I myself am a Mileena fan, but the toxic fans don't speak for me either, I'm still to this day in 2022 disgusted by what these fans did, it's absolutely vile and I hope it never happens again.

Honestly my interest in Mileena really started with MK Deception. I enjoyed playing as her because of her move set and unbeknownst to me, she had a veil of mystery to her. I like to think many of us got really interested into Mileena from Mortal Kombat 2011 for……obvious reasons myself included. But still, I liked her designs and she was still fun to play as.

Imagine what would happen if they didn’t’ put scorpion or sub zero in the game I don’t think there would be death threats I think there would be death promises💀💀

I had literally no idea about all this drama with Mileena. I just loved the idea of her. A royal was killed and usurped, the Queen and daughter behaved to stop anymore bloodshed. Kitana was a skilled warrior and royal but Shao wanted something of his blood born of Outworld. So his Court Mage whipped up Mileena. Who I think is a perfect contrast.

No matter what game/movie/show you like there will always be a toxic fandom

I’ve got death threats, r*pe threats, death wishes, got called slurs etc. from Ermac, Havik, Rain, Reptile fans for just mentioning Mileena or having her on my profile picture MANY TIMES while I didn’t even act toxic or joked about her. All fandoms in the MK Community are toxic to be honest.

As a Mileena fan I apologize on the behalf of all Mileena stans I love this character so much,it sucks that the fandom is cray-cray and ruins her reputation in the roster.

Mileena isn't just spicy because of how she dresses. She's the only woman in MK that looks like she wants to be sexy rather than just being made that way. And the way she acts not only makes sense story wise considering her abandonment from her sister Kitanna, her sorta father Shao Khan and creator Shang Tsung, but makes us feel like we could at least hang out with her and make her feel better. Her whole appeal is that she wants love and attention. And we want to give her that love and attention, even if she's purely fictional.

Not all Mileena fans are bad, but damn were the good ones fogged by that toxic cloud left by the others. Trolling is one thing against Lord Boon the master of trolls, but death threats...? You need to make people feel a fear you're probably feeling at home? get help.

Is Mileena my favourite Mk character? Yes absolutely. Was leaving her out of Mk 11 a bad decision? I think so yeah. Does that mean anyone deserves death threats? Fuck no.

I am a huge Mileena fan & NOT one of the toxic ones that went to the extremes of harassment to the NRS team. If I remember correctly, if not Ed Boon himself then someone on the team had mentioned that Mileena was ALWAYS on board to be in MK11. They just kept her out longer to develop her story a bit more. It became almost like a running joke to the team as they already knew that she was coming. For Ed to troll the toxic fans the way he did made me believe that she would be in the game eventually. I always found it interesting how he trolled the Mileena community & NOT the others. THAT in itself was telling. I’m glad that she made it & I enjoyed her a lot in the game.

While Mileena eventually made it to MK11, I still miss my boy Smoke.

I never cared about the female ninjas until recently. Even then I liked Tanya. Mileena was done dirty in 11 and I feel bad for her. Just so rushed.

Actually I think it was a good decision to keep Mileena out of one MK installment because let's face it. At this point MK roaster is the most predictible thing on earth. This whole situation was a fever dream to me, as a mileena fan i was obviously repulsed by some of the stans who acted the way they did but i was also suprised at how many people also loved mileena.

As much as I love Mileena and is one of my Favorites and sees the Potential of being a Dark Neutral Person with a Complicated Sisterly Relationship with Kitana like Gamora and Nebula and Weiss and Winter,but instead they treated Her like Bait and Turned the Fanbase Toxic and Ed and NRS are the Ones to Blame because accidentally or not they did it on Purpose and it's no Coincidence that she won every Award instead of other Characters in the Roster that deserve it the most,this is one of the Biggest Mistakes and Worst Things both Ed and NRS have ever done.

I have been a Mileena fan since she debuted in MK2. But the sheer level of toxicity from the fan base is astounding. I regret sometimes saying that I am a Mileena main because people automatically lump me in with those lugheads who would troll the devs. It's despicable.

