Fun fact: Jim in his Twitch Stream claimed that he was eliminated because producers wanted him to start drama with Robert, but he said "fuck no" and producers wanted him out for that. Seems like he gave up on the show after viewing this more of a drama show than a cooking show.

Most unfair elimination in season 1 was Carolann. She was a kitchen manager of a multi-million dollar restaurant in NYC before Hells Kitchen. She was one of few people who up to that point showed some competency in the kitchen. Wendy thought cold water boils faster than hot water. Jeff admitted he had never worked a line before. Carolann got eliminated for not bailing out more incompetent people on their stations.

Treating Curtis like he was wronged or a victim of an unfair elimination when in reality he had been bad the entire competition, failed miserably in the Sushi challenge and then failed to bounce back from his challenge failure during service and sunk his team. Chris going home on Season 1 was because Ramsay was having none of it and he seem to have a target on his back : - Since the signature dish and Chris mentioned about “Executive chef” , Gordon went ballistic on him - Mentioned that Chris sit his ass down all day and on the line he is slow - Then Chris was late on the first morning challenge and Ramsay was having none of it and give him as much shit as possible - You could say that over the show , Chris did got somewhat better but Ramsay still have a personal problem with him - Also we only saw what was on camera and on film. We never saw what happened behind scenes - Not only that , when Red team lost two services in a row , Ramsay mentioned that “red tean you guys shrink” , and put Micheal to that team , and mentioned the lack of leadership of Chris - You add that Micheal was doing a better job in the red team and was carrying it , pretty much make Ramsay on “okay I am gonna kick out that plank anytime” - On the very last service on Micheal vs Ralph , Chris refused to comeback for the final

Unpopular opinion: I don't think that Donya's elimination was as bad as people say that it was. Donya was on thin ice leading up to that nomination after she struggled to say that Sandra was the weakest chef on the red team during the final 10 and Chef Ramsay let her know that. Donya was a better cook than Jason but her lack of confidence during the tail end of her run and her failures to delegate her own course during charity night doesn't really translate to being a head chef, which is what caused her to be eliminated.

Not saying she was a bad chef but she just didn’t fit well enough with this talented cast to begin with and I think if Sandra had more confidence in herself and was more consistent, then I could see her go further but in that talented season, I think 10th place was fair enough for her. Before judging what constitutes an unfair elimination I think most viewers need to realize that this show isn’t just about who has the best services or who cooks the best dishes. They are competing for a head chef job to run a kitchen, not a line cook job. There are way more intangibles like leadership, creativity, communication, work ethic, composure, confidence and the ability to bounce back from your mistakes that are needed to have success. Just because someone is decent in service doesn’t mean it’s automatically an unfair elimination if they are lacking or not showing any growth or improvement in other critical areas necessary.

I have a theory that Chef Ramsay actually picks the finalists early on, while still cutting out the fat, leading to unfair eliminations of people he already knows don't deserve to win. For example, he probably decided that the only people capable of winning Season 9 were Will and Paul, leading him to base most of the eliminations on keeping those two around while maximizing entertainment. I am aware of some flaws with this theory (Josh versus Alison in Season 14), but it just makes sense to me.

For me the most unfair eliminations from season 11 would have to be Jessica and Anthony. The red team even mentioned in episode 7 that it wouldn’t have been fair to nominate Jessica if they didn’t nominate Susan, yet she still got the boot while Susan outstayed her welcome. And Anthony, while he was beginning to lose his confidence and really messed up in episodes 14 and 15, the fact that he left before Zach is still one of the biggest robberies in HK history.

