I just picked that exact strap up a couple weeks ago for a project out of country and it was a game changer! I can’t believe how much easier it was to basically have my gimbal on me all day, and not be even half as fatigued as I’ve been in the past. Great product, thanks for sharing!

Thanks Peter! 4 months ago I purchased this entire set. The difference is that the Smallrig handle is the 2nd updated version, and the QR F38 is also updated, with a rectangular button with a lock and a wider rubberized surface, but even with it it slides on the Smallrig base, I tighten it as much as I can, but after a while time it weakens again. The new Smallrig Handle already has a socket for attaching a belt, and you do not need to attach to it what is included in the kit, there is also a hole for attaching the socket on the top and side, this can be convenient for left-handers. I've been using this for so long and I had no idea about the mode you showed at 3:29. Thank you very much! Could you please provide a link to additional sockets for the camera?

@@PeterMakholm and now I’m interested in your gimbal academy… I just have a general question. How comfortable can one get switching back and forth between hand held and gimbal? A lot of what I do is with a 70-200 which is likely a poor use of a gimbal, but I’m wondering how practical easy it is to get comfortable switching… hand-held with my 70-200 then pop the 35 on and use the RS2. Those ARE my two use cases, but I’m still so awkward with even balancing the gimbal that I just don’t use it. Also, does your course talk about the auto-tracking on RS2? That’s also a complicated set-up for me (I’m only filming by myself). But when it works, it’s amazing.

Does the base plate attach to other brand and model gimbal? So I can still use this product.

No the baseplate only works for DJI, But you can still use the original QD system for any of you gear.

Your Videos are always fantastic, innovative and informative, thank you so much. This is a fantastic item, the only thing that i think that it fell short on is Smallrigs short sighted approach for ease of use. What the strap comes with is perfect, but they do not make those parts available separately. the DJI RS3 has a removable battery, so if i change batteries then I have to mount the strap elsewhere, the problem is partially solved by coming with one extra quick release that can be mounted in a variety of different places, but what about using other gear or other situations where you may need to have the sling attached differently, there is no support for those parts separately(unless you order a few straps and now have a few extra straps you don't use laying around). I know there is the option to buy the ones off amazon and drill them for adaptation, but to be honest, small rig should just make them available separately. If you have a connection with Smallrig, maybe share this feedback with them :). Cheers

Hi, unfortunately, NO. The mini grip is slightly larger at the bottom, so the bottom plate won't fit.

@@tomsunday I have an RS3 Mini and I bought it to see If I could still use it. It does "work" it just does not mount flush to the bottom of the gimbal. I saw some people slightly bending the outside of the mount to make it fit flush but I didn't do that, I have been using it for months with no issues. There is a slight gap between the gimbal grip and the strap mount but it screws in all the way securely. It definitely does not "fit" perfectly but it does work without any issue so far and I run a Fx30 with a Sigma 18-35 with an MC11 adapter. Just FYI, hope it helps. Grab one from Amazon, If you can't live with the slight gap, send it back. that was my approach.

Really good product information on the smallrig gimbal handle.. however we can see that the smallrig gimbal handle kit is really suited towards the DJI gimbal series instead for the zhiyun Weebill 3 or 3s series.. do u have any tips and tricks in terms of getting the smallrig gimbal handle kit to work on the weebill? thanks!

Yes, if you have a side handle you can use it with any gimbal.

I made something similar with briefcase handle, peak design Plate with 1/4 screw, anchor links and PD slide strap. So DJI RS4 isn't that heavy with my Nikon Z6 + lens + Ninja Atomos V

What is the little quick release you use befween the gimbal and the tripod gimbal stand? And is it arca swiss? Id love to be able to quickly mount the gimbal on a tripod. You said it locks in solidly with the smallrig strap bit, so it cant spin Thanks

That strap is great, I use it with my camera (the Smallrig Black mamba cage has a QD port) and I even bought a separate QD mount for my 70-200 lens foot. Works great!

@@PeterMakholm Not all Black mambas though. My S5 doesn't have it but my S5II cage has it. I've seen that many of Smallrig's newer cages has a QD slot.

If you use the strap a lot it's a good idea to check the connectors once a year or so. I saw a video where the video creator talked about how one of the parts got worn out so the strap failed and the he dropped a big lens on the ground.

Ouch... Yes, that's a good point to raise, but I regularly check the connection to ensure that it works. I think it's a habit I picked up from my time with the Royal Guards.
