Samsung is probably the greatest phone company. Starting from flip phone and successed in smartphone. Currently still as top 2 brands, the best seller of Android and dominants the market
Nokia was destroyed from inside by Stephen Elop, who was previously a head of Microsoft Business Division. Thanks to his management, Nokia lost its leading position and was sold to Microsoft.
Nokia also had the MeeGo OS on the N9. That was supposed to be the future of the Nokia ecosystem until Microsoft and Elop destroyed the development. That whole Microsoft era was a big misfortune to Nokia.
It is amazing how much our life has been improved by advancement in phone technology. I remembered my uncle used to carry a camcorder as big as a bag of concrete on his shoulder to shoot video. He also had a big camera on his neck. When he traveled, he looked like a construction worker. Now all of those things are in a pocket now. Amazing!
I don't see it as an improvement. Phones were at their best when you could use them to call and text everyone everywhere. But now they do everything and we have gotten to dependant on them. They have negatibly altered real life social communication and taken away some survival skills. I'm 25 and I kinda regret the development
It was nostalgic time when my appa bought 1st phone Nokia 1110i, 2nd nokia 2630(camera phone) 3rd Nokia N73... Literally Nokia ruled our heart... none can replace it...❤
My first cellphone was a Motorola C-115, but I remember a lot my Nokia 2630 (because a promotion it came with the dvd movie "Ratatouille" for free haha). It was a good cellphone
I am a proud user of samsung since samsung S4 and still using it with samsung S21 right now and iPhone13 regular, both are support my activities, and i am considering to change my samsung to S24 when it release. Great job for the team behind it.
@@kamaruleffendiThose are just rumors. Only because they were split from one company. Oppo, vivo don't have the same major shareholder. Their biggest shareholders are the trade union committees of each company.
Yeah the Sony cybershot and Sony Walkman phones, being able to play playstation games on your sony phone, they were year ahead of other phones, they where very innovative. Nokia were good strong and reliable
Samsung Galaxy note was perfect phone . Since its great success , Apple and others started making phones bigger . I am currently using Galaxy Flip and not going back to a non foldable phone .
I've owned Motorola,Ericsson,SonyEricsson,Nokia,Samsung,Panasonic,Sagem,Google...and,in my opinion, the best phone that i've ever had,was the RAZR V3!!!!!!! In second position a Samsung that i've loved a lot,the GTB3410. Third is the phone that i own today, impress me,Samsung A7,since 2018 with me,and this amaze me,cause i've got a rough and tough work, and he is still with me,perfectly working, almost perfect with battery, and i don't know how he is so reliable!!!!!! I think that everyone of us leaves a piece of heart in some of our devices...i think that the RAZR is the love of my life!
My first mobile phone was Siemens in 2004, then I switched to Nokia in around 2008 before finally I moved to Samsung since 2011 till today. Android changes the whole mobile phone technology.
Nokia's demise started as soon as they denied acceping Android OS in their phones, Symbian was also good but lacked that X factor. Going with Android proved to be a master stroke for Samsung and fueled the Rise of Samsung in global handheld market 📈
If they had kept the MeeGo os and somehow managed to keep a developer ecosystem with it, we would have a third os category today. Nokia N9 was absolutely beautiful device and way ahead of its time all gesture based and multitask focused os what we see now in iphones. At that time Samsung's TouchWiz UI was really bad and iOS was not at all customisable.
Nostalgia! My first phone was a Nokia 2700, and then I bought Sony Ericsson, Sony, LG, HTC, Blackberry, Motorola... I miss them all, my current phone is Samsung.
@@Reformamposss Assholes exist everywhere. When you look at a child, you see the parents. I can tell what kind of people your parents are by what they do and say.
My first phone is a Samsung D820i Camera 1.3 pixels. At that time, there was a beautiful camera. After that, my favorite Sony Erickson K790i appeared. Wonderful memories! 😊
Idk what shocked me more, the absolute Juggernaut that is Samsung, the fact that LG cancelled their smartphone production right when they started to gain market share, or that somehow Microsoft had managed to get 14% of phones to be windows phones at one point.
My first mobile phone was from Motorola…I still remember the place (shop location) where I bought it and my feelings, I was so happy. My second mobile phone was from Ericsson with 3 colour replaceable panels (yellow, white and blue). My third mobile phone (I still have it somewhere with my things in a garage) was from Mitsubishi. So this is my first trio of mobile phones 😊
Wow, what a coincidence. My first phone was also Motorola, an SLVR L7 bought in Nov 2006. My second was the Sony Ericsson w910i in March 2008. My third was Nokia though, x6 express music purchased in July 2010. Loved my w910i, made me a 'cool' kid back in middle school. Has a music tracking app, gyro (which is awesome for my kid self). X6 too, has a great speaker (for a phone) and comes with 1 year of free OVI music, which introduced me to the world of high-end audio I missed those days 😢
Samsung and apples dominance at the top is because chinese phones are banned in the US and some parts of europe, if they were allowed entry on those market, they would beat those 2 in total global sharel. Almost every country chinese phones outsell the american and korean phones that they equally compete in.
