This is a true beast. I work for an organization that procured these from Gibraltar stockholdings(that's the name of the co.) This is the only car that has survived horrible terrains of South Sudan,DRC, Darfur etc places that I have been in these cars. I have never met a mech who has overhauled this engine especially in South Sudan where we crossed laggas( temporary rivers) . We had an LC which had clocked over 700k km with no issues at all.Max Respect to this car!!. The most crazy trips I did on this car was in S.Sudan from Yei to Yambio where only the MAN 8X8 trucks and this LC could easily conquer!
I have ridden the land cruiser pickup afew times. It was not comfortable at all. Seated in the back with tens of others on the way to the nearest police station
Once, I broke the rear differential and I had to put it into 4wd and since the rear wheels were not pushing it, it actually became a front wheel drive and I drove through the bush road for about 600+km until I reached the nearest authorized service center.
Hamna huruma 😅 mnataka roho ya mzee hapo nyuma isimame mkifanya hiyo 0 -100. Na mliskip kufit Mbuguas kwa trunk. It can fit 30 mbuguas vile huwa inafanya kwa msako. Kībogo. Nice one canversations team 👊🏿
My daily vehicle in Mara. People asking about consumption, it's 6-7km/litre. Another thing when servicing, make sure the mech gives it 11 litres of engine oil. Some mechs don't get to 11
Nice review Mr. Wokabi. Just to add on that, this beast chews the rough corrugation roads like biscuits hitting 100+km/h comfortably especially when loaded. The ones that transport khat to North Eastern region of Kenya, their pilots can attest to it. Point to note! Be very cautious going downhill when loaded, the brakes tend to fail when doing hard braking. As a newbie, I almost overturned one on those Meru slopes, I was saved by downshifting to second and then first gear after hitting a bump and being airborne for a second maahn! Anyway, it's a beast I'd drive any day anywhere forever.
Recent update, Toyota Kenya is now selling V8 single turbo in this vehicles. Bhogals Nakuru have been advertising since late last year, am pretty sure it's being sold country wide.
*Wokabi forgot to say that: 1. The Landcruiser is made to take you far AND BACK unlike the landrovers 2. It shall be cheaper to buy it brund new from South Africa
This is quite a satisfying video. I read in a review site that the 79 is built to last for 25 years without replacing any major part as long as it is well maintained.
I agree its the only 4x4 most reliable and love. The feeling of driving this powerful vehicle gives u the control of the any road any time. The sound of the engine and shifting of the gears is more of a lorry to manual enthusiasts out there 👍💖
I can't believe Wokabi ulisahau that the 79 is also the vehicle of choice by terrorist organizations. Yaani gari ya magaidi kote duniani. That's how reliable this thing is. My dream and retirement vehicle
Top notch content delivery... Good job.. I have a soft spot for the long chase landcruiser,,, it's very big does that make weird? Because if I am I can settle for the hardtop
If you wanna know how tough these cars are, ask Kenya police in north eastern region of Kenya, where they are abused, driven in insane speed on rough terrains, overloaded pushed to the core but steel they survive
THe greatest of them all. All hail te 70 Series! Been driving a Troopie (78) for the past year and I can confidently say It's the undisputed king of the jungle! Not a daily driver though, its a thirsty one sometimes doing as bad as 5.5kmpL, terrible turning circle and in towns its just awful to be in tose tight roads. But out on the open roads, gravel roads in all wheels, its te best experience you"ll ever experience in any truck!
Of all the car reviews, this one on fire. Same thoughts for me also on acquiring all the models of LC 76,79,78. Then unajaza zote full tank. Tukutane after 2 years!😎
if i think of substitute, which there is next to none in this case..it has to be the defender 110. Ck i wouldn't a Land Rover Defender 110 just for the eyes m curiosity
Wokabi you never disappoint just as the 79,78 & 76.....am very happy and more informed from your car lesson's. Very soon I should be getting one of this insha'Allah.... excellent job and stay blessed mkuu.
