Guizhou and Yunnan are all mountainous areas. They used to be the poorest areas in China. Now these two provinces are the areas with the highest density of highways and the most bridges in China. Because of the improvement of transportation, these areas have become the areas with the fastest economic growth in China. I have driven almost all those bridges in Guizhou. You don't feel any fear when driving on the bridge because it's just a highway.

I grew up crossing the golden gate bridge and the sanfransisco/oakland bay bridge. Both these bridges are hundreds of feet from the water surface and take like five to fifteen minutes from end to end. With earthquakes being so common here it really is scary. There's very little chance of surviving a three hundred foot fall.

Back in the 60s when I was just a young child, I thought that the Empire State.Building was about as tall as anything could be built and America was the greatest place in the world. Now I see the Sidu River Bridge and it dwarfs the Empire State Building like it was nothing. Oh, boy. America is done for when it comes to construction projects. The street in front of my house is filled with huge cracks and potholes, so I know America has just given up on doing things right. China is the construction king and that's that. America now only leads in crime and homelessness. What a fall from grace for a once-great country. Most of the bridges in NYC, where I live, are old and in disrepair. I suppose nothing good lasts forever.

I don't do bridges very well myself. When I was a kid my father liked to go across bridges with the car. At the Apex, he would always stop the car, and tell us to get out of the car to look over the side of the bridge. (read: Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, the Sunshine Skyway in Tampa, and a few others.) If he were alive today, I think he'd have a heyday with this list. I don't think I would do very well, looking over the sides of any on this list for sure.

I am so afraid of heights that I can’t stand on some balconies. There is no way I would get on any of these!

Even on a clear day that bridge scares me! I always have to try to shut out the terror as I drive across it.

the Astoria-Megler bridge is absolutely terrifying on a really stormy day. honestly, it's terrifying on a clear day. it's super tall, and is only two lands that wind like a rollercoaster tall enough for the giant freighters to go underneath into the Columbia River

I have walked across the Royal Gorge bridge in Colorado many times and it is truly awesome. I have also driven my motorcycle across that bridge - you do have to be very careful of the abundant pedestrian traffic. Contrary to popular belief you can continue driving once you make to the other side.

the Millau bridge is my favorite ! a master pierce of engineering ! it is necessary to take into account the height of the pillars, because the height in relation to the ground has no importance, whether it is 20 meters or 300 the difficulty of construction is the same. especially since the Millau bridge is 2.5 kilometers long! ...and it is just stunning, elegant, just fabulous!
