Find it here: amzn.to/3AoAlZV Lifetime updated tool rankings: torquetestchan... This week DeWALT finally allowed us to purchase the all new DCF900 (aka DCF900B DCF900P2 ect) and it's not messing around. With specs nearly the same as a Milwaukee FUEL 2767 High Torque, you'd expect it to come out swinging. And it does. Hold onto your egos, it's about to get bumpy.

Torque, who started TTC, is working in product development for Astro Tools who doesnt make traditional wrenches like these at the moment. TTC is not the only testing out there, always consider multiple sources when looking at a tool!

Who else is now wanting a 60V/Flexvolt 3/4" or 1" DeWalt impact? Could this be the rumored project ludicrous? Whatever it is, whatever form it takes. Looking at the performance of this XR, we're 100% buying one whatever it costs should it see daylight. Our DCF900 shipped this week, many are shipping now: shrsl.com/3o62s The 899 model also popped and crackled almost as much of this one and they seem to hold up well. Torque, who started this channel, is working in project development for Astro tools who also make impacts (air). Always consider multiple sources when looking at a tool!

It's nice to not be embarrassed by being a Dewalt guy. I have been using the new DeWalt 3/8" impact and rarely need my 1/2" cordless anymore. Plus the power switch that goes from delicate to full-beans allows it to be used as a 1 stop shop for either big power or "put it on nicely so it doesn't hurt the aluminum engine block" in a single tool is amazing. Dewalt really has some incredible tools in this new lineup.

Typically quality brands will make Cro-Mo impact sockets soft-ish. Like 41-44Hrc. To do damage to cheaper socket rather than the tool. Snap-On in particular. A lot of people miss the boat on this reality. It's not about having a high torque to work on everything, it's about having a high torque that CAN. Extensions, swivels 'n all. A DCF899 wont drive every toyota wheel bearing out of or into the knuckle every time. If that's your top impact wrench, you're unbolting that knuckle to bring it over to the press, + 1/2 hour, and now the car needs an alignment. On a DCF900 it's a 10 second impacting job and done.

I just got this DeWalt to replace my air gun that went bad and they no longer made rebuild kits for. I already had many 20v DeWalt tools so I figured why not. I should have done it years ago. Best tool purchase I have made in years. I used it to pull a D30 from under my wrangler and it had it out in no time. Never even slowed down on any on the lower control arm bolts or the wheel lug nuts. Good video. I like how you show the numbers so that even an old guy like me can understand.

A Lot of people don't know that when using tools professionally Milwaukee batteries start to wobble loose & lose connection, well the DeWalt batteries keep going. Also DeWalt tools are easier to fix & still make parts for older tools, like my dcd889 that's almost 9 years old & still going however it's do for a rebuilt.

I say this after every 1/2" high torque review, but I'd still like to see the makita XGT 3/4" with a 1/2" adapter compared to these top performing 1/2" guns. The XGT is only a little bigger than a lot of the 1/2" impacts and with an adapter it gives you the versatility of having an extremely powerful impact for both 1/2" and 3/4" sockets.

That's my take on it. I may skip the dcf900 if they're release a 3/4 flexvolt fairly soon. My dcf899 is still going strong and although dated now was a good gun in its day - if it doesn't shift it my 2nd hand Snap-on x4 torque multiplier comes out. The new mid torque paired with a 3/4 hi torque would be a far more flexible combination. I'm a forklift mechanic and frequently I need every last one of those ugga-duggas for big M36 counterweight bolts ect.

I bought a dcf899 in 2015 when they were pretty new on the market. It's getting pretty beat though. Might be time to replace it with the new dcf900. I did recently grab a 6 Amp-hour battery, and that did sure wake the tool up. It rips with that thing. However, it's making some truly awful noises and smells from the motor, so I don't think it's got a lot of time left. That said, I don't have any complaints because I've used that thing a lot over the past 6+ years, nearly 7, and it's put in some real hard work.

Honestly, what is the point of such high output in a 1/2"?? Seems like it's marketing wank and nothing else. The drive square is too small to withstand it (as you demonstrated). And think of the fasteners you'll encounter that have 19mm hex or smaller-- if they are rusted so badly you need that much force to get them out, they almost always break. If they won't break, they will break loose at significantly less force than any of these wanky tools will put out. A less powerful tool is just as effective in terms of getting the job done. What's the downside of these comic book impacts? Well, they are bigger than necessary, less durable than they could be, and vibrate a lot. I rarely need to break out even my 1250k nitrocat, which has long been surpassed in the air gun world. But it's SMOOTH and quiet and still manages to never fail to get the job done. Honestly, a compact battery 1/2" that is only rated 300lb ft or so is all you need for 90% or more of daily use. And they are nice and light and low vibration. My compact Makita is only rated like 260lb ft and works for almost everything. Sometimes good enough is good enough.

There's nothing like competition to get the manufacturers moving forward, although I do feel that many tools are brought out when they aren't ready, just so the manufacturer can get ahead. Only time and longer-term testing will show if that is the case? Moreover, most of these products tested here are outside the average Joe's price range and also their requirements.
@acidforblood

I wondering if they could focus on better socket technology going forward to improve the resistance of breakage at such high forces. If the game now is to bring out monsters like this then socket technology will need to improve else sockets might as well be completely disposable which is extremely expensive and a waste. I love the power I'm seeing out of this tool though.

I have a great idea: Let's prove what happens if you re-use a yielded head bolt BUT you must re-install it with with the same torque that would bring it back to the head pressure it had before you loosened it (basically back to the same position it was?) without stretching it further. How much weaker would that bolt REALLY be?

I think the fact that Mac trucks are just mainlining DeWalts instead of having their own version of it had some influence into the R&D of the 900. Add in the fact that the cost is pennies compared to the tool truck brands and I think that currently, DeWalt is the best brand for a new person to get into. It's not enough for me to switch out of my M18/12 line, especially since I'm sure TTI will answer with something to get red back on the throne.