Personally, I don't think that mileena was intended to be added to mk11. Reason being that with the story. Remember, mileena did 'die' in the previous game, so her being there would be too much of a gap to fill. Especially with a story 3-4 hours long already. So that's my first reason. Secondly when Ed made that slip up, remember that rain was already a dlc in a previous installment. So him saying mileena and rain in the same sentence would maybe him hinting at adding fan favourite dlc's not just mileena and rain, which wouldn't be a problem and that's coming from a smoke and ermac fan. Third and final point, as you've stated mileena dresses too 'spicy' and following the controversy of mk9's female dressing too erotically they prolly wanted to minimize that as much as possible. When the mk battle of the realms movie trailer dropped, I kept seeing “where’s mileena” and didn’t know she was in a list of characters to appear in botr. And to see the creators mistake li mei for mileena had me dying 🤣 since it meant mileena wasn’t in the in the movie

I'm a Kitana fan, but even I know if you have Kitana, you have to have Mileena. It's like having Scorpion without Sub Zero. Like these games have those iconic characters with rivalries, so it's weird to see when NRS drops the ball. Mileena wasn't in MK5, Kitana wasn't in MK6 (just the PSP version), and Mileena was skipped in MK8. And then the last 2 live action movies have Sonya fighting Mileena for whatever reason.

I just lost my dog and the fact that people would compare that pain to the disappointment of their favorite character not being added to a game is fucking disgusting to me.

All of the female ninja characters always dressed spicy. I came to love them because of their abilities. Kitana, Jade, and Mileena's badassary drew me to them. Especially given that I first saw them in Shaolin monks...great introduction to the trio from a character standpoint

The only one not announced in MK11’s base roster that I was disappointed wasn’t available at launch (and never added in dlc) was Kenshi. He may the most fun I had with the game in 9(dlc) and X. I was glad to see Noob and Kabal though.

I fully admit that I'm a Mileena fan, but I do think what they did to her in MK11 was questionable... I mean, having her be DLC, and then not have her wear those revealing clothing that she's known for, and having in my opinion one of the worst voice changes I've seen/heard in a long time. However, I am not one of those toxic fans who resort to death threats if they don't get their way. For me at least, whenever I want a specific character appear in a video game, I often give hints, or beg for them to appear. For example, when Super Smash Bros Ultimate revealed that there was gonna be DLC characters, two characters I begged for the most part to be part of the DLC were Dante from Devil May Cry, and Shantae from the series of the same name. And then, when the Round 10 Mii costumes were revealed, of which both Dante and Shantae were revealed as being Mii costumes, I was very upset. But not to the point where I would send death threats to the people of Nintendo. And I did ended up buying the costumes anyway. So yeah, I am one of those fans who love to see my hopes and wishes to happen, but not to the point of doing something terrible that like a death threat.

I love Mileena so much, I fell in love with her as a kid because my fav color was pink and like most other kids, loved that she was like super playful with her violence and then when I got into her lore it solidified it. I don’t look at her sexually but I love that she plays that into her character design because…idk girl werk, get that blood bag?. I feel she should def be a base game character but the death threats and everything were COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY and VILE. Like tf? I was sad when she wasn’t in it initially but I made peace with it shortly after and was happy for the next game for a possibility of her because she’s my main and fav. Idk she’s just a childhood comfort character, with so much potential in ways her story could go and how she could grow as a character. Toxic Mileena fans need to sit down.

I like Mileena, kid me loved anyone rocking Sais in a fight and she was fun to play. After seeing some of the behavior from the toxic bunch I liked her a little less afterwards. Especially when Boon was making tweets that had nothing to do with Mortal Kombat and those people (and other fanbases) thought tweeting their demands was somehow appropriate. I remained indifferent on if she was dlc or not - it wouldn’t ruin the game for me. Plenty of characters sit out a game or two, just makes me psyched for their return if I had any feelings invested in them. Her particular fan base I’ve met plenty of people who wasn’t foaming at the mouth and demanding she made her way into this game, or any of the previous games. I think all characters were planned from the start, Mileena included. The only one I’m curious or confused about was the whole: was or wasn’t Ash Williams happening as a guest. Obviously he ended up a didn’t happen. Death threats are definitely never the answer.

