I have the Nikon Z 24-70mm 2.8 S, but just added the Z 24-120 F4 S to my kit. over the next few weddings, I plan to switch it for the 24-70 on my main camera, and see how it goes. My B camera is always the telephoto side, with either a 70-200 or 85mm.
Hi, i have Nikon Zfc and bought a Nikon 24-70 f2.8 few days ago. Still waiting to take it. Do you think Zfc anf this lens will work together well? Before I undecided to buy Z body or z lens and thought lens will be better cause I have z body. What do you think?
The 24-70 2.8 is going to be a little too large on ZFc. I just did first impressions about the Zf camera (big brother of ZFc), watch the video and I talked a bit about the lenses and ergonomics. With 24-70 2.8 it will like be front heavy, in my opinion.
Looks like an excellent lens. While I know it's not an "S" lens, what do you think about the Nikon Nikkor z 28-75mm lens? It's similar and lower cost. Any chance you could review that lens and compare it to the 24-70. Love your videos. Thank you.
I am a canon user and I use Sigma 24-70mm in my wedding photography.I like to used this prime lens becoz of the Af 2.8.But first time my challenge of this lens if you shoots in group and you forget to change the AF 2.8 to highier AF it will blured some of your subject. But now more than how many years I used this lens I already knew how to used it. I like this lens its amazing especially in wedding and portrait. 😊😊😊 🇵🇭 🇵🇭 🇵🇭
I prefer to shoot weddings with prime lenses. I normally use a 35mm f/1.4 on one body and an 85mm f/1.4 on a second body. As a backup, I have a 28-70mm f/2.8 zoom on a third body.
Hi Vialij! Great lens info for beginning wedding photographers! Nothing's better than the 24-70 focal range for weddings. Great for prep, the dance floor, and group portraits! Primes are great when you have the time to compose the shot, but we can't walk as fast as lenses zoom. Weddings are a series of important and unrepeatable moments. A zoom lens will get you the desired composition much faster. Great video!
Hi. Great video and well explained. I use this particular one you have. It's a great choice for covering a wedding or any type of event. I have only one major issue : @24 mm I find the distortion to be really bad , no matter how I set the camera. I tried to solve this problem in Lightroom with reasonable results but I hate to solve this problem on every single image I take @24 mm. How do you deal yourself with this particular issue? Thanks
Great question Dan. I haven’t noticed any particular strong distortion in my images. However, I don’t have a 24 mm prime to compare it to and say with confidence if the distortion is excessive or not. Something for me compare when I get a hold of the 24 mm prime.
Absoslutely agree Dave. I’m not a real state photographer, but the 16mm makes perfect sense. 24mm probably will serve a variety of real estate shots but wider is preferred.
The F1.8 Is great but whan you shots Group shot more than 2 people I need to step down to 2.8 … Ii will save money for the 24-70 in the next few months…
want to buy at least 3 lenses and that's it i really want a lens that i can keep on there to take all the shots i need instead of having to switch lenses to catch the shot i want
I shoot Sony, their latest 24-70 GMII is a great lens, however, for those cases where 2.8 may be limited , I use their GM 1.4 (24 and 35), that covers any possible situation , in rare cases, I may need to add the 70-200 , 70% can be done with the 24-70
I just released a video today (Why I use Nikon Z9 for weddings) and I coved that exact point that I used the 24-70 2.8 for about 70% of my time shooting a wedding. It’s almost like you read my mind. 🧘
Great video. Love the f 2.8 24-70 lens. There are a variety of situations, particularly in the evenings, where a 24-70 f4 does not provide enough light to capture motion without using a flash or an unacceptably high ISO. As you noted, the 24-70 f2.8 is a great value once you factor in the number of situations where it can replace primes. I feel like you need primes and zooms, but there is no denying the flexibility of a zoom in that range. I am also excited for the arrival of the 28-75 f2.8. Though not likely to be a great a lens as the S Line f2.8 24-70, it is still likely to be excellent like all the other Z lenses. This will really make a difference for people who cannot afford the $2300 lens. I hope the 24-70 focal length is eventually replaced with a 24-120 f2.8. I realize that might be crazy sounding, but the arrival of the 24-120 f4 Z lens makes me hope it is possible. That a f2.8 S Line 24-120 of the quality of the current lens would be a game changer. I am glad you pointed out all the situations where people have to shoot as higher f stops in order to get appropriate depth of field. This reigns in some of the unrealistic expectations for very fast primes (f1.4 and 1.2). The Z f1.8 primes are excellent performers and are very affordable. The f1.2 S line lenses are definitely worth their money for those who need them, but many will do well on true Z 1.8 primes and the 2.8 zooms.
К сожалению нельзя сделать объектив 24-120 с диафрагмой f2.8, чтобы он был легким, негабаритным и дешевым. Там очень много законов физики света, это почти нереально.
I decided not get the 24-70 2.8 for my Z9, I have two Z9 bodies and decided to use the 50mm 1.2 s lens on one body and the 70-200 2.8s on the second body, I have to agree sometimes the 50mm is to tight but I am going to try. I also use the Tamron 35mm SP 1.4 Di USD with the FTZ2 adapter along with the 105 1.4 with the FTZ so far all working well. Thanks for your flash settings tip which. I use with my Profoto A1X
I love the versatility of 24-70 2.8. If you are doing any landscape or need wide angles glass, consider getting a f mount version of tamron or sigma 24-70 with an FTZ adapter. It is cheaper and for the most part do the same things. You have a great line up of lenses + two Z9s!!!
@@TouchLifeStudio Thank you for your lens recommendations, I have been lucky to have had every Nikon "professional camera since the D2x and it was for me a massive direction change to move to mirrorless, I still miss my D5/D6 cameras but I decided to move to the Z9 and its lenses because of the clear benefits of the S lens line up. Yes I feel very lucky to have two Z9 cameras.
still alot of switches of lenses,. so if your going to shoot regular birthday party,. you need to bring your 50mm and 35mm and 70-200?? nothing beat 24-70 2.8,. also blurring background doesn't means your great photographer,. 24mm 2.8 wide shots at the wedding is much better if you know how to handle your compositions,.
i like F 1.8 but i hate changing lenses all the time, and dust gets in easily, but i also hate heavy lenses and i'm a little worried about F 2.8 in low light. really hard choice for me😂😂😂
Too bad that the standard really isn't the standard though... 24-70 would have it all if it was a 24-85, because 35, 50 and 85 are the three most used focal lengths across all fields of photography. I have always wondered why no manufacturer, in the entire history of film and digital photography, has ever made a 35-85mm lens. A 35-85mm lens would be easier to make than 24-70mm and it would be much, much more useful for 99% of photographers. A 35-85mm lens could also be made at f1.4 with it being smaller than your regular 24-70mm f2.8! This is why it baffles me that nobody, to this day, has ever even tried to manufacture a 35-85mm lens! I really, really want to see that lens be made by Canon, Nikon, Sony, Sigma or Tamron! That would be the most useful lens ever made!
Thanks for sharing ideas. I like where you are heading with it. Manufacturers heading in that direction, slowly, with a 28-75 f2.8 (tamron and Nikon). Great ideas.