Chris: I think this elimination is why Ramsay slowly started to consider the actual nominees less and less because this definitely wasn't a good look Keith: I still think about this elimination constantly on why the hell it even happened. Brad: Similar to Chris honestly. Louross: I mean, he deserved a black jacket over Matt definitely. This elimination confuses me because he got no last words, and then there was the useless team swap again. Giovanni: I personally don't really see what was so unjustified about it because it seemed like he kind of gave up after the whole "dickface" moment. Jim: I think the real Jim has talked about what happened on why he got sent home. Still a pretty confusing one. Siobhan: Consider she had been nominated I believe 3 times in a row at that point, vs Fran's 5th overall, I constantly flip back and forth who deserved to go home more, but I don't really think it was that unfair as it was pretty obvious whoever survived was gonna be next. Vinny: If you watch the entire season, Vinny pisses off Ramsay NUMEROUS times, so I feel like him going home before the black jackets was understandable. Not entirely justified, but understandable. Jamie: The look on the blue team members says it all. HOW. Brian: Yeah I was annoyed that he didn't get a black jacket, but he definitely gave up during service, which is a big no-no Michael: I legit keep forgetting about this one, because it's so similar to Anthony's, and Michael was far less memorable, but yeah, Zach should've gone home at that point. Richard: Richard definitely did deserve to survive over Gabriel, but I'm kind of glad in hindsight Gabriel lasted a bit longer because he had an amazing service, followed by an ejection. Fernando: I still don't completely understand why the show wanted to keep Santos around, considering he was so forgettable, he didn't get any sort of retrospective despite getting a black jacket. Fernando wasn't memorable either, but still. Alison: I think Randy's elimination was more bs, for similar reasons to Fernando's. Josh simply didn't belong in the black jackets. Eddie: I keep forgetting about this one, but yeah, what he did worse than everyone else, I do not know. Aziza: Probably the most forgettable one here, and I don't really have much to say because I've watched Season 16 a grand total of 3 times, and I can't STAND it. Nick: I'm still extremely pissed about this one. He's literally one of my favorite contestants of all time. Kanae: It's a prime example of the major flaw of the black jacket challenges. Plus, she had 3 pretty solid dishes, and yet she went home. Adam: NGL, getting my rage back of people going home when they shouldn't or people not going home when they should made me realize how much I missed the show when Season 19 came out. Steve: I mean, Steve had shown that he wasn't exactly the most talkative, but I think he should've at least gotten a chance at the past over Brynn, who clearly wasn't emotionally mature enough to run a brigade yet. Mindy: I was just baffled by this. The entire time, I was like "this is when Ileana goes home." aaaaand NOPE. Donya: In hindsight, this elimination made a bit more sense with the whole "everyone except Jason got a black jacket" moment, but I was beyond infuriated that Jason survived because the entire episode made it look like he was a goner with the just dreadful charity night service.

Charlie's (RIP) elimination sometimes is considered a robbery because Seth was a donkey, but Charlie was way worse that episode. He even was a bad waiter. Charlie - ELIMINATED - 13 mistakes, 11 service mistakes (too few scallops, not done well enough, risotto took too long, no ham, undercooked, mascarponi, crème, lack of seasoning, said he didn't know how to make risotto, pasta without lobster in the pass Seth - 7 mistakes, 4 service mistakes (didn't know how to open the shell, left half of the scallop, left chef Ramsay worried because he knew so much about his own life, hesitated to answer the chef, pasta without lobster in the pass)

Dana shouldve been at least an honourable mention in the all stars season(17), I get that Nicks was far more unfair but it was Danas first actual bad dinner service and first time up for elimination in 2 seasons. Gordon Ramsey even says that at the end of the episode. She screwed up meats screwing her team over but handled the situation well and somehow Elise made it farther then her.

There are some picks that I don't agree and also could be addition; Season 6: Van getting eliminated over Suzanne because Suzanne constanly making mistakes, being too cocky, arrogant and snubs and yeah, Van despite his hype personality can be a douche too sometimes, remember when he argued with JP? Season 9: Besides Jamie and Jennifer who lost to Elise, Elizabeth also getting screwed up on Black Jacket round as she missed her chance to get Black Jacket over Elise. But then again, she screwed on the reunion challenge for always being on Lalaland and she took the word "dumb blonde" to whole other level. And Elise is good for TV Season 10: Yeah, Brian not getting Black Jacket over Robyn is fair enough but don't forget that Patrick got eliminated over Tiffany, Robyn, and Royce. Robyn and Royce definetly would go back in line but if I was Ramsay, I would definetly eliminated Tiffany as she was not caring to make pizza as she hated kids, argued with Barbie in front of Ramsay on dinner service and has the worst pathetic plea ever, "Like a 9...." Patrick deserved another chance. Season 12: Besides Richard, Ralph also getting screwed up by Gabriel when Gabriel threw him under the bus to nominate him. Ralph has more potential than Gabriel. Season 16: Koop, Wendy and Devin could stay over Paulie if Paulie didn't snitch to Ramsay over Koop breaking a chair, Wendy and Devin also didn't make mistakes but whatever, Paulie needed to be the last douchebag of Season 16 to stay. I prefer Andrew to get Black Jacket over Paulie to see if his relationship with Heather effect him on Black Jacket round. Season 20: Morgana over Payton. Payton is absolutely terrible cook from Blue Team and also a terrible cook on Red Team. Morgana is a dominant chef but too bad her voice is not loud enough.

