What the fuck is going on? I honestly have no idea what the fuck they're doing. I cannot put into words how stupid that looked, there is absolutely no explanation to what that was.
My school has no tryouts. As you would expect, we suck. But I think the main problem with this team is the coaching. Like what kind of fuck nugget thought of this shit?!
There's an actual strategy to this if you want to read this... The blue team is not breaking any rules in any way by doing that. As long as two players keep passing the ball, there's no violations of 5 seconds or anything. On top of that, the other 3 players are standing behind them because they are supposed to box all the other players out and let the two players keep passing to eachother to run the clock out. The only way the white team could get the ball if these kids did it correctly would be to foul and then, they would all have foul trouble and the blue team would shoot free throws instead of finding shots against a clearly more athletic team. Head Coach should deffinately get props for attempting this i hope this method gets exposed and used on a national level as a loophole of rules and gameplay.
Think of it like football, if you huddled every single person around one player with the ball after you hiked it, locked hands and all stayed standing up until the clock ran out... that's how this would be except in basketball rules make you pass or show signs of attack. With athletic enough players that could box out much better and hold longer, imagine how much better it would work with 3 6'4 guys boxing out for two 5'10 guards... especially think if you were up by like 6 late in a game with 2 minutes left in a high school game with no shot clock mind you. Many people don't realize high schools don't have shot clock..
thats sounds like a good idea but the strategy would seem very stupid because it doesnt require practice nor skill to do so and it also sounds like a pathetic plan because they will just lamely win there game its not a true victory and theirs no effort whatsoever so they have 0 chances of going to the professional leagues or being in the NBA
I feel like their is a very easy fix to this. Just go out of bounds and penetrate their little circle thing. your allowed to step out of bounds without the ball so just go around their little circle to the front and step back in bounds therefore your on the inside and can swat it away. If my theory is true both of these coaches are horrible and i should be doing their jobs.
Maybe toward the end of a game this could POSSIBLY be even slightly beneficial. No, nationally this is a pointless, non skilled form of basketball, it is neither fun to watch nor effective in many cases. If you did this anywhere but a white boy school team, Im pretty sure youd be on the bench for a large part of all the games.
Look at the Blue Team's bench, guys. They only had 7 players total available. That "play" was only so they can waste time until the second half. What I'm wondering is: why not just forfeit? It was a guaranteed Loss, no matter what, why make the kids/kids parent's have to drive out for the game? Thumbs this up to get it to the top.
A complete blowout to a team full of scrawny nonathletic white kids wearing headbands who seem to only have a team of 7? This is an utter disgrace to basketball.
Maybe the coach made them pass a certain amount of times before they could shoot so they tried to cheat the system by doing this dumb shit that didn't work. idk. thats the only explanation I could figure out for this dumb shit lol
+ShamSham Didn't watch it long enough to see the score but maybe they were down so much that they just wanted to run the clock without risking them score by passing it around
Lol wtf??!! They DO know the ball goes in the hoop right? The other team helped them by demonstrating it several times. Coach needs to find a new job too. Maybe take up hot potato teachings and lessons 101.
All of those players, that school, and especially that coach, are disgraces to the game of basketball. That school should never play basketball ever again. Wow
Actually it was SMART!!! They realized that they would probably get killed so since there was no shot clock they thought they could try and hold the ball so at least the other team couldn't score
I'd rather watch this kids air-ball, double dribble or travel, that way at least they are trying, rather than watching an embarrassing play like this. I kept sayin WTF throughout the whole video.
The team was completely outclassed with no chance to win, maybe even score. They were just sharing the frustration. The other coach should have called off the full court press if he was a gentleman.
I once watched my school's basketball team's C team game. Our team had two six-foot giants. The other team was moderately sized. We played a 2-3 zone the whole game. Instead of the other team changing their offense so they could get in the paint, they played ALL 5 PLAYERS outside the 3 point line. They just threw up 3 pointers the whole time. I counted 10 attempts. Not one went in. We won something like 50-0. Congratulations. You just played yourself.
Im a former college coach let me explain.... What they are trying to do is a old trick to line up 3 across and to outside blockers and hold it over the sideline and stall. The reason they are doing it is because they are horrible and trying to shorten the game. They are so bad that they are not running it right. I saw this first hand preformed at a high school game in arkansas. The pitiful team burnt out a whole quarter . They bad team was down 8 to 0 at half and 14 -o with 6 mins to go. The final was 23 to 6. If they would have played straight up they would have been beat by 60! It only works when there is no shot clock.. But i must say the white boy team was a disgrace to the game !! They were freaking horrible!!!! Did you hear them say 26 to 0??
That's so sad, whoever their coach is, he's a joke. You have a basketball team and instead of teaching them how to play you've got them doing this jackass routine. Wasting school resources, you have the kids in practice 2 or 3 times a week, the parents come out and you pull something like this?
I can kind of see how this can be affective. The other team keeps getting violations/fouls. Also when they do that, most of the time the ball goes back to the blue team. If they were originally losing by a lot, I can see how this could be a last resort
I remember playing during a huge blowout like this when i was a kid (actually a little younger than these guys), on the losing side. It just made me mad, and at half time i went out and played through it with a lot of effort and anger, eventually getting myself a few effort baskets, in an attempt to atleast keep my self respect. So, i don't understand this either.
I'm guessing there was a certain point spread that they needed to advance in a tournament, and they didn't believe they could come close enough in a real game. This is an insult to my favourite game and to sports in general.
I think this play is the equivalent of going into the fetal position when someone is kicking the crap out of you. I'm not even sure why these two teams would play each other though.
This was a stall tactic created by Jerry Shipp 1964 Olympic Gold Medal Captain, who coached at KIngston Oklahoma in 1980. I was a Senior ball player from the adjoining county and read about it in the Daily Oklahoma, right after it happened. He had the flu and was sick at home for days and came up with the perfect stall at the time. The middle player had to straddle what was then the 10 second line and the three middle players passed it back and forth with one on each end of the three to protect from reaching in. There is the History lesson.
Damn , my school's Girls JV Basketball team played 3 games in a tournament and lost 79-2 (seriously no joke) , 54-13 , and 39-6 . I thought that was sad.. til I saw this
