I think a lot of people are getting the wrong impression - this pedal doesn't make any of these noises or effects. It's just an Audio Interface in a pedal-shape. It's like a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or a Universal Audio Apollo, but shaped like a pedal for ease of travel. That's it - you can't download sounds into it. You plug your guitar, or bass or mic into it, and USB it to your computer, or tablet/IPAD, etc.
@teknical100
@teknical100 6 лет назад
Thanks for that. I did think the sound was going to be 'loaded' into the box. Then I thought hang on you would need a lot of boxes for each sound. A lot of pedals seem to be programmable so maybe in the future . . .

i also really hoped for this. but yeah, that would be really hard to create and would probably need multiple samplings and might not be feasible for all kinds of sounds. I was pretty disappointed when i found out its just an audio interface sold as a special guitar pedal. This is nothing new really.
@shadowgolem9158

FWIW the 2i2 is same price, the Apollo is a lot more. Both are bigger and neither can be foot triggered without an add on footswitch (more $). For a small reasonably $ pedalboard friendly unit this lets you bust a usually studio only sound out on stage without needing an extra set of hands. That is new and pretty cool. Not sure what the delay is like but if reasonable it's a cool bit of peddal board kit. Not a new concept no but a very thoughtfuln portable and cost effective implementation of a useful tool. FWIW TC Elec. has the Nova system if you want a programable peddal.

The fact that it is just a pedal and you can make it as versatile as you want is amazing. I had an idea for a pedal like this year's ago to bad I didn't go for it. Keep rocking 😊

what that needs is a sister pedal with five foot switches that allows you to switch between preset pedal settings.

+chris_0611 I have a Korg Nanopad (semi-)permanently attached to my keyboard, both of which (and an EWI USB) go through a USB hub so all I have to connect to any computer is one USB extension. I'd probably just use that as my switching and control interface, since I never use it for live drums. So yeah, you basically just need a MIDI pedal controller. It could even be in an organ-style keyboard shape so it can double as a synth controller like Geddy stomps.
@marc-olivierjohnson8569
@marc-olivierjohnson8569 6 лет назад
basically its a bass/guitar specific mini sound-interface. it has a "hi-Z" input for your bass/guitar/effect pedal output the signal goes to A to D converter then thru the USB it goes to your Computer the sound is processed thru whatever app/DAW u have the sound is sent back to the teleport's D to A converter and sent to its hi-z output so that u can plug it on a guitar amp. u can do this already with your existing sound interface and a DI box like the radial JDI but plugged in reverse plug your guitar to its Hi-Z input and on one of the out puts Connect a DI box in reverse Althought the Teleport is more convenient all-in a small- box type of thing if u want to do Live in the studio its not really an issue
@AndGuitar
@AndGuitar 6 лет назад
The Irig HD 2 does this and charges your iPad and or iPhone as well . Works great for using effects in amp fx loop with their patented amp thru switch, monitoring your input and works with Windows 7, 10 and IOS , MACOS etc. Note most Windows based interface software uses Asio4all to provide the software audio bridging all for less than $100 :) Another plus is that it comes with AmpliTube which works great as a stand alone or DAW plug in.

MIDI sensors with MIDI programs exist since the 90s. You just have here a convenient Bluetooth connection to your computer or phone. It's good to make sounds. To make music is another thing even if the time response seems pretty good tough. Who uses that on stage ?

I don't understand what's the value here or why everyone in the comments is crazy about it. You can do the same thing with any USB guitar interface. I was using Reaper + BIAS FX with my amp with great results. This is just a simplified interface that everyone already has. Changing the subject I'd like to mention however that this video was very pleasant to watch, so much better than any other guitarists or reviewers online. I'm going to leave a sub. Cheers Mary!

I think you´re missing the coolness of it being a pedal. That means that if you got a sound in your DAW that you have on your recordings, but not have on your live pedal board, this is what you´re looking for. Yes, you can run your DAW to your amp like you mentioned, but then you won´t be able to switch the tone on/off during a live gig. And no matter how awesome that wierd delay is, you don´t want that on all of the songs all the time... That´s why everyone is crazy about it.

Finally a useful device that allows you to use your computer in your fx loops of amps or run speaker sims out to pa! I kind of abandoned that method of tech for guitars. However, this is really cool. My preference is to use hardware. This is a great concept.

