i agree fives deserved more. but in a way it makes sense. when youre down to earth you tend to become more of a background character in real life too. but in a good way. drama happens around you but not to you. you just vibe and enjoy the presence of others. down to earth people are always underrated and dont need attention like most people.
A cool quality about Fives is just how capable he can be when put to a task. During the Dome Experiment Special, when Benson went all 'wilderness survivor' mode, it was Fives who naturally assumed the role as leader, not Skips or even Pops. Then in that one episode when the dome was placed with the button they were told not to push, the dome worker acknowledged that Fives and only Fives was the most cut out for it. My boy deserved better, there were a plethora of episodes that didn't need to happen, they could've been replaced with Fives-centered episodes.
High Five Ghost is so cute, ghosts are usually supposed to be scary but Fives was like this cute little guy you could make a cute little squishy toy of him.
I agreed with you all the way. Hi-5 Ghost deserved so much more. He was a character that I think anyone could be friends with. I wish he got more episodes focused on him. While Skips is my favorite character in the show, Hi-5 ghost had more of a story we missed. I wanted to learn more about him.
I heard that the purpose of Thomas was to have Mordecai and Rigby move up in the park but they didn't know what to do with him. So they made him into a spy to give him a purpose and to write him out too.
nah I feel like Thomas was already as fleshed out as he should be. He was the goat, he knew karate and martial arts and was a literal spy for russia and bro folded Muscleman with ease the muscle of the team. And the slushie episode with him was peak. Even with all that keep in mind he was introduced later in like 6 or smth. Fives is was more underrated and was in since S1 thats outrages!
I've ALWAYS thought Fives deserved SO MUCH MORE! IMO, he just seems like the most CHILL dude to hang out with. He's friendly, thoughtful, cool, charismatic and just seems like the type of person you could fall back on when you need help
I’ve always felt J.G and the writing team missed the great chance on showing hi-5 before he was a ghost in a past life and might’ve even been able to go into the lore of the park or something related to mr.mallard
He always felt bland compared to the other park members (aside from thomas at the beginning) so I understand the decision. Glad the later seasons gave him a chance tho
What I disliked about hfg is that he never uses his ghostly powers, he forgets that he is already death and acts like he’s in danger and gets scared he’s the biggest coward of the group even though literally nothing can happen to him it’s just so frustrating He can phase trough stuff and float but acts like he doesn’t have these powers
It's actually insane how little screen time he was given, usually treated as a background character despite being a main character. In a show with a main cast of only 7 characters, 8 seasons and like 260 episodes, the fact that he only gets ONE devoted to him and like 3 or 4 where he even plays a half-significant role is downright baffling. No other character in fiction has ever gotten the shaft quite that bad I stg and it's not like they forgot about him either. He's in so many episodes just doing little to nothing and he has pretty solid, consistent characterization through his dialogue. There's this notion I see in the discourse about him sometimes that he's too down to earth and too normal to have any episodes about him, as if he doesn't have any flaws that warrant stories, but that's hogwash. Poppycock. Hi-5 Ghost is cool, agreeable, and loyal to a fault, he's kind and logical, but he's also a bit spineless, naïve, passive, cowardly and sensitive. When faced with direct confrontation, he tends to run away or take the easy way out, and he's a chronic people-pleaser. He eats at Wing Kingdom all the time because Muscleman likes it but in the Postcard, it's revealed Fives actually hates it. Nothing is ever really done with this though, FIves never grows or changes, the closest we get is Struck By Lightning, a pretty depressing episode that portrays his friendship with Muscleman as totally one-sided, and then has him *almost* do some soul-searching before Muscleman just kidnaps him and almost gets them both killed, somehow magically repairing their bond (and the status quo) in the process. I don't even think his relationship with Muscleman is toxic or anything, they mean a lot to each other and they have a really nice friendship for the most part, I just think the show never really bothered examining who Fives is outside of that, while Muscleman had a plethora of focused episodes that Fives wasn't even involved in. Some might say Fives isn't "funny" enough to be focused more on the show but like- he's a ghost- who is also a high five. I feel like that's pretty funny on its own but beyond that, he has a lot of funny moments that come from him just being this silly, good-natured little creature. In the episode where Rigby gets his hand stuck in the VCR, Fives tries to remove it by using his "family's technique", which is leaning in real close and telling the VCR "you're great :)" and if that moment doesn't perfectly sum up what makes Fives special, idk what does.
hi 5 ghost is the most criminally underused and underrated character in the whole show, i mean he’s in the main 7, but doesn’t get focused on or talk much. the postcard is the ONLY episode wit hi 5 ghost as the main character by himself, and it’s an amazin episode. fives deserved better in the show, along wit techno, both really amazin characters
I completely agree with you. He deserved much more prominence being a character who appeared from the beginning of the series. They left him so aside that he didn't have his own episode until season 5 when most of the other members of the park already had more than 6 or 7 episodes of their own, even in exit 9B they had to make clips from his past because the character didn't had had prominence until then (a past that is never investigated again). I feel like there were a lot of episodes that could have had Fives as the lead instead of some of Muscle Man and Starla, like the episode where Muscle Man goes "bald" or where they have to spend a weekend apart. Furthermore, it was not that difficult because they previously introduced both his brother and his father or I reiterate the clips from his past in exit 9B that could have given a lot to the character. It is a pity 😕
he's good because you only see him in small doses. i don't think fives has enough on his own to carry multiple episodes. also its hard to write for him as he doesn't have a real character flaw. rigby is lazy mordecai is neglectful benson had a bad temper pops is naive etc. high five doesn't have a bad trait