From Nokia to Asus to Sony (Current). Even Asus not big names but they invent a great ideas of PadFone (Slot in the phone to the tab). Seriously love it (previously owner of PadFone 2).
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
I still have a beautiful ❤ Nokia 1100 2003 model in my collection , although I have stopped using it 2013 it's still in working condition and one more is Samsung SGL 700 2007 model steel body beautiful phone.. I'm in love with both these model till date
My first ever phone was a Nokia 1610......I Was one of the 1st few 100s to ever get a cell phone in my country in 1998 after the Government finally curved in to issue Strive Masiyiwa with an operating licence! I still remember people's faces after seeing a cell phone for the first time! It didn't matter the cell belonged to the company I worked for! Good times!
LG все равно самый лучший!!!) с 2013 как пользуюсь им и кроме этой марки больше никакую не хочу) LG рулит!! И звук отличный! Особенно в наушниках с hi-fi))
I use to be in the cell phone biz back in the 80s. Motorola ruled then, but there were some brands some people probably never heard of. Such as Oki, diamondtel (Mitsubishi), audiovox and pioneer had cellphones. My first fully portable phone was from Diamondtel early 1990s. Phones were very expensive then
Speaking of “popularity” in the modern day, Apple should be in the number one spot, imho. Haters gonna hate but Apple’s release of its first iPhone in 2007 helped touch screen technology become popular worldwide and that alone beats every other brand in terms of “popularity”. But it’s also very expensive which makes other much affordable brands like samsung thrive.
My first cellphone in 2002 was Sony Erricson T150, then Nokia 3310, Nokia 3315, Nokia 3330, Siemens M35, Nokia N70, Samsung J2Prime, Samsung A10, Samsung A54, Samsung A55 ,I bought it just 2 days ago...
The first one I saw in the wild was 1991, one of those huge brick phones. The guy said he was paying around 3k a month. He docked in a base in his car. I think it was a Motorola.
Prolly right that it was a Motorola, especially if it was in the States. 2G had just been introduced to the consumer in 1990, though like you mentioned, those phones and the service for them was expensive AF.
My first cellphone was Motorola when I was entering 6th grade. My father gave me that since I am one of the honor student in our section. Whenever I see the logo of motorola I always remember those days when life is just simple and fun, unlike now.
My 1st mobile phone was a used Sharp Ericsson in 1995, 2nd Motorola 920, 3rd Motorola v60, Motorola V525, 4th Samsung Wave I, 5th Samsung S3 mini, 6th Samsung A3, current Samsung A40, next, probably a Motorola as I like having real FM-radio.
When I was in middle school, I wished for a television the size of my hand. It was unimaginable at the time. Now it's come true and it's even better than I expected. Now I'm using Apple, but Nokia will forever be a monument in my heart because it is associated with many memories in my life.
I've owned two Nokias and one SonyEricsson before smart phones But since smart phones arrived I've always used Samsung Galaxy phones. I think it's 4 Samsung Galaxy phones over the years and Samsung also at work (my municipality which pays the salaries to around 5000 people and I think everyone who uses a work phone has a Samsung in my municipality Falu kommun, Sweden).
I really hope that Apple will not be able to threaten Samsung’s primacy for long. It's not that I don't like or like Apple and Samsung. It is simply obvious that Apple's primacy will greatly harm competition and may ultimately lead to Apple's monopoly. This is when, gradually, other companies will simply understand that playing in Apple’s field is not very profitable and will leave the business. There is nothing good about this.
My first phone was Siemens C35 in 2006 I think. Now I using Samsung since S6, but I think the phone price now is ridiculous, there is no big difference between models and prices from space. In most of the countries you can buy a 15-year-old car for the price of a new phone. Mind blowing.
Always been a Samsung fan. People are realizing you dont need Apple prices for a good phone, and most people dont wanna pay that price for a regurgitated phone anyway 😅
The data is wrong. Apple was never #1 in global market share. Perhaps they sold more phones than Samsung in a particular quarter, but Apple was never #1 in overall market share in any quarter.
Yes, I was surprised by this also. Pretty much everyone I know has an Apple phone except me. But it seems like they have too many limitations to certain apps that I don't.
Apple is little expensive for most average people that is why will always struggle to have a slice in the international market, verses Chineese brands for example
My first in 1996 was a Motorola, afterwards Ericsson Gh388 and then in 1998 a Bosch. Seems that brand even hasn't made this list so their market share must be tiny. Coca Cola did offer a lot of free Sagem cellphones here in Europe by the end of the '90's which made almost every teenager have/want one. Also not included in this list?
I have used many brands of mobile phones. (siemens, motorola, nokia, sony ericsson, htc, huawei, apple, samsung and now nothing phone..) but I didn't enjoy any of them as much as using htc. HTC phones were truly enjoyable with their material quality, design, interface and user experience
