I'll show you one of the most valuable lessons I learned from les paul along with a lick that inspired Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Cliff Gallup and Danny Gatton.

Very cool lesson! The history behind the lick was equally as interesting as learning it! Thanks for all you do!

Awesome lesson! So what you’re saying is I need to buy a new guitar to put in a tuned up tuning. Seriously, great advice. After watching the Beatles “get back” video I think we put a little too much weight on how much gear we need if we want to sound original.

Great video, as I said, but also, the explanation that you gave was wonderful and correct. You even taught me some things too. Les was always eventing new ideas on how to do something on guitar differently. He always said to me you don't have to have the best equipment to record because there is always another way to do it if you think it through.

Great info as usual Jason, Very few guitar players would not know this, so thanks for another great lesson about the Great one himself Mr. Les Paul.

This is, in my humble little opinion, perhaps the most perfectly crafted song in the history of electric guitars. Every lick is different, unique , and memorable. Les and Mary recorded their hit version in 1951 and his recorded guitar sound was phenomenal. By contrast, my other guitar hero Chet Atkins, didn't begin to get a good full, pristine recorded sound until the early 60's !!

It's a great one. I love the sound of the 50s records by Chet. All the recordings on the gibson and D'Angelico are killer

Great video. I have seen your Les Paul "Sound On Sound" video on TrueFire. I wrote them an email and said I thought it was totally outstanding and deserved an award for Best Guitar Education Video Of The Year. If anyone hasn't seen this, it's an essential prerequisite for learning the solo. It's the best Les Paul historical analysis I've ever seen.

Man that is really flattering to hear. I put a lot of work into that course. I don't think it's a prerequisite for learning the solo but it is one of the few places you can get the history of Les Paul's creative process. Check out my new teaching site when you get a chance. www.theinspiredguitarist.com/p/products

Great stuff man, can you do a lesson on Les's lick on the 80s Coors commercial?

I made my own version of Norwegian Wood by learning it by ear and not knowing that the Beatles used a capo on the second fret.
