For my two cents on the trans issue (something fairly close to me), I think you guys have it pretty down. My opinion is that trying to even identify problems like gender dysphoria in hormonal pre-teens/teens, is like trying to sort gravel from rocks. You can only really tell for certain when it sticks around past the average point it would, and even then there is the problem of dysphoria being comorbid (might not be using that right but hear me out). Depression and anxiety can cause dysphoria and dysmorphia as side-effects, but can also be caused by those same things. Figuring out which is horse and which is cart is VERY IMPORTANT! So doing irreversible surgery, or severe actions like HRT need to be done with full, understood consent, something a minor legally cannot give. As well, coming from the inside of this issue, lots of promises are made that can't be kept. Bottom surgery is the most egregious case, as there are something like 3 different surgeries, all are mutually exclusive, and all have different effects. And the difference between them often comes down to sexual activity, something a minor, let alone a hormonal one, absolutely should not be trusted in choosing between. At 14-15, you may feel that boys/girls are gross and never want to touch them, or be intensely interested. Same at 16-17, or 12-13. Either way, these feelings shift and change, and making life altering decisions while in that state is just a recipe for disaster. Social transition? Perfectly fine, just make sure a therapist is involved to make sure it's not doing more harm than good. But anything beyond that should remain off the table until you can actually properly understand the decision you are making.
In my opinion the laws are just stupid in america atleast. People say your brain doesnt develop fully till 25. Even you chance of death goes down. But your an adult at 18. You still cant drink a beer but you can switch genders. You can however go to war, own a shotgun,get married, get tattos and other body mods, smoke ciggs, weed. Legit i dont think kids should be able to trans their gender, here is why. A: dont have a fully developed brian, or even a developed enough brian B: it has a life changing effect that cant be reversed C: parents could coax them into doing it when they dont want to since most kids look up to their mom and dads. Also, because kids starts puberty around 11-12 years old. This is when a child begins to learn more about themselves and their body. First they need to mature naturally, both physically and mentally. Trying to force a kid to transition at a young age damages that natural cycle, because before they can learn who they are, they're being forced to change which will have long lasting negative psychological effects.

What I say is leave the kids alone. Let them enjoy being a kid, and when they grow up (mid to late-teens) the parent can teach them more about life, choices and how some choices can have lifelong effects/consequences. Yeah, I love Charlie but completely disagree. A lot of things are personal decisions that will affect the rest of your life. If a child isn't allowed a lot of decision making of their own and laws are there to protect children from irresponsible parents , we have to accept and admit that some decisions cannot be made in their stead. @@kaijukingofthemonsters1075 If we're talking about actual bottom surgery, I think it goes without saying that it absolutely, 100% should NOT be allowed on people under 18, as that procedure is, to my knowledge, only reversible to an extent. This opinion also applies to something like HRT which, to my knowledge, is not always entirely reversible. With that being said, I think it is 100% fine for people under 18 to use puberty blockers. Puberty blockers, according to many major medical organizations (in the US at least) are safe and fully reversible. This is the perfect middle ground to me. It feels like most people who are completely against children "transitioning" simply refuse to do 2 minutes of research online. I'm not personally attacking you, or even saying you're this kind of person, it's just an observation from what I've seen online lately. Many people just refuse to believe that forcing a child, who believes they may have gender dysphoria, to go through puberty can cause physical and mental trauma. What really put it into perspective for me is something that Nogla got close to saying when he was playing devil's advocate. Imagine if your name was Patrick, but everyone around you called you Patricia. You know your name is Patrick, but everyone says you are wrong, and you are Patricia. Personally, that would make my life a living h*ll, for lack of a better phrase. I should note that I am not trans, LGBT+, or in any kind of community. I just think this is a really interesting conversation to have since, to me, there is one side that is so confidently wrong about children and the process by which they are diagnosed with gender dysphoria and the steps that follow it. I know a few trans people, i myself am under the trans umbrella but i'm not transitioned. However i have heard and seen that people who do transition are normally happier at least from what ive seen. body dysmorphia is a very heavy thing to deal with and if transitioning helps you should be able to do it. HOWEVER i believe you should be at least 21 for any surgeries, go to therapy and first start with medication before anything. I think if the world was just a bit more accepting of gender and being who you want (like wearing what you want, pronouns, names, hair etc) then there would be a lot less transitioning because there wouldn't be that pressure of feeling trapped in the wrong body. I also agree everyone should have the ability to have their own beliefs but i feel like more people should try to give their opinions without bashing eachother in a way yk?
I believe you should get mental help just like everyone else that thinks reality is wrong, if I go to my doctor and tell him I just dont feel like my arm belongs on my body and ask him to remove it he'll call me mental, which he should because wanting to mutilate your bodily functions permanently is mental, doesn't mean what they feel is wrong or should be make fun of or targeted but these people need help not encouragement

To answer your question nogla as a transgender teenager, life is hard to navigate especially with my family and society. I don't regret starting my transition process because I feel like a boy and I want to be boy and I know I'm a boy but I also know that biologically that isn't possible, I don't hate my female side because I know that's still apart of me and something that I will always accept, I also don't hate people who think differently then me because I know that's just their opinion and it's their choice to respect me or not. That being said it's my life and I have the right to choose what I do with my body Thank you guys for being respectful about your opinions on the trans topic, I really appreciate that. As a transman my life hasn't gotten easier or harder between pre transition and post transition. For me transitioning resolved somethings and made them better but caused other new problems. The things transitioning makes better gets evened out by the new hardships.

Trans Female here! I've been on HRT for almost a year now and the main reason I had for doing it is just because I never really felt like a male and never wanted to be that. Does that mean I want to be a woman? Nope! I believe there is no way to probably switch from man to woman or woman to man. There's too much factors and societal norms that factor in and it's just impossible. I don't want to completely be a woman. I just wanna get surgery and wear different clothes. If someone deadnames me or misgenders me I barely care, I just laugh. If people don't want to call me certain things I am not going to force them whatsoever honestly. I just go by they/them/she/her and that's it. Nobody has to say that to be if they don't want to. I just want to be myself and be happy and if that doesn't hurt anybody then amazing. Anyways, there's my story. I know I probably deviate from a lot of the norms but that's that.
You got it wrong, you’re a trans woman but not a trans female. You can’t change sex but gender which is social construct even though most people see gender and sex as synonyms (I do). I don’t know why you think it’s impossible to fit the societal norms of the other gender but that’s way more possible than changing sex. I’ve met many women that act completely different and dress differently too yet I treat them all like a women because they look like a female. If you want to be treated like a woman by most people then you simply need to look like a female/sound like a female and HRT will help with the first part and voice training will solve the other part.

I can't remember the name of the study, but the study found a vast majority of children with gender dysphoria will actually desist if they do not transition as a child. So many countries have banned puberty blockers because there is virtually no research on the long term impacts. Lastly, a lot of the procedures considered gender affirming care are just other procedures that have been renamed ("top surgery" is just a double mastectomy, like they do for women with breast cancer). Doctors are lying to these people and ruining their lives.
