Great video. A few comments on mounting and unmounting the lens. If you set the lens to f5.6 before removing it the pin will always be in the correct position for whatever lens you attach next. Also I think Nikon suggests turning to the aperture ring to the minimum aperture (largest f number) first, then rotate back to the largest aperture (smallest f number) in that order.

This is a fun camera. I have an FT, an FT2 and and an EL ( which is a whole different animal.) The FT2 is preferable since it is an FTN plus it has a hot shoe for the flash, it uses readily available 1.5 volt batteries and has a plastic tip on the advance lever. And they're not much more that an FTN. In either case, you are using non-ai or later lenses which still had the rabbit ears which are also readily available for reasonable prices, This is a great way to get into 35mm on the cheap! Did I mention that they are bullet proof?

I got algoed this video, I know it's old, but my wife gave me her grandfathers nikkormat and I actually let it sit for a while because I had my ae1. But I gave it a whirl and it actually kind of clicked with me. Once I gave it a few rolls I really enjoyed it though I don't find the shutter speed ring intuitive yet. I love the metering as opposed to the ae-1. My 35mm lens died on my ae1 and though I do have another lens for it, I just kind of wanted to give it a break and use the Nikkormat. I have more lenses for it, those mount on to my dslr without any fuss and I really just don't want to search out any FD lenses right now.

Great video. I have 2 ft2’s and just picked up a ftn but it came without a battery. Can you tell me the model number of the battery for the ftn. It’s different from the ft2. Thanks

The Canon AE-1 is grossly overrated. The A-1 is a much better camera and it's cheaper too.
