That intro. I can just see text; “On the 21st of February, 1916, the German 5th Army attacked the French-held defences of Verdun.” Ending with “It was the longest battle of the war.”

@manuelortiz2563 Год назад
It could be better: "On the 21st of February, 1916, the German 5th Army attacked the French-held defences of Verdun, a rain of artillery shells opened the battle and the French were ready for the attack..." At the end: "THEY SHALL NOT PASS"
@S_O_U_P
@S_O_U_P 6 месяцев назад
On the 21st of Febuary, 1916, the German 5th army attacked the allied city Verdun. As the last line of defense against the Germans before they took Paris both sides fought hard. The battle would open with hundreds- if not thousands of shells of artillery, the first to come. The battle would last over 300 days and through it all hundreds of thousands of soldiers- French, British and German would be killed or lost, being shot, drowning in their trenches from being to wounded to move being blown to pieces, or losing their lungs to German gas. The French would stand strong and win the hellish battle with 4 words on their mind. "They shall not pass."

@Peter Parlee-Carr Then thank the Anglo-Americans for saving Germany from dismantlement at the end of WW1, and for always backing it in Hitler's murder spree through Europe leading up to the war. Of all the nations in the world, America and the UK are the most responsible for WW2 after Germany.
@orpheonkatakrosmortarchoft4332
@orpheonkatakrosmortarchoft4332 3 года назад
@Peter Parlee-Carr It has been proven that Germany could pay it's war reparations as although the total amount seems astronomical they were allowed a lot of time to pay them, so in total reparations were only a small part of the annual budget. Not only that but german wealth in industry and resources was left untouched by the war. The reasons why the economy crashed was because the governement refusing to pay out of pride defaulted on it's payments, which lead investors not to believe in them anymore and lead to a crash.
@ikillstupidcomments
@ikillstupidcomments 3 года назад
@Peter Parlee-Carr The sad thing is that if the British and French hadn't backed down over Czechoslovakia, Hitler's forces could have been crushed early. If Germany had tried to fight the war in '37-'38, even on a single front, they would have been crushed. They still hadn't built up enough materiel or men to take Western Europe /or/ the Soviets until a few years after that point. A French/British force could have rolled straight into Western Germany basically any time before mid 1940. If Germany had been trying to fight Britain, France, and the Low Countries in the west, Poland and Czechoslovakia in the east, and Denmark and Norway in the north all at the same time instead of piecemeal, the war would have come to an abrupt end. Chamberlain goes down in history as one of the most blind and cowardly leaders of all time for damn good reason.

A colourized photo of a French soldier, slumped up against the inside wall of a half destroyed building . His entire lower body, was gone. Organs spilling out. Eyes vacant. so verdun is that battle in hoi4 which is like 10 divisions vs 15 divisions attacker and it says green but they keep coming everytime you make a divisions retreat and it just never ends and after 1 year of constant battle it just shows red in the end of the day and you can't fucking win anyway

We should never forget the horrific acts done by humankind in the past, that would be the same as letting history repeat itself. That's why we need historians, litterarians and Sabaton.

@@Lol-jp1ju Verdun was ww1. They surrendered in ww2 after all of their best soldiers were annihilated at Dunkirk, with all they had left being a small token force of less experienced troops. They literally had no choice but to surrender.

I don’t think it is since you can’t use copyrighted content on a song and try to get it into Spotify. It might be on SoundCloud. I don’t know though.

0:53 I feel like at the beginning, it would've sounded better for the strings to get in the "fields of Verdun" part while the opening drumroll started, with the guitar jumping in right as the strings ended, leading to a smoother transition. Or have "fields of" play on the strings with the guitar jumping in where "Verdun" would be. Still epic, the strings section alone earned my like.
