@@Zero-wy2gxwho among MJ’s peers was more skilled than him? I don’t think there was a player better than him on offense or defense. I can see some peers being better passers, that’s about it. Who among LeBron’s peers are more skilled than him? KD is a better scorer. Curry is a better shooter. Jokic is arguably a better passer. Giannis is a better defender. Kawhi is a better defender. So if LeBron isn’t clearly more skilled than his own peers, how does he vault over MJ who dominated all of his generation?

great video, you explain very well what your thoughts are. I guess there are 2 things I see you could improve on, the first one is very easy and very effective: At the point where you're asking about which player you're talking about and people should guess (2:41) you immediately tell the answer. I would give people a few seconds more to guess, people like to guess (including myself) but if I don't have time to guess who, and get the answer straight I'm not that happy about that.. the second one is maybe a little more tricky. You're talking about 4 players in this video and you're naming the video the most skilled nba player... I actually would change the name to current nba players because there are so many great retired players, which you're not even touching (or barely). I'm not saying Steph isn't up there, you are absolutely right with your choice but what about others? and positions? but great content, keep it up :)
@DetectiveArgument
@DetectiveArgument 11 месяцев назад
Appreciate the constructive criticism. Watching it back I agree. I should have given more time to guess or asked the viewer to pause the video. You're 100% right on that. The next two videos I make the same mistake and didn't realize but moving forward I'll be better at that. I agree with the second point too. I should have included guys like Hakeem Olajuwon, MJ, Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas to name a few. Probably a good idea to do a part 2 and compare present NBA skill players against past NBA skill players.

9:49 NOT ALL Rebounds are defensive. MANY are offensive - and do NOT change possession of the ball.
@DetectiveArgument
@DetectiveArgument 11 месяцев назад
That's true. I should have been a bit more specific. It's not the prototypical definition, but I would say if a person grabs an offensive board, that player is still stopping the other team from having a chance to score since that other team doesn't have possession. Which in effect, is defense.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!! Ive been trying to tell people that Curry is the most skilled player EVER!!!!! Also him averaging 6+ rebounds at 6’2 is insane considering his height but what makes it more insane is he isn’t that athletic compared to his peers, he can’t get up there like Westbrook or other super athletic guards
@jubjubhenry5612
@jubjubhenry5612 11 месяцев назад
Averaging that many rebounds isn’t that big of a deal with modern spacing and how many long rebounds there are. I’ve never seen Steph pull a rebound he shouldn’t have. He’s definitely not the most skilled ever in my opinion like I don’t see a valid argument that Steph Curry is the most skilled player ever made here. Seems like he’s just a fan and wants it to be true. Me I’d go with Larry Bird, elite at more skills than anybody I ever saw play.

If you saw Larry it’s self explanatory. Larry was elite at so many things it was historic. I agree but do you really think someone could be as successful as curry if he really had "fake handles"? Like what even are "fake handles"? And how fake do "fake handles" need to be to still be able to revolutionize the game the way he has? And professional athletes are highly intelligent when it comes to their sport so how has not a single professional athlete not exposed his "fake handles"? Someone who knows more about playing the game than you do should have figured out his "fake handles" if you figured it out right?

@DetectiveArgument 11 месяцев назад
@bricefleckenstein9666 MJ's up there for sure but given that Kyrie and Steph are much shorter and have to score at the rim without the ability to dunk, I'd give them both the slight edge in terms of skill. For instance, if Nate Robinson and Steph had the same stats/film finishing at the rim, I'd give the edge to Nate Robinson in terms of skill since it's more difficult to finish at the rim the shorter a player is.
@bricefleckenstein9666
@bricefleckenstein9666 11 месяцев назад
@@octaviustoliver-flient3374 Look it up. NOBODY ELSE has missed as many shots as Kobe. *6 seasons* led the league in misses *3 more seasons* #2 in misses. And unlike the 4 seasons that Wilt led the league in misses, Kobe wasn't even in the RUNNING for FG% (Wilt LED the league in fg% on 3 of his "most missed" seasons, was #3 in FG% during his famed 50.4 PPG season). WILT HAD A REASON he missed a lot - he also shot a lot more than anyone else, while converting shots at a VERY high pace for each of those seasons (I think he led the league a total of 7 seasons in fg%, and was ALWAYS in the Top 20). Kobe forced a lot of bad shots AND MISSED THEM - and was not converting at a high rate. Keep in mind that it's not ALWAYS being a center - Larry Bird managed a Top 20 season DESPITE being primarily an outside shot and there being a LOT more centers in the league when HE played than when Wilt played.

@@DetectiveArgument i give you that smaller guys don't have advantages at certain parts of the game, for instance, finishing at the rim, rebounding and etc. but that also means bigger guys have disadvantage at certain parts, most importantly the shooting and ball handling. so you should just take it as it is. smaller guys the better ball handler and shooter bigger guys the better rebounder and finisher at the rim so when it comes to finishing better at the rim, you should give it to MJ because he simply had everything from the atheltic and physical point to the skill point, other than that, if we are strictly sticking to the skill-wise, i agree that Curry is one of the most skilled all around if not the best skilled even compared to someone as near perfect in the game of basketball as MJ. but i doubt about Curry's D though, because often times he doesn't exert himself probably in order to save energy for his offensive end, never the case for MJ. if you take that as conditioning skill, well what can I say...

@@DetectiveArgument You want impressive? Billy Keller (ABA Indiana Pacers for his career) was a 5' 10" white guy - that dunked at least once in a game when NOBODY was expecting it. He was the #2 all time in the ABA on 3 point shots hit (Louis Dampier was #1, had more seasons in the league) - and NOT known for playing inside much IF at all. I think the only shorter person I've seen dunk even on film was Muggsy Boggs.

4:13 Show me ANY current player that can average 48.5 minutes per game for an entire season. And I'll show you Wilt, who did that legitimately FOR REAL one season - and averaged almost 46 FOR HIS CAREER. Bill Russell and Oscar Robinson argued second, at over 42 each. In point of fact, the ONLY person in the Top 10 on that list that played at all in the 2000s was Latrell Sprewell. NOBODY current is even in the competition.