Season 12 Ralph was hiding throughout the season, made Demarco a scapegoat for his mistakes during breakfast service, took no responsibility on family night and completely crash and burned in fish n chips and tried to evade responsibility again. I think what saved Elise that night was that Elise somehow WAS THE BEST PERFORMING RED TEAM MEMBER during charity night, because she actually had one perfect course, when every other course during the entire service for the red team had at least one issue, and Elizabeth easily had the worst performance that night, and her leadership was just horrific in general. Would I eliminate Elizabeth over Elise? Fuck no, but there's actually some explanation here.

@@margarethmichelina5146 To be fair Suzanne survived because her downfall wasn’t extremely hard compared to Van’s downward spiral. Suzanne at least had an okay service at the final 7, plus she was on the blue team. Van struggled previously at the final 7 on the fish station and comes the first black jacket service, he struggles on fish again. Suzanne wasn’t any better that service either but her previous service was okay and because her downward spiral wasn’t extremely atrocious compared to Van. Even though the team wanted Suzanne and Ariel up on the block, take into consideration that Ramsay isn’t exactly stupid and fair enough all 3 of them did deserve to be on the block.

Honestly, I think something that makes a lot of fans view Nick's elimination even more negatively than some, is not only that it was really only done to ensure Michelle would 100% win the season, but because of the whole rumour surrounding it: Basically, Nick being an openly gay contestant led to many people believing his elimination was purposely done, because Mark Frissora was homophobic, and therefore did not want a member of the LGTBQ community being a head chef.
@acopella431
@acopella431 23 дня назад
I think what's interesting about these is that with the exception of exactly Nick in all stars, none of these contestants really stood out as potential winners. I've always theorized that Gordon usually has a good idea of who his final 2-3 chefs are gonna be pretty early on, so at that point who gets kept longer outside of those matters less and at that point he and the producers just keep the people who will help get better views.

Watching the raw service cuts from Season 2 services, I really changed my opinion on the unfairness of Virginia over Keith. Yes, Virginia was crap - but Keith really wasn't all that great (Heather was so head-and-shoulders above everyone that season, it was completely obvious by episode 2 who would win). He had a terrible attitude all season and more mistakes than the broadcast edit showed. He was a competent line cook (which is a step up from Virginia, of course) when he cared and was focused, which wasn't really all that often. And the broadcast version of his elimination episode shows him being bad running the kitchen, but it really sells short how abysmal he was - Virginia was nothing special on that and she was clearly better than him. All told it was a shocking elimination from the broadcast, but from the raw, it's totally defensible. Especially since Heather was clearly going to crush either of them anyway. All that to say, we only see a small portion of what happens during the service. There is so much that gets cut from two kitchens running for 3-ish hours each to fit into a 15-20 minute segment. Some of these unfair ones would probably be entirely justifiable if we could see a more full cut.

1. The fact that Gabriel was ejected right before the black jackets should tell you something about Flynn’s pick for season 12. 2. Vinny’s elimination is definitely one of the most debatable of all time. I mean, yeah he was on the decline, but Gail got kicked out of the kitchen. But then again, if you think about it, Vinny’s elimination may have been karma for what he did throughout the season. So I could see either one of them going home. 3. It's still disappointing to me that Donya had to suffer such a blow getting booted over Jason, considering one of them had been more consistent than the other throughout S22 up until charity night, where it is totally crucial to show those leadership skills and put them into action. I mean, Jason was obviously kept around longer just for being a villainous personality, still, reality TV at its grandest. Even Adam's elimination in S19 still blows my mind. One would think it would've been enough for him to bounce back from his station, he'd still be around for at least another couple episodes. Alas, considering Marc himself didn't fare much better by any means during that same service and he was also up for elimination, man oh man, that was a pretty low blow if ever I saw one. At last, Vinny in S8, I believed had a better shot as a Black Jacket, compared to Gail, who herself has already become woefully inconsistent before that point. I mean, in fairness, there was weak talent all around between the cast. But, some part of me thought that the whole incident in the second episode with Raj was his undoing. Just a suspicion. Anyway, that episode when the Black Jackets were handed out, at least Vinny finished up service with the Blue Team beforehand. Still, awesome video!

The fact that Robert didn't hesitate or meander to say he'd take [Wil's]/Sarah's spot for nomination spoke volumes of how the group had more confidence in her over Seth.
