i have seen him in concert 25 times . Bob Weir is the most Unique , GENUINE , rhythm guitar player that ive ever heard . There is No one else who does what he does on rhythm .

Forrest McDonald is a criminally underrated guitarist. He’s best known for his guitar solo in Bob Seger’s Old Time Rock & Roll but honestly he’s the most insanely amazing guitarist overall I’ve ever heard. First time I saw this one 😳 *serious chills* ⬇️ “Forrest McDonald Blues Solo Texas from the award winning CD Spirit of the Blues”. Glenn Campbell and Roy Clark could play anything - country, rock, and classical. Eddie Van Halen said he wished he could take guitar lessons from Glenn Campbell. Terry Kath of Chicago is another legend who could play anything. If you listen to early Chicago albums you will hear country, rock, jazz, classical, fusion, you name it. Jimi Hendrix thought Terry was the greatest guitarist. Get a pair of headphones, a good stereo, and listen to Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall.
You can add long time Bob Seger guitarist Drew Abbott. Alice Cooper had Glen Buxton in the original group, then Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter in his first solo band.
If you listen to isolated Bob Weir you'll notice that a lot of his playing is a complimentary lead behind Garcia's lead. At times Jerry would play what I'd say is a softer rhythym and let Bobby's rhythm be lead.
I never knew about this til Edward Van Halen died . Ed was close friends with Malcom Young . In one interview Ed said he only listened to AC/DC at that time .
Robert Frippe? UNDERRATED?? Gimme a break - he’s a guitar player’s GOD. On Brian Eno’s “Another Green World” his work was beyond masterpiece. This was a great video, and I actually learned a lot about some of the other guitarists mentioned, I was just floored to see Robert Frippe mentioned as “underrated” … never would have believed it. Maybe I’m just old I guess 😅.
No, you are surely NOT old. I completely agree with you. Fripp laid the foundations of progrock not just by his compositions, but also with his technique. And another one, Kerry Livgren may have been overlooked as an excellent guitarist , but he is certainly not underrated, given his multi-instrumentalist skills in Kansas and beyond.
Jimmy Herring is the new Danny Gatton.... the BEST guitarist you've never heard of. I am still shocked at how many of my peers have never heard of him.
I don't know if you've been living on another planet but Malcolm Young, Leslie West, Kerry Kivgren, and Andy Summers have been revered for a very long time. There is nothing underrated about any them. Leslie West was Huge When he was with Mountain back in the 60's and 70's. He was a monster and everyone knew it. He was as revered as Eric Clapton in the USA. And knew more about rock music than anybody. Kerry Livgren has ALWAYS been considered a great guitarist and song writer. All Kansas fans know this. Malcolm Young is perhaps the greatest rhythm guitarist ever. Rhythm guitar is a very important skill and he was always the solid ground for Angus. Without Malcolm, there might not have been an Angus. Andy Summers is older than Eric Clapton and has played music his whole life. He sold his Les Paul to Eric Clapton during the Yardbird days. He played guitar for the Animals and then became the leading busiest studio session player in London in the 70's. That was well known by all musicians. He was the session player of the 70's to what Jimmy Page was in the 60's. Andy could play anything and read sheet music. His work with the Police speaks for itself.
I seen Roy Clark live at a college and he was fantastic he could play anything that they handed him. What a great show. I am a classic rock fan. Seen a lot of bans . Roy was one of the very best. May he RIP
Izzy stradlin is massively overlooked if it wasn't for his rhyme guitar work and all the writing he did gnr wouldn't have been jack crap. They focus on slash and Axl all the time when it comes down to it.
"Underrated" doesn't mean anyrhing anymore. The word is cringing, it's disgusting, it's all about the people who use it, while nobody should even care. People should appreciate and enjoy art, without comparing, labeling or rating it.
@@netosampaio8548 I agree that it’s overused. But the point of my comment is that most people are using it incorrectly in the first place. They mean to say “under appreciated”. It’s not the same thing.
One I would have put up here would be Steve Barttek. He got his start in the band Oingo Boingo with Danny Elfman. He is quite talented in playing the guitar, and his grimace is unforgettable. His solo work further shows this off. Another one would be Vicki Peterson of the Bangles. Although much of the band's legacy focuses on singer/guitarist Suzanna Hoffs, Vicki also did vocals on some of their songs and helped write many of them.
