I have come to prefer viewing your mine exploration videos for several reasons. #1 You take and include stationary pictures of unique objects you see. #2 You display a pretty good knowledge of geology and rocks and minerals. #3 You know and use correct terminology for equipment and miners vocabulary. Dude, I can't believe you made it out alive! You could tell that log fracture was fresh as you could see pink on the inside of the fractures meaning it was very recent. I have been watching these mine videos for quite some time and I have never seen gobbing walls go up so high. I was having heart palpitations just laying on the sofa watching this! Be careful!

It blows my mind that those old timbers have been holding back that much weight for more than a century! Wood is no joke, especially when it is jammed in between two rock faces.

I am always awestruck at the ingenuity and sheer backbreaking work all those old 1800s mines took to build. Always makes me appreciate the old days. Also I like ur channel because you actually do sketchy stufff for great content! Thanks

Not often a video on RU-vid would get a reaction from me, but seeing you standing between the two chutes with tons of gobbing held up by old timber got me anxious! I've recently subscribed, been binging your channel, love the content and great video work!

Very cool, and very sketchy as you say. The timbering and gobbing in that upper section is very impressive, the skill and amount of work that went into that is incredible. Looks ready to go in many places, though I guess statistically it's not very likely to give at the exact moment you're in there, unless you do something to help it along. I like the stills a lot too.

LOVED the video, but holy chips man! I couldn't believe you touched that old axe cut support at the top of the stope! Some of that stuff has hundreds of tons of rock above it and those timbers have been hanging on by a thread for 50 years, I'd be scared the vibrations from voice would start a domino effect! I hope you're more careful next time!

Yes, now just imagine all that weight above those broken timbers - falling on top of you. There's a gate on that mine for a reason.

This is a HUGE risk in a mine like this with an untrained eye. Those split timbers can burst at any given moment. DON'T even breath on them~!

that was a great explore. i want to know what is above those stacks of gobbing. i had a thought about what you said about the oldest part of the mine. i believe the oldest part would be the entrance. the face would be time wise the youngest part. just pickin, lol.

AMAZING HOW smooth the walls are, would think there would be more pick ax marks.

Those stress-fractured timbers could fail explosively at any moment. They're already beyond where wood normally comes apart. Interesting mine, but you wouldn't get me in there for anything!

I'm not going to lie. By the end when you were up in the oldest part I was like, "get the hell outta there". I wonder what the miners were thinking with those crazy methods.

I love how people go exploring mines/caves right before it gets dark, are if being underneath thousands of tons of pure stone being held back by 70-200 yr old timbering, in perpetual darkness, where people have most likely died before already isn’t scary enough ?

Very cool explore Jerith! Loved the 12 GA find! Will have to research that. I had to laugh at the bats - it brought back memories of my father and I in the mines and I would scream as one flew by and he would say "they won't hit you!". After a few more of those statements I quit being so jumpy when they flew by. And I get why you continued the explore, you have now satisfied your curiosity of what is up ahead. Is there an upper entrance? Again, great explore and thanks for taking us with you!

The rocks have probably settled and wedged into the walls but I still wouldn't walk under it unless it was the only way out.

Really interesting seeing the inside of these old mines, I can’t believe guys used to work in those conditions! But the whole time you were creeping around on those high ledges with loose rock and crawling around underneath snapped and cracking timbers with tons of loose rock over head, my palms were sweating and in my mind I was screaming GET OUT OF THERE! 😄

Im scared of small tight places. These amaze me how they worked mines back n oldn days. They worked there asses off back then !! Them guys or even gals was tougher then heck !! I wonder how many yrs it took them to dig that mine . Anyone have an idea ? Gold mineing has always been interresting to me. Not so much for the money part but how they figured it all out. From finding the start of the vain to following it. Id like to gold pan someday but my time is starting to run short. Good video.

I believe the iron range was from the Malleable Iron Range Company of Beaver Dam Wisconsin which was also known as Monarch Range Company.

That little hole you squeezed thru reminds me of the famous "The Birth Canal" in that Nutty something cave, can't remember at the moment. That is an ancient mine and I'm glad you made it out safe & sound💯 Lots of gobbing, real cool cave, old timbers, neat colors in spots! Thanks🤙

As an Englishman where we are lucky enough to be steeped in very old history, its humbling to see how ingenious and brave the men were just to forge a living. Speaks volumes to me as to the nature of the United States

Careful buddy. Going into old drifts could be real bad for you as the co2 builds up from rotting wood and displaces the o2. This means you collapse from co2 poisoning.

If you ever find some old Levi's, that's the real treasure

On some of those timbers you can literally see the fresh wood in recent cracks , that stuff is ready to come down at any moment , I would not go back to this one ..

I hate "juicy" mines. I'd imagine it's like being inside a giant nasal passage with a bad sinus infection. So much history and details get dissolved and yeah, it just plain looks bad, I agree with you.

Saw a video here similar to this years ago, and the mine had basically an mine length sluice box running the length of the mine with water flowing through it.

Yea, that old cast iron stove is held together with some strong rivets. Wonder why there's a bunch of extra rivet holes though...

Around 11:13ish when you were looking up into that shaft ,i thought i seen a shadowy figure looking back, probably my eyes playing tricks.

I’m not familiar with mines all that much. Was all those individual stones clipped off the wall and rested inside on top those beams or were those the walls of loose rock that they beamed up to hold back from caving in? Proud of you for adventuring that sketch of a mine but don’t ever get that cray cray again. Just the vibration of your voice could shake free and or collapse… Mines caves and volcanoes aren’t what they seem. My creative juices have been finding some cool things about geology. I used to go to school for architecture and the veil of schools indoctrination had me seeing different architecture for different countries. NOW I see almost all the domed buildings like the White House are in every country and are all similar style. Information can be seen from whatever viewpoint you happen to have at the moment. That’s why it’s always good to keep learning new things. Could you maybe do a review of the ActionAdventureTwins or if you go caving to share your views about what lies beneath our feet? Great videos...but I think you should always have a partner with you. Even if they dont go in at least someone knows where you are. Stay safe and have fun. I have hike thru some pretty scary slot canyons in Utah but always with one or two others...and people back at base knew where we were going.
