502 is probably my favorite song of all.. When (So far , so good, so what) was released I listened to it over and over. I felt THIS album more than any other..
I woke in the middle of the night last night with that song stuck in my head. That Jeff Young solo! Just otherworldly! Bought it when it first came out and it killed me last night every bit as much as it did back then. Saw them with Savatage opening for Dio in Providence. That was the tour where Dio really jumped the shark with the ridiculous spider stage prop, and the hair band refugee Craig Goldie. But Savatage was awesome. "Hall Of The Mountain King" rocked!
So far, so good is my favorite! Followed by KIMB, Countdown, R.I.P., and then Peace sells and Dystopia. Megadeth just has so many great albums/songs! 🤘
In Set the World Afire, when the end of the solo at 4:12 is sustained over the return of that crushing verse riff and Dave comes back snarling... fucking hell. Modern bands can downtune all they want and never hold a candle to that level of heaviness.
The funny thing is, it seems like this record got good reviews when it first came out but then all of a sudden years later a bunch of critics decided "nah it's bad" and ever since, it has sadly become overlooked
My favorite Megadeth album. Rust In Peace is fantastic don't get me wrong, but I feel myself gravitating more towards So Far, So Good, So What? because I love the raw, gritty and merky production it has. It's one of those albums that doesn't need a whole lot of polish or refinement to be truly amazing.
Fucking great. That album put me on to Megadeth when it first came out back in the day! Even w/ the lineup changes... after the 1st three albums they were good but it was never had the same raw feel.
After (loving) Peace Sells, I ate up this album, when it was released, for it's onslaught driving metal feel (and especially from the opening chords of side one). When Rust came out, I wasn't immediately blown away because it didn't have that heavy thick sound this record gave. Rust had to grow on me over the years (and what a masterpiece of a great album too). So Far is criminally underrated and in my opinion, my favorite Megadeth album (not their best). Great video man!
