Yeah, certainly. It’s a lot to get this Urza, and casting them doesn’t immediately pay back all the mana and let you go infinite easily, like the other one did.

The reason Urza has the stones in his eyes because when he set off the Sylex to destroy his brother, he got caught in the blast. What saved his life was the the stones landing in his eyes and with their power he ignited his spark and escaped the explosion.
@THEMithrandir09
@THEMithrandir09 Год назад
Actually not his spark, Urza didn't have one. It was a never-ignited spark of a guy called Glacian, from way back when Yawgmoth was still human, whos essence is stored in the stones.

Maybe first in the meta-chronology of mtg history. But in any case, definitely one the absolute most powerful planeswalkers back from a time when planeswalkers were basically gods who could treat planes as their personal playgrounds. 5:46 Yeah, reading the Brother's War book, I want to say that it was because of Urza using the Golgathian Sylex and amplifying an obliteration spell that literally rocked the multiverse, (seriously he actually locked Dominaria and like 11 other worlds away in their own multiverse and sentenced Dominaria to an ice age that regressed society back to the stone ages, crazy ish) but after he set off the ruinous detonation, the stones became embedded in his eyes, giving him Planeswalker powers. For those who didn't know, technically Urza doesn't have a spark, he's using the spark of Glacian, which was trapped inside the power stone that Yawgmoth's evil ass stuck inside the poor artificer's dying body just to be petty

19:50 This depends. I've seen two versions of this spoiled card, one says "You may activate the loyalty abilities of Urza, Planeswalker twice each turn rather than only once." (the one you have here). Another says "Once during each of your turns, you may activate an additional loyalty ability of Urza, Planeswalker." I haven't seen the official spoiler from wizards anywhere, but that makes a big difference. Version 1 does not work with Oath of Teferi because they're both replacement effects. Version 2 does work with Oath of Teferi because Urza would give himself an extra activation, rather than replacing his normal activation. Both versions work with The Chain Veil.

You are correct. Because cards that phase in or out never actually move zones (i.e., from the battlefield to exile, or from the battlefield to the graveyard), but are instead treated as if they don't exist, should you use Teferi's Protection and you have a melded Urza, Planeswalker under your control, when your permanents phase back in, your Urza planeswalker will still be melded. It's no different than if you have Brisela, Voice of Nightmares under your control and that permanent phases back in. It's still melded as Brisela, instead of breaking apart into Gisela and Bruna.

So, the lore junkie in me is REALLY excited about this chain of cards; I've wanted to see a Planeswalker Urza since Planeswalkers first appeared, and this one doesn't seem to disappoint. My only complaints are this is probably going to be EXPENSIVE AS HELL, because Urza + Mythic Rare this, and the second is that I don't like how he can fail, slightly, as a Commander. So, obviously Urza is a powerhouse, even if it isn't the LHA one. He doesn't make free Mox Sappires, or give you a vessel to pour that mana into, but he's mighty, all the same, and Azorius, instead of mono-Blue, but I'd want to use Urza, Planeswalker, and while he's awesome, once he's dealt with, he's gone. Maybe it just reflects poorly on me, asca player, and if you Meld, you SHOULD be able to just win the game right away, but I've had way too many Planeswalkers get countered, or simply destroyed, and if that happens, while Commander Urza is fine; he's back in the Command Zone, and can be played again, his "Planeswalker Spark" just burned out, because the Stones got exiled, and you won't be able to prep for another sylex blast, because you can't meld him, again. It's whiny, I know, but a bit of a shame. Regardless, he's going to be great, and I'll just have to hope I can ever get one.

I have run my Bruna deck for years now, and I will let you know that melding her with Gisela is rarely going to happen. I have played that deck over a hundred times, and I have only had the meld happen about 20 times. It’s only mattered about 7 times. You would have to play a lot of the scary white and blue instants to run this properly. Teferi’s Protection, both blue Force of’s, every artifact tutor, and probably Spark Double for redundancy. It’s going to be an expensive deck, and it isn’t going to be extremely impactful. None of those abilities just win games on their own.

god i've been hating the game design choices for the last few sets and this is no exception yes it's strong but superbland and uninspired. never thought when urza would drop he'd be so lame xs

I love that you can have both urza and the might/weakstone as your commander Edit: yes you can, the RC made a blog saying you can Edit 2: I'm guessing it was either fake or a dream I had because now I can't find the article. I'll keep searching though, because I swear I saw the article 😅

Nah. It's good, but activating a 7 mana sorcery speed ability is expensive. We've had cost reducers before, this is nothing new.

I dont get the hype for this card. Spending 15 mana (or technically 12 if you do it in the intended order) for a two card combo that isnt just winning you the game is so underwhelming. Baby urza is fine but his design is pretty boring and simple and the mightstone thing is actually trash on its own

Mightstone with Brago? Draw two and tap for 2 mana or kill a 5/5 very turn.

I really want to like this cards but with how WoTc is just pushing sets like an assembly line and just trying to cash in on nostalgia makes it hollow.

Mark rosewater has pretty well destroyed mtg. Not a single person has asked for any of this bs that he thinks we want. Dudes out of touch of literally everything and needs removed so we can ya know,have our beloved game back.
