Boombayah did badly cause Whistle was a hit and even if whistle wasnt there Boombayah wouldn't do well it's an edm song which koreans song pay attention to. Boombayah still had 800K downloads which is good but even Forever Young did better in Korea. Forever Young is even almost as popular as Aiiyl when it's only a side track. Dddd and PwF stand as BLACKPINK's most popular songs.

PWF is their most popular song in korea for now (not sure how DDDD will do in the long run , ik it's doing well , but there was this catchiness to PWF that made it stand out among the public in festivals and all ) as for youtube .. PWF did achieve better views wise in the beginning but wasn't endurent enough . BOOMBAYAH was also their most watched video so the views kept coming . AIIYL could have done so much better if it wasn't released at the same time as MMMoo's song (they had a bigger fandom so they stayed #1 while BP was right behind , AIIYL is now more popular tho in the long run). abt boombayah , yg did think it was going to do better even tho it was EDM , he probably thought it was going to have "I am the best" , "fantastic baby" kind of appreciation ,... but it just wasn't that good , didn't have a color that matched BP , seemed random to me . even when i listen to it now it seems soo different from the BP i know today .

This doesn't mean they are less popular than groups like BTS, TWICE, or BLACKPINK, though.

Growl was like national anthem in South Korea but in 2017, it penetrated in the north making it the "confession" song of younger generations in North Korea. Thanks to Norris (North Korean Eris) for taking to twitter despite govt restrictions. The views on yt means nothing as they are mostly streamed many times.
