2 is still hidden) Would this fix things? Probably not.
Does quick play even work? I never seem to find any matches, if at all... Tekken Lounge is the best and thanks to that I get to play outside of ranked... I am so tired of being robbed by heat smashes into death tech of some of these braindead characters while getting my points gobbled up for free.
