You and Pam keep going and you will find great items as you go. About 10 years ago, i found a large glass vase in a little shop for 6.00. I purchased it because it had 2 names etched on the bottom that i knew was Italian. When i got home, i did some research, found out the names were Murano Vernini and listed it as auction. I had a guy email me and ask me to sell it for 1000.00. I said no it was going to go to the 7 day auction. then he told me that he deals in Italian glass from 1930s to 1965s. It was not in any of his books, meaning it was one of a kind. He said i was going to make good money on it and to keep it on. Besides a man calling me from Italy twice and an email from Sweden for 2600.00. I ended up selling this vase for 5500.00 to a gallery in New York. So you and Pam can get there. Love you guys.

@@shawnblevins2138 I used to have a picture on my old pc. But didnt copy the pictures when i got my new pc. The vase looked like a big funnel. the top part was clear glass with some designs going down. the bottom was green and looked like a bunch of round green balls all put together in a circlefor the base. It was ugly for sure. I never would have purchased it, but i had a feeling about the etched names on the bottom.

@@shawnblevins2138 Thanks Shawn, i have been doing eBay for quite a few years now. Sell a lot of things for 24.95, but i have sold for lots more every once in awhile. And sometimes cheaper. I try not to pay for shipping unless it is very light and small. Went to an auction year ago, won a flat of lighters. In the box with the lighters was a police badge. Researched and found out it was an antique badge from a constable in Connecticut. It was before they had Policemen. Sold it for over 400. Every once in awhile i hit on something really good. :)

One of the very first things my husband and I bought for eBay resale was a Boehm bird figure. We got it at a local auction for $5 plus a 50 cent premium and sold it for $580 dollars. I guess no one else at the auction knew what it was either. That was 12 years ago and I haven't come across another out in the wild. What a thrill for you guys!

The bird sells for around $300 in pristine shape, but even the slightest damage really decreases the value. It's still an amazing find and should fuel your drive to continue the search for hidden treasures. It really is amazing what you can find in thrift stores, garage sales and live in person auctions. The search and thrill is addicting. My husband and I had a second hand and antique store and loved every minute of it and only gave it up when my health got to the point we couldn't get out and do the purchasing. (which is the most thrilling part, after all). We are really enjoying your videos and watching the interaction between the two of you - you remind us so much of ourselves when we were younger. Peace and God Bless!

Get a box that's got 3" of space on all sides of the sculpture. Pack some void fill in between the branches and the cavity areas of the sculpture. Put a layer of packing peanuts in the bottom of the box. Then place the sculpture in the box. Fill in around the sculpture with peanuts. I would use a double wide box for extra rigidity. That will keep 'er safe.

I would like the UPS shipping store pack it for you. They know how to do it. If you do it yourself, I would wrap each branch in small pieces of bubble. Then double box it. Put the well packed box in a larger box with styrofoam peanuts Just my suggestion. That’s how I did it. Never had a broken fragile doing the double box method. Great find! Yay for you guys

I know that you follow Lonnie, so if you watch the video where he is shipping the porcelain disney collectible internationally and they asked him to make sure it was very well packed, you will notice that it was already extremely well packed from the manufacturer. They used what is called "egg crate" foam. I would highly suggest buying some of that and packing similarly. Good luck💖👩‍🌾

I sell stuff on-line to, When you get ready to ship that expensive bird figurine you need to pack it in foam, surrounding all parts including the branches. It must be packed so it doesn't move in the box. You can use bubble wrap, but foam is highly recommended. Get a double walled box too.. Write fragile handle with care all over the box. If you haven't sold it already.. Take care!

If you're going to ship it yourself line a box about double it's size with 2 layers of bubble wrap then place it in the box and fill the gaps with packing peanuts or popped corn. Fold the bubble wrap over the top to make sure there is no chance of it moving and seal the box. For extra insurance you could then wrap the box in bubble wrap and place it in a second box and make sure this one is a snug fit.

