The NASCAR gaming sphere has been one of a downward spiral over the past 15-20 years at this point. The biggest of these reasons lately has been without a doubt the trainwreck of Motorsport Games. Today we look at this struggling company’s terrible past month or so and how damning their actions have been on both NASCAR ang the racing gaming sphere in general. With that I present to you the Motorsport Games trainwreck: NASCAR gaming has been destroyed.

The failure of nascar games for the past decade is directly linked to the people in suits and ties not spending the money on a developer and publisher that’s worthy of someones time. I understand studios like codemasters are expensive but there’s a reason for it.. they make good games. If you want your game to be good you have to make the investment. Nascar is simply cheap. The same thing is happening with Konami right now. They announce a Silent Hill 2 remake and they get Bloober team to make it?!
@Ricky-101

I know, look at the Tony Hawk games. For years those games sucks ass, specially THPS 5. That game was literally unplayable, and even if you could play it, the skating in it wasn't as good as it was in Tony Hawk Underground. Yet out of left field, came a remastered of the first two Tony Hawk games for 2020. Everybody was talking about how critical of a success it was and how it revived a dead culture as skateboarding. Thus everyone was wondering what was next. To bad that Blizzard had to buy Vicarious, ended further Tony Hawk titles. So it shows that anything is possible when you have the right person knowing what their doing.

Look at the last time we had 3 game creators. We had dirt to Daytona, thunder series, and nr2003. 3 of the most favorable games in NASCAR history. Honestly, it's not just NASCAR games. The sports genre as a whole peaked in 03-05 and has been on a downward trend ever since, to the point where you're just hoping that the newest version of your favorite sports game series is at least not a broken glitchy mess. I guess as a sports gamer, that's why I never truly moved on from the PS2/OG Xbox/GameCube generation. A lot of the best sports games came from that era. NASCAR Thunder 04, Madden 04, NHL 04, NBA Live 05, ESPN NFL 2K5, MVP Baseball 05, heck even SmackDown: Here Comes the Pain if you wanna add wrestling into the mix.

Fans that are willing to spend money on it. There are some big names in the sound track like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, and Imagine Dragons (as well as the songs wrote for the game). The rights to use those songs don’t come cheap and they probably ate up a good piece of the game’s budget. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spent more in the soundtrack than designing the game.

Unfortunately, I don't think that this will be the end of MS. I am kinda hoping that it would be (does that make me a bad person?) because this is just such a mess that honestly NASCAR should step in and do SOMETHING with the license. MS to me is almost like Frank Gallagher from Shameless, they will pull out some kind of greasy-ass way to kick out of all the BS at 2 and 9/10's (wrestling terminology) and continue to exist somehow some way. I also kinda hope the source codes DO get released. Again, am I a bad person? I'm almost rooting for the chaos at this point because of how bad this is. Also, because I am almost sure that there are PLENTY of talented modders and coders that will nab them up and might actually make something halfway decent. Or they may not. Who knows, but at this point I'm willing to have them try anyways. To add, I don't want EA back. Just look at how they took the F1 game that Codemasters did so amazing with, and turned it into everything else they make; A shallow, "focus on anything but the racing aspect" f**king money pit. I hate to admit that with all I complained about with the NASCAR Heat titles from 2016-2020, NASCAR Heat 5 is actually a playable, serviceable game and I'd rather play that than Ignition. Hell, I'd rather play NASCAR 06 (my most hated NASCAR game along side Evolution) than Ignition. My hopes are honestly to see NASCAR pull the license from MS and have other developers make a game. I don't want an "exclusive" license either, just make it so other developers can make something. I don't exactly wish for those people at MS to lose their jobs and have to find a way to feed their family and keep a roof over their head, but I so badly want that company to tank. With all the crap that has been going on with them, that is probably the easier way out of all this anyways. I just want to go back to a time when NASCAR games got released for consoles that not just played well, but were extremely immersive and truly drew me in to wanting to be involved with the sport that I watched every Sunday. Is that so f**king hard to ask for? The past nearly decade now has been absolutely abysmal. Add to this the Virtual Le Mans debacle. Motorsport Games won an exclusive deal with Le Mans, ending iRacing's version of the Virtual Le Mans 24, and starting their own on rFactor 2 (which they own), and due to shitty servers (Shills hide behind the DDOS excuse, but a DDOS can be defended against, as many companies do) almost everyone ended up disconnecting at some point. And notably Max Verstappen, the Formula 1 world champion quit. Saying he struggled to even call it an event, saying that it was a "Clownshow." He continued on to say that he won't ever participate again on this platform. Say what you want about his attitude, but I am glad such a massive voice is speaking against motorsport games. Because honestly all of us won't hurt a company with words. Max going viral with a valid criticism of their platform? Might at least make motorsport games look bad.

NASCAR 07 was my introduction to NASCAR console games and let me tell you, it’s terribly frustrating and sad the trajectory the sport has gone when it comes to console gaming. Jumped ship after Heat 2, returned Heat Evolution the same day I purchased it due to that game being unplayable to me. But, compared to Ignition, Heat Evolution actually was somewhat playable! Unless if NASCAR bites the bullet and goes with a reputable developer, NASCAR console gaming is dead.

