Lived here for a while, can confirm that it's ridiculously beautiful. Anyone wanting to visit should buy a motorbike and ride around the countryside and mountains to escape the crowds of Chinese tourists that now flock to Yangshuo. The views are more spectacular and you can sell the bike back at the end of your visit for approximately the same price. Just make sure you get a Chinese friend to do the deal or you'll get ripped off!

you should have gotten out of tourist traps , the river trip from Guilin is great , but use the buses to go to small villages along river , they are really amazing , only a few or no tourists
