I’ve been using this for a long time and once your good at timing it literally feels like velocity it’s op and underrated

bedrock uses the same thing basically, we have it as a core pvp thing, almost everyone has to use it in order to beat any good player, (and even they use it.) We also call it Jump Reduce.

fun fact: this method has been used in the mlgrush community for years to take less knockback, and rush players actually call it 'jump reducing'

I had no idea jump resetting also worked on java as a bedrock player I thought it only worked on bedrock

This is a technique thats been used on bedrock for a long time, ik some very consistent jump cancelers who can literally take 0 kb, its overpowered. Nice to see this being used in the Java community as well :)

there's actually an easier method to do this, instead of timing your jump, you hold down spacebar as you're falling. This (nearly) always guarantees a jump reset :D
