I watched this show new, as a child. It was good, clean humor...no cussing or crass words. I always liked Eve Arden.

These old shows show how great the good comedy actors were at stuff like 'reaction shots' to somebody else's punchline. Hardly anybody on TV now even knows what that phrase means!

This show did not get the accolades it deserved. It's hilarious! I especially love the episode when the gals get locked in a Dept store and had only one dime to use for a phone call. Eve dials the wrong number. instead of getting her husband, she awakens Desi Arnaz in Barcelona. They convince him to call the States and relay their demise to the hubby. Arnaz converses with the accent he used on I love Lucy and it's truly histerical! Not sure if that's season 1 or 2. Lots of great comedic genius and timing.

We had orange carpeting. Green couch and an orange lamp. In the '60's. Gold was very popular. My mom painted one wall in the living room gold. A big gold mirror over the gold couch. She even painted the wrought iron railing gold.

It's going into my regular DVR rotation along with 'That Girl' and most of the programming on Antenna TV. Haven't seen this show since its original broadcasts in 1967 thru 1969. Always thought it was hilarious. It's good to know it still holds up. Kaye and Eve play so well off each other. It's not as dated as you would think. With it coming from Desilu like many quality programs of the time these were filmed at the Desilu Studios. This show was one of the first filmed before a live audience.

I love when Kay picks a fight with Roger (which happened in pretty much every episode). She was an Italian spitfire! In an interview with Eve Arden years ago, she stated (without actually naming him) that 'the first actor to play Roger' was extremely difficult to get along with - so they fired him.
@bkynbiker19
@bkynbiker19 3 года назад
He held out for more money for season 2, and wouldn't budge, so he was 'released', according to imdb. He was far better than Richard Deacon, I think. He might not have deserved more than the others ,but maybe they all should have gotten more for the 2nd season
@akrenwinkle
@akrenwinkle 3 года назад
@@bkynbiker19 You're right, it was about money. It was customary to give all the cast a raise for the second season of a show that was picked up. Proctor & Gamble was cheap and refused. The three other cast members even conspired to chip in to give Roger his raise, but he refused on principle. Richard Deacon was under contract to Desi Arnaz already (he had done an unsold pilot with Carol Channing) and Desi used him. Deacon was a superb comic actor playing fussbudgets but totally unsuitable to play Roger.

Question; I loved this show, but I just found out there was a pilot with Ms Arden but instead of Ms Ballard (who's one of the funniest women, RIP), it had Ms Ann Sothern, no slouch, there (gorgeous when she was young. Still had those amazing eyes). The reason Ms Sothern was not cast was it was felt her style and Ms Arden's were too similar (a laid-back, droll style). THAT I'd LOVE to see. Anyone?

This had to be one of the better episodes. As a kid I watched this program in its first reruns, I think. Daytime, mornings, probably in summer when school was out. Never forgot that theme music. Loved Kaye Ballard! Years later I must've been talking about this memory when a friend said, yeah, he knew that theme music, but the opening of the show was all he ever got to see - his mom would immediately change the channel. I recall even as a kid this show was all about the generation gap, yet their children looked even by the early '70s pretty darned staid, and the parents were more interested in the wild new world, definitely more California wild and exaggerated than my world back home.

This is proof that 47 years later, women go ballistic over the "hottest" film actress of an era (today, it's Angelina Jolie) when men speak the truth to one of their imbecilic questions, resulting in raging jealousy in the female and the male being thrown out of the house. Then, women wonder why their men feel safer "lying" about where they were, what they were doing, why didn't they answer the cell phone, nag, nag, nag...and one day, serve them with divorce papers. Sigh...Feminazism didn't do a thing to help make borderline-personality disordered women take their daily meds and adhere to their psychotherapy sessions.