I’m honestly so glad I was never interested in NASCAR games beyond, like, NASCAR 2011. I’ve since had titles like Gran Turismo, Forza, Assetto Corsa and BeamNG to satisfy my racing game itch from then on. Can’t imagine how heartbroken and depressed I’d be now if I was desperate to play something NASCAR related and the expensive iRacing was my only viable option that actually worked.

The development of better consoles, better graphics, and powerful processing power will be the downfall of video games. The days of a group of friends designing and releasing an entire game from their basement is over. It's just too expensive, and too technically demanding. Because of this, the quality of games that are anything short of Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft exclusives are going to fade into obscurity. NR2003 turned 20 last year. TWENTY. It'll be of legal age to drink come FEBRUARY. And that game is still arguably superior to anything we've gotten on console in the last 15 years. Absolutely pathetic.

If you read this Ice leave me a 🏁 So... My opinion (and I know everyone has similar thoughts ) Personally I believe that they should just release the Rights Back to Monster games, with the influence of iRacing in the World of Outlaws the Game, and Steve Myers & Dale Jr. Even "Hinted" to making or release a Modern Dirt to DAYTONA and/or Nr2003 (Nr2023) .. And with the World of outlaws game having so much success and in my league we've had zero issues since drop .. I personally would love a combination of world of Outlaws to Super Late Models (asphalt) to Acra,trucks, Xfinity, cup and I also personally would Love all oval track vehicles on iRacing (from 80s cars to current) would be great game mode for both offline and online called Retro mode to not only allow NASCAR lifelong fans old cars to have Nostalgia but also to teach young fans of each Generation of the Stock car. I agree 100% with I became a fan of NASCAR because of NASCAR '98 flirting with disaster is my childhood 🤣.. So I believe Monster and iRacing should have the License, if they don't then I pray someone takes it to heart to give the fans something to compete with PC gaming, regardless of the difference in the platforms, some of us can't afford to Buy all the luxury to do iRacing. Regardless of what others say it's still expensive for us paycheck to paycheck people. Thanks for reading Ice, Love your channel

When it comes to the paying of employees, MSG is an American publicly traded company which means under “law” right now, they can’t send or receive money from Russia. All transactions are blocked by the Government. So I don’t see what they can do about that. I don’t personally understand why anyone outside the US is actually working on NASCAR games anyway tbh.

This company will die. Because management doesn't build anything, the programmers do. And there's ALWAYS jobs for programmers. I guarantee everyone with any meaningful skills are already looking for a new job. And good luck hiring when you have a track record of not paying your employees. This is just more proof that the country club class are mostly a bunch of clowns. The company dies and the C suite will go on about their life without any consequences or changes to their lifestyle. The normal employees this will deal with this financial pain for years. Ask yourself how you'd do without 3 months of pay from your job?

Nascar should just buy out their exclusivity contract at this point. 2 years in, and the company has had several doomsday moments. Either cut their losses and find an actual good developer that's been around and is proven, or get rid of exclusivity all together and just hand put licences so we can have that 2002 like era where multiple games had to really put out good products to compete.

You know this has also been a game of horseshoes and hand grenades, on the IndyCar side when, not only have not released a game in over 20 years, but alienate a very large portion of their fanbase by cutting off iRacing almost completely. As for the NASCAR side of things, I don't know what else to say other than, people are just going to stop playing the games that have been released, until something gets done..... which is going to have to cost more than an arm and a leg in order to happen, in my personal opinion

Honestly it seems like they have a ton of ambition and nobody to lead. It sounds like they need to have scrum Masters and a load of goals to drive the development. To me it just sounds like there's nobody leading over and that's the problem. These people should be on top of their projects but they're not. I'm a scrum master in need of a job and quite frankly it may be an undertaking and they are an undisciplined bunch but it's not out of the question with decent leadership to get these products out. I don't know how many Sprint's it would take to get these products out but I would think it could be done in a relatively short amount of time. It sounds like they really need to just build one framework and just start adding DLC.

Console nascar games, including off the wall games like NASCAR rumble, are the main reason I stayed into nascar. NASCAR keeps doing a bunch of dumb shit to draw in younger fans, but literally the number one way to draw in younger fans is gaming and they're blowing it. Then you get the ass clowns that say "Just play Iracing" as if thats a realistic option for everyone due to its abhorrent pricing model (honestly its something I'd expect from someone like EA) and the complete lack of career mode which is what the majority of console players want. Give me a NASCAR with F1 games Coop career mode and I'd play that shit so much I'd probably need to replace my wheel base from wear and tear within a year lol.

Motorsport games could just be what happens when you bring a dozen juvenile apes and a couple of insane masochists into a game development studio, hand them all rubber mallets and trust that they won’t break anything. Then you come back to find the studio in shambles, faeces everywhere, and a pile of human fingers under a shrine dedicated to the owner’s self proclaimed gods. And you claim that everything at your company is working as intended.