Hi Mary, so this looks like a good solution for single sound set from any DAW or FX software and has been done before (iRig stomp box but for Amplitube only). Your switching is the problem when you want to switch sounds as most of the programs I have see for iPad, or tablet do not include a switcher. So there has been a solution on the market for many years called the Apogee Gio which does the same thing except not only do you have switching for pedal presets, up and down, but also recording buttons. I have used with Jam Origin Midi 2 ages ago! It is $395 against this which is $137. A warning though, most DAW track configurations take time to set up and take time to switch. Enter Apple Mainstage for live set ups. MainStage also is not that easy to set up, but once you have a playlist of presets it is usable. So to me this would be good to extract a specific sound from the DAW or FX support, but pretty difficult operationally to switch on the fly live! If you dont mind FX limitied you have iRig Stomp i/o and Bias bluetooth footswitchs In the Digital world I went to Boss Katana as that has many sounds you can program and share. Good review thanks www.guitargeartips.com Robert

I love it yet I fear it. There is so much available that opens up so many possibilities it is intimidating to make the commitment that the sound you chose is the right one. But if you never chose .... And then there is the whole "can I trust my computer for live work" thing. I know lots of people do, but I feel much safer with a guitar plugged into an amp (and possibly analogue pedals). If you are using it, I would love to see a video on how you prepare for a "plan B" performance - i.e. the computer is just not working so what do we do now?
@konradlagoda3116
@konradlagoda3116 6 лет назад
Do you have plan B pedals when ur live? Computers might have a more fragile chassis, but their interior has the same susceptibility to failure as analog pedals have.
@mal2ksc
@mal2ksc 6 лет назад
I think it would be much easier to have a second computer available as "Plan B", with identical software and as similar as you care to make it as far as interface goes. This might mean taking a regular laptop as a backup for the iPad, or your last computer to back up your current one.

The key to this device is that you take the sound back out to your amplifier and easily use this on the road. So the difference is for the price of a pedal you have small home studio (with the download).....and if you use Mac you have garage band already. So no need for a expensive interface and monitor speakers.....for one pedal you save 100's of bucks, (if you want to go that route)......A great option to have!!

Also I wouldn't recommend logic as its monitoring output isn't always full quality playback if it's not a recorded sound, try something like mainstage. Also that being said don't use cab sim if you're going into an amp cause double cabbing never really sounds that great.

This is not the first time someone has done something like this, but this does look like an upgrade. IK Multimedia iRig Stomp has been out a few years and is half the price. But I've heard of quality issues with the iRig. The Orange looks to be better quality. However, they really should have gone with a clickless soft touch switch.

Such a great concept, bought one immediately. Still baffling to me that Orange was the company to come out with this first. The one thing that would have made this the literally most useful pedal ever was maybe if they'd built it to input signal into a computer\DAW could run on bus power and you just needed the 9V to run the signal back out to it's outputs. As a means to record on the go, the 9V is an unwanted tether.
@user-yl2lt8rq8w

That's a guitar players dream pedal.If you have these computer programs. I've never bothered with that technology only way back when line6 first came out. Looks like it's time to get back to it for the money it will save on " pedal experimenting" we all know how wallet draining that is only to have to resell it to try another pedal that " just didn't meet expectations" Great find great demo. Just when I thought my pedalboard was complete 😅 I know *exactly* how I’d use this: I work a lot with MIDI guitar and music apps on iDevices, and I can see myself running the Teleporter in a loop on my EHX Tri Parallel Mixer, to insert MIDI guitar stuff from my iPad or IPhone into my signal chain. (Just imagine this with MainStage on a Mac...) Thanks Mary for a great intro to a great-looking pedal 🙏
@digitalramyun
@digitalramyun 3 года назад
Update: I bought a Teleport a few days after watching this (Mary: I owe you one 🙏). In the end, I didn't put the pedal in a loop on my Tri Parallel Mixer, as the TPM is all-mono, and I wanted to use the dual outputs on the Teleport for stereo processing. Instead, I fed the TPM combined output into the Teleport, and the T's stereo outs into my delay, reverb and looper, to the dual-channel DI box. Everything after the Teleport is stereo, so I can make full use of FX and instruments on my iPad and iPhone. Thanks again Mary for introducing me to this pedal!

Umm, apart from it being smaller, how does this pedal differ from a bus-powered usb interface? I have budget gear but my EDIROL UA-4FX can connect a guitar (1/4" jack), stereo line in and out, and midi in and out simultaneously to any DAW or software plug-in, and it is lightweight and not much wider than this pedal. It also has digital/optical in and out , and an XLR input or 1/8" powered mic.
@jca6160
@jca6160 6 лет назад
An audio interface will output line levels from its analog outputs. Line levels are expected on some effects returns of some amps, but not all. You could do a preamp-in-the-box in that scenario using the effects return. Typical use case for this box is to plug into the amp's input. A line level will clobber the amp's input and there will be an impedance mismatch. It would be like having a clean boost (or two) on at all times before the amp input. Ordinarily, you would convert a line level to a guitar level using a Reamper (eg Radial JCR) when going into the amp's input. So this Teleport is like having a small audio interface and a reamper in one unit. Well, I am assuming that the Teleport is doing this "step down" as a Reamper would.
