Brother Rusty, yet another practical video. Practicing on my 6 string bass at the moment and these chords are easy enough to use. Thanks and God bless!!!
Rusty, I've always noticed the Book in the background, but I didn't know you had such a channel. This video popped up as "Recommended." I prefer the organ or piano for hymns (and I wish I could play), but I'll be checking out your tips on this channel, as well. Thank you for taking the time to put your videos together.
Thanks so much, Michael! Many people prefer more traditional music in church. and I still like the traditional sound also. But modern church music has moved into using the guitar a lot more! I appreciate the support. Blessings my brother 🙏
Rusty, while I wait on a new lesson from you I occasionally go back and just trying to nail the first 6 notes of the Dave Gilmour solo from the song “Another Brick in the Wall.” I have about 6-8 tutorials saved. Last night I decided to go play the original to get my reference back. Rusty, I was sobbing by the third measure. When you offer up the best of whatever gift you’ve been given, that’s prayer. I do not even play Coltrane any more. Along with so many others.
Thanks Cathy! I love me some David Gilmour guitar 🎸 When someone plays their instrument from the heart ❤️ It really does move us! Good to hear from you!🙏
Thank you Rusty. I used to play guitar at Church, but it was only by necessity. I only played cowboy and barre chords. We had limited "musicans" - there were no drums or bass and I also had to operate the mixing desk. We are now at a Church where I no longer need to play, which is good news for those in the Congregation 😅. That said, thanks to your channels, I'm learning things I've never previously understood. Regards - Rod
You’re welcome! I bet you still had fun playing at church. A lot of modern worship music is guitar centered! That’s exciting! For me, I’m only on the worship team a few times a month. It’s important to go to church with your family. Thanks so much for your comments! Talk to you soon buddy 🙏
@@TheWorshipGuitarChannel2 Yes, playing guitar at church was great & very memorable on that first strum! The choir director said: "No Chet Atkins in the sanctuary" LOL 😂
This lesson is showing a subject that's often overlooked! Power chords in church! Who'd-a-thunk-it! As always, focusing on notes from the chord shapes is where greatness begins! Thanks, Rusty!
These are simple and fun techniques! That we can use in any style of music! It’s always good to hear from you! Thanks for leaving the comment. Talk to you soon.🙏
Just stumbled across your channel. Really loving it. I noticed an old 70’s Les Paul and beat up strat on the rack. Love vintage guitars. Maybe you can give us a guitar rundown sometime. Look forward to your vids and thank you!
Hey Tyler, i’m glad you found the channel! I definitely will do a rig run down soon. I appreciate your comment here. Thanks for checking out my videos.🙏
Thx Rusty. Much appreciated. I wish you much continued success with your journey to assist others . Great tutorial. Keep,up the great job and stay healthy.❤
Hey Rusty good stuff.the A cord youre showing how u slide your pinky over to the. 9th fret on the b string is great.plus after doing it i added this cord not sure what it would be called but u bar the 7th fret from A to high E and pinky on the 10th high E.
Thanks for checking out the video Eddie! I believe it turns the chord into a major7th. It gives the cord some movement with a great sound. Talk to you soon.🙏
@@TheWorshipGuitarChannel2 my name is actually Ron, eddie is actually EVH eddie van halen. Lol i just named my Channel eddiieisgreat5150 cause hes one of my favorites.
I am thinking your tips are sus2 sus4 and major scale only and delay and reverbs. That’s what I did 😂 I was listen to Nigel first videos on RU-vid and also U2. That’s all we had in like 2008. The .8th delay pedals were not common so it was like a crazy mystery to achieve it. Add9 was big too.
@@TheWorshipGuitarChannel2 yes I loved your tips! So useful. I basically had the same story of coming from blues or rock. I was shocked how less is more in worship.
Yes! I will definitely be showing live footage of these techniques and how I use my amps and pedalboard also. Thanks so much for checking out the video and for all your support! Talk to you soon.🙏
Hey Lawrence, it sure is a genre. These are just common inversions that guitar players use in modern worship guitar playing in church. Thanks for checking out the video! Catch you later.🙏
I have the Strymon big sky. I can’t say enough good things about that pedal. For ambient sounds it’s the best. But there is a lot of options out there! You just gave some good reverb and delay and you’re set. Thanks for checking out the video! Have a great week.🙏
These chord shapes work in any style of music! Because there is no 3rd, they are very versatile! Most of the time there is acoustic guitar and keyboard covering the other chord tones. For me, this type of chord shape, makes it easy to sound percussive as I move around the fretboard. Thanks Joe for checking out the video! Hope to talk to you soon.🙏
A Full Power Chord is too thick for a worship setting and steps on the vocals. These voicings allow the guitarist to play inversions which punch through the mix with a clear tone. In this style of music you may go from a hush to a shout and these voicings types can be lightly picked or chunked hard, they just work. Great video!
I’m sorry that I just blurted that out. It’s the delay time. Most common are 1/8,1/4 and dotted 1/8 note increments. So when you play Notes like I did in the video, they create a rhythmic delay behind you. Thanks so much for checking out the video Ned👍
Rusty, when giving a lesson, please turn off effects and set it to clean. We are trying to follow what you’re doing and it only serves to interfere. Thanks! 😊
There are no 'gods' or 'saviours'. These are human constructs that we, primitive humans, used to explain natural phenomena we were to unsophisticated to understand. Poor harvest? Chuck a goat on the sacrificial slab to appease an angry 'god'. Good harvest? That sacrifice clearly worked. Pass me another goat!