Boehm pronounced "BEAM". Was originally made here in Trenton, Nj the old factory is still here closed down. I do believe someone just bought it though. Unfortunately the market for Boehm is just like Hummels and Lenox - pretty much non existent. Also with the damage don t think you will get much more than $40-50.

You have no idea how happy I am that you have to ship it and not me. I had to ship a Capodimonte centerpiece once...and I mean something that fragile once. It already had some damage just like the piece you have because all you have to do is look at it and something falls off. I told her to get rid of it at our next garage sale or throw it in the trash and she sold it on ebay anyway. Despite my best packing efforts over 2 days of trying to immobilize it, the damn thing still showed up with a little additional damage at the other end and we wound up losing money on the deal because we had to compensate the buyer heavily. The girlfriend that bought it and insisted it was a bargain when she got it blamed me for the shipping damage and I blamed her for buying something that fragile expecting anybody could ship it safely. It wasn't our only disagreement, but she sure brought that up every time we argued. To let you know how that story ended...I probably hadn't even thought about her for at least 10 years...meaning that was 15 years ago when it actually happened. Flip that kind of stuff local or ship at your own peril.

Bubblewrap the individual branches. Put it in a box with packing peanuts, then into a bigger box with foam surrounding the first box, then probably a third box and void fill with packing peanuts. Definitely worth your time to spend an hour or so and splurge on the packing materials. Protect your profit!

Yes, shipping delicate porcelain and glass items are very difficult. On August 4 I sold a Lalique France Large Champs Elysees Leaf Form Centrepiece Glass Bowl for 610.00 plus shipping. Look up the comps for that one! Mine had a chip on one of the leaves. Just take your time and gently wrap strips of padding around the branches, bird wings, etc. Keep adding strips of padding until the piece is covered well. Then bubble wrap very thickly. Then place in a box, fill the voids, then place in a larger box with padding all around the inner box.
@donaldengle7114
@donaldengle7114 5 лет назад
Here's my idea of shipping. Get a box that is a little bigger than the item. Surround the whole inner box with styrofoam, then -- - here is the brilliant, but expensive part -- fill all the gaps within sand. You can get a 5 or 10 lb. Bag for cheap at a Lowe's etc.. of course shipping cost will be high. LMK. DON

MF Some resellers just aren’t interested in glassware because one tiny chips or a small crack that you miss (not to mention knock offs and fakes which are out there) and you’ve not only have no profit, but maybe even a return and loss. Good profit when you’re right, a huge pain when you’re wrong. Some folks just don’t think it’s worth it., different strokes for different folks. I respect the fact they’re not ready to deal with the extra work and hassle of glassware yet.

At Ryan, " how is it rated "GOOD" or " PERFECT", if a TWIG and the BEE is chipped, I think that seriously knocks down the price dramatically, I only suggest to do a more decisive damaged collectible check before listing it and then have a customer purchase it and they are not happy with the product when delivered, EBAY and Amazon are very CUSTOMER friendly services and not very SELLER FRIENDLY at all.

I hate giving bad news but on items like this flaws hurt resale value, while damage especially in multiple places almost kills the resale. On collectibles condition is everything, on items you use like a blender or bike its not as important. I am thinking maybe you get about what you paid maybe a little more if someone just really likes birds and can't afford this piece if it was not flawed.

Ah the bane of resellers everywhere, shipping. Anything can, and does, happen to even the best packed items. Double boxing and plenty of bubble wrap is usual and obvious. For those fragile items that can justify the cost, I try to use a heavier plastic container for the interior box. For example I came across what looks like some empty used bowling ball cases that I cleaned up that fit my items well with all the packing material. Delicate pieces in the past I have used tiny foam beads loosely in very thin fabric pouches that can mold to the item surrounded by packing peanuts. I have formed more unmovable molds for solid pieces using spray insulation foam into bags as a rare choice. At my post office, it has been told to me to use labels with GLASS, fragile on them instead the red FRAGILE ones I was using