Mileena is essentially the female Scorpion, and she was created as such. Mileena showing her "ugly" teeth is pretty much the exact same concept of Scorpion taking off his mask revealing a Skull. It's supposed to be shock value. I believe Ed even said she was basically the Scorpion to Kitana's Sub-Zero in an interview in MK Deception. And character arc is fairly interesting and even relatable. Created for the purpose of replacing Kinata, she goes through an identity crisis of sorts. She constantly calls Kinata her "sister" and is surprised when Kinata kills her in several ending even canon endings (Mk4) even though Mileena apparently exist to kill Kinata. This could hint that Mileena is conflicted about killing Kinata. I think a lot of people resonate with what people expect them to do versus what they want to do and Mileena encapsulate that perfectly. She's just a fairly interesting and compelling character and represents the mk brand very well in her concept in brutality and shocking contrasting teeth with her pretty body. To the point I believe she is the second or third most popular character in the game. She's pretty much the concept of a Siren put into Mortal Kombat and just works. So it's really no surprise to me there was so much backlash when they decided not to add her in the beginning. They wouldn't put Sub-Zero in without Scorpion and that sounds so ridiculous people don't even entertain that as a possibility. Especially when Netherealm just brings characters back on a whim with magic nonsense anyway. I truly don't know what they were expecting not including one of the most popular characters in the games history and acting like it was just some impartial decision. I'm not behind the death threats however fan demand for Mileena was too high to not include her. And as much as I want to believe she was planned "from the start" I don't think she was. Kitana having Mileena's Sai's should be proof that they didn't have time to add her before the game launched and this was the best they could do with that time. Sure it takes months to make a character, but she wasn't planned from the beginning.

Honestly, I love Mileena as a character. Her design, her mannerism, her lore, her potential, and her moveset. Her and Johnny Cage are my favorite fighters in MK. But God, everytime I look through anything posted by either MK or Netherrealm, there's always so many people begging or threatening shit just for an ounce of Mileena in MK11. I don't think Ed slipped up when he mentioned Rain and Mileena in that interview, I think he mentioned them because he knew that the MK fanbase wouldn't take it literally,I viewed that interview as Ed deconfirming Rain and Mileena as he's usually more cryptic and secretive which means that if he were to outright tell the truth no one would believe him (Sort of like reverse psychology,him telling the truth in that interview is the same as lying)

I’ve recently joined the fandom, but i’ve always liked and heard about MK. It was always something about Mileena that I liked, and getting to know about her story along w other cast members made me fall in love w the game & her more. Hearing about her downfall in MK11 and how she wasn’t in the game was a let down, but an even more let down is that she was possibly rushed, and her combos weren’t that good. They kind of made one of the popular characters an undesired player. I wish the toxic Mileena fans just let the creators to their job, bc when you think about it, since she did die in MKX and MK11 was all about time travel, there could be a possibility she would appear in MK12, but who knows. Plus, she has a daughter so they might’ve added her to MK12 roster just to keep Mileenas legacy going, but I hope that Mileena is in MK12, along w her being in story mode. But if she isn’t, it will be a disappointment, but no one should be that upset to the point where they threaten someone.

That's funny. I just ended a discussion few days ago, with a person who acted as if I insulted their entire way of being, by saying that Mileena is a self-loathing psychopath, who is weaker than the most of main characters in the lore (ex. Liu Kang, Kitana, Scorpion...). Apparently Mileena is just a bullied and misunderstood hero, who snacks on people solely out of necessity... Oh, and she's obviously one of the strongest characters. Why? Because she has a cool set of moves, mechanically speaking... Mileena is actually my favorite female character in MK, but I like to see things as they are. I can't remember a single important fight she won, she was frequently called-out to be a terrible leader, she shows obvious signs of jealousy over Kitana's beauty and skills, she clearly takes great enjoyment from brutally devouring living people, and she obviously does not take her failures well. She does not even take critique well. Not at all. Funny enough, I think those things make her such a compelling character in the first place. As for being bullied? I don't think MK plot went there. At least not yet. For now it's generally considered, that Mileena gets the treatment she deserves. But I won't be surprised if there'll be a retcon in the future.
