@@PurpleninjawvI do see that point a lot. But from some players perspective I have to agree with a lotta nerfs being needed. Like for example the fact that tanks can build heavily into anti magic but not anti ad? Black Cleaver is 24%, stack with last whispers 30% for 54%, this is excluding lethality and the amount of champions that also have anti armor passive such as darius. The fact that tanks are now next to useless feeling is quite frustrating as a solo player who prefers to play more supportive as a front liner. Not to mention I can only imagine how much adc's love the role to face off against assassin's at their strongest with the current state of lethality. Also in case it wasn't enough I'm sure makes were balanced around their normal 500-600 ap full build. Now they easily hit 900+ by late game. Let's be real here, the game state is in a kinda funky spot where no matter what role you play, you get shafted in a way that feels awkward and less fluid. An overhaul imo could be cool to see on the balancing end. Every champ should at least feel viable. Except teemo, delete teemo. 😄
28:59 this is the part I still struggle with the most as a support: letting a lost cause die. It's hard to not go in and get yourself killed trying to save an overextended ally, especially when you know that ally is about to spam ping you right after they die
Hey Kerx, nice video and very nice Pyke mechanicks :). I am also trying to learn Pyke, so i play him in the Support role. However i see a lot of Pykes in mid and jungle. Can you make a video that you play him mid and how it should be played differently (i am a mid player myself, so i prefer to play more champions there rather than support). I think an "overall" Pyke video, where you explain everything in all positions would you a banger! Keep up the great work! Nice thumbnails btw :)
Pyke mid goes for super aggressive laning runes and wants to abuse his base stats in trades! Same goes for jungle pyke - he goes for the most aggro set up with Sudden Impact, Empowered Attack, Eyeball and overgrowth for most AD! He's also trying to roam as much as possible! Pyke jungle got nerfed a lot and is way more inconsistent than mid pyke (and even he is inconsistent :D)
I think the game became unbalanced since the patch that new runes and boots got introduced Vastly cause of the stats boots granted and the gold was not in comparison. Also new rune system made everything more unbalanced. They also buff red kayn cause its not as broken as blue kayn.i dont get it.
Ngl seeing Mr pyke picked gives me the shivers because he's so dang slippery, if it's a good pyke they always manage to wreak havoc and then sneak away 😔 it is what it is tho, can't afford not to ban the cat so he gets to exist in my games.
I had to pause at the start to make this comment. I don't face many Pykes at mid but that is the ONE champion i CANNOT seem to ever do great against. Any Chance on a possible video on how to play against Pyke at mid? Just some in general tips would be massive for me to get better.
I think, since they nerfed the E damage to minions a while ago, his wave clear is pretty bad, so basically most other champs can keep lane priority. So you basically constantly shove the wave which means either 1) he stays in lane farming while you rotate first (and nothing tilts a pyke more than staying in lane), or 2) you can punish his roams by [first pinging that he's missing, and then] taking turret plates.
Pyke's try to force trades on you - it's more about learning is relativ range of engage and what he can / cannot do Abiding by certain rules makes it easier to avoid certain death and then you can force the pyke to roam often. Just keep in mind: following an assassin into fog of war is like wanting to die!
Turns out if have a ton of flat pen getting 30% pen to deal (close to) true damage to squishies so they die from AA Q into instant R is kinda superior compared to granting my R 20 more damage
@RiftGuidesWildRift fair, but I think squishies will die regardless, and it's so much money to invest in for so little stats and an antiheal passive that let's be real pyke is not a great applier of.... I'd rather just get a survivability item at that point, allowing me to stay alive long enough in fights to get my ults off
He is a bad applier for that - I 100% agreee - however I can't afford to buy GA in most games as no one will protect the GA. I'd rather go for even more raw damage (like something batshit crazy such as hullbreaker for absurd AD numbers or Steraks) just to juice out more damage (but usually %pen is a bit more powerful in that regard due to the utility benefit
@RiftGuidesWildRift ooooh I never thought about hullbreaker before, I like to play a weird version of pyke mid with yommus rush into the new statikk shyv to help me clear waves faster and roam... I usually end up doing a lot of tower damage from the splitting and attack speed so maybe hull should be something I think of in some games, steraks is nice but the way its lifeline passive works gives pyke literally 0 shielding so I never really consider it over the others. Usually I just get deaths dance because any % dmg reduction on pyke is heavily welcomed and the heal is small bonus while you are resetting ult or maw of malmortius. Maw really helps give you that extra bit of hp you need and prevents you from being executed by a lot of spells
@RiftGuidesWildRift also another note, while the thing about GA is usually true for some adcs and other immobile champions, pyke isn't one of those. It's a great item on him, it always heals basically the maximum amount because you can't get bonus hp and allows your spells to come off of cooldown while in stasis allowing you to easily escape even if your team didn't defend you due to how slippery pyke is unless the enemy has some sort of traps like jinx or Caitlyn or a soraka
I never really thought pyke as a top tier champ in the support role. But as something else like jungle I never thought of, but that might be a more suited role for pyke honestly, but not for support. Because he’s like a zed or a tryndamere. He falls off when he gets enough gold or full build. So he’s good at killing, but what else does he actually provide to the team after taking away most of the gold from ADC’s or other champs, and falling off because his only niche is just killing. Yes he has a mid to low tier pull compared to blitz, thresh, leona and naut. He has a stun, but he needs to place himself in a certain position for that stun and he would be the worst front line if he was a support. Other than that, he has nothing else to offer. Thresh? Has a better hook, has flexibility without to use the hook in multiple ways. His hook stuns / roots. Thresh has two other forms of CC, that is not linear either, they are flexible in multitudes of different positioning and situations. You can setup multiple creative ganks with lantern, provide shield, check bushes or dragon / baron, clear wards and provide shielding which I been saving a lot of champs lives with.
On top of that, I also don’t see why he’s a threat. Almost everytime I run into a pyke player as a thresh. I kill him so easily. I think pyke only seems to be OP is because were mostly in a squishy team comp meta. Thats why when I thresh, pyke always die. So if you properly pick against him simply mostly by tanking. Easy win.
@@Walid-c4p I fluctuated from Diamond 1 to masters last season playing less than 200 games. I play on and off lately due to work. My arguments choosing a champ as takes are always going to be the macro rather than the micro. Pyke just doesn’t provide much, and its the truth. He’s a VERY GOOD assassin and getting kills, so yeah his micro is good especially if you master it. But when he falls off like any other champs that just falls off due to how simple Pyke’s kits is for higher outplay, then he doesn’t provide much. Barely any utilities, not much complexity to his kit to allow for higher outplay. Barelt any effective CC’s besides his stun, but his stun is made for killing mostly. When pyke finishes his build, he doesn’t provide anything to the team but maybe taking more gold away from your teammate’s. Then there’s the argument of just face tanking him to win.
