13:18 I also recommend a song from Sabaton’s Carolus Rex Album, called A Lifetime of War, easily one of their most underrated songs alongside its Swedish alternate version En Livistid I Krig. Its about the Thirty Years War.

It's always wild for me when I remember that Benjamin Franklin was born in 1706, just one generation after the Battle of Vienna. The other founding fathers were mostly men in their 20s-mid 40s, and they were genuinely astonished at how much energy he still had at his advanced age during the revolution.

It wasn't even that chaotic, like it worked in that time actually quite well and it wasn't even that unusual, at least not during the medieval times. There were a lot of small principalities and free cities, most of the principalities were just the realms of Imperial knights, which were just knights without a lord between them and the emperor. So it wasn't that different from other feudalist kingdoms, they just cut out the middle management in some cases. Just because the HRE wasn't as centralized as France or England doesn't mean it was dysfunctional. The opposite, actually. All those different interests and factions made for some very lively politics while canceling each other out in getting too powerful on their own.

For me, the early modern period to ww1 is probably the best way to interpret how warfare in most high magic settings would he handled.

The Two World Wars is what I call the Great War Era, with the Cold War being the Trasition out of it. Now we are entering a new Era as tje transition completes

And besides all the absolute nonsense in Europe which is all fascinating. Japan united attacked Korea trying to invade China, and was surprisingly successful with the exception of Admiral Yi using his smaller fleet to take out all the Japanese resupply ships. And an army of Buddhist monks.

To be fair, Admiral Yi was a tactical genius, and had turtle ships,and was surrounded by idiots, which makes his victories even greater.

austria and prussia were pretty much always the two rivals that fought over control of germany. of course, eventually prussia won.

People should stop using maps of that include HRE internal divisions in maps about europe and show it just one "solid" realm like they do with other european realms. Either that or they should show fiefdom bordergore that was happening with rest of "feudal" realms before states started to centralize again. But I guess people like to do that because HRE has most accurate maps of eras and it never managed to modernize its internal divisions.

I mean, for middle ages proper sure France and HRE weren't much different in unity, but for the the Early Modern Era France, England and Spain etc had become sufficiently centralized states while (especially the post Peace of Westphalia) HRE remained at most a Confederation with it's member states (especially Austria and Brandenburg-Prussia but also some of the other larger ones like Saxony and Bavaria to a lesser degree) acted fairly independently. So for that era and later showing the HRE states as separate but showing France etc in one piece does make sense.
