Thanks for the video. I was looking for installation videos. I have an Intel W7-2495X, ASUS W790 ACE, 512GB, RTX-3090 system arriving this month. The CPU installation looks like a pain but it is nice to see it in action. I will be using some nice cloth gloves so that I don't get oil prints onto the cpu.

I believe, the bag with the lettering 64L means 64 lanes. This bag contains the bracket for the w-2400 processors. And the bag with 112L contains the bracket for the w-3400 processors with 112 lanes.

What? No, you almost had it. You clip it to the heatsink first, it doesn't fall out. Once you do one thermal cycle it's suctioned tight and won't fall off. That's what the metal TIM breaker lever is for. Does Enermax not tell you how much torque to screw the heatsink down to? Glad you mentioned using Star pattern. Anyway... Much better application than Linus lol

Great video but too bad Asus quality control is so bad it's not worth using an Asus motherboard. Will wait until an MSI motherboard comes out as Gigabyte is bad quality, as well. Will apply this instruction to a better motherboard.
@jackhandy0001
@jackhandy0001 Год назад
Forgot to mention that Asus will actually not respond to warranty claims altogether and then poorly if you are lucky. Gigabyte will disqualify your claim if there is so much as a smudge on your motherboard. Avoid these brands at all costs. I'm using Asrock and MSI at the moment. No I don't work for MSI. I keep getting shafted by ASUS and Gigabyte and will no longer buy their product of any kind. Video cards etc. I have a long list of their tomfoolery.

FYI that cooler is garbage. I had 2 of them for Threadripper and they both stopped flowing due to corrosion, which is a well documented problem at this point. I feel like the only reason these still exist is because they've been sitting around unsold in the warehouse and they saw Sapphire Rapids as an opportunity to dump the remaining units onto the market. I will never buy another AIO from Enermax again.

@nadtz

If you can hold off a bit Threadripper 7000 is coming later this year which might either bring down Xeon W price or blow Xeon W out of the water for similar cost if current Epyc vs Sapphire Rapids is anything to go by. Used Epyc might also be an option.

The whole point is to install it to the heatsink first. Then lowering the whole block down the guide pins in the corners prevents the CPU from slipping out of your fingers, crashing into the socket. It's heavier, but easier to control.

Well, nice video, but why to heck 17 and a half minutes just for installing cpu on the motherboard? This cpu won't be bought by any one who don't have a ny clue of what this beast represents. It won't be bought by anyone who is complete beginner. So why this 17 minutes step-by-step video with an emphasis on things that only total beginners don't know? This kind of video tutorial is for kids who never touched motheboard and/or cpu.
@nadtz
@nadtz Год назад
Because like threadripper when it first came out a lot of people have no idea how these get installed. There are some people out there who might be interested in building one who without a video like this would have no idea what they were getting into having never worked with xeon w/TR or the like before. And you know, content is content.
@Aleksandar.D
@Aleksandar.D Год назад
@badtz maru those who don't know how to assemble this one are those who don't need it. This is not a toy like a "regular" threadripper or Intel's I series. This is serious stuff. You could see on the screenshot for whom this processor is made - oil companies, research centres etc. They for sure don't assemble their data centres based on youtube tutorials. I'm not saying this video isn't interesting, but for sure 17 minutes for this thing is way too long. "Be sure to remove fingertips..." For God's sake! This guy sometimes gets too carried away in his statements when it comes to things like this, where machines are not assembled in home and semi-professional conditions, but rather investments of more than tens of thousands of dollars are involved. RU-vid advice is not listened to for such serious matters
@nadtz
@nadtz Год назад
@@Aleksandar.D serious stuff'? It's PC hardware. More expensive PC hardware but still PC hardware. In a few years this will sell second hand for a fraction of what it sells for now. Deep breath, it's just silicon.
@Aleksandar.D
@Aleksandar.D Год назад
@badtz maru this video is not made in a few years, it's made now, when this single piece of silicone costs more than someone's car. In a few years, when oil companies start to sell their old data centres, this step-by-step tutorial may find its purpose. Today is useless
@Aleksandar.D
@Aleksandar.D Год назад
@@nadtz on RU-vid you can find many detailed instructions on how to make a log cabin, but I have not yet seen that someone is so presumptuous as to make a video with detailed instructions for making a skyscraper. Skyscraper is still a house. Expensive, but still a house. Right?
