Nice job breathing new life into those boots. You mentioned something about your grandfather raising you. He must be ( have been ) a pretty awesome man. Although I was blessed with wonderful parents I was very close to my grandmother. She was a remarkable lady. She lived to be 103 and has been gone for years, but I still think of her every single day. She remains an influence in my life. Have a blessed week Angelo. ❤🇺🇸

I'm no expert but I think it's done to get the old polish of the boot! It's not really digging into the leather.

If it’s real leather, I doubt you’d have to worry about it. Leather is scraped repeatedly when being made to get any hair off, so I’m sure a little bit of light scraping here wouldn’t harm them as long as you’re not just digging into the material and staying surface level.
