Mummy Demastered is a true hidden gem. Looking past the movie inspiration lies a great Metroidvania here.

Weirdly good timing! I've had Mummy Demastered on my Switch wishlist for ages now but have yet to pick it up as it's never gone on sale in that time... until today!

The PS1 Mummy game is a bit of a guilty pleasure. It's a poor man's Tomb Raider, but I dig the PS1-era style and aesthetics.

In addition to Demastered, Wayforward also developed Scorpion King for GBA so it shouldn’t be TOO bad.

I remember borrowing the mummy gbc game from a friend in elementary school. I haven't looked at it since, but it's wild how much worse it looks now than it did in my memories.

Wait, REBELLION made the first Mummy game? Holy crud, they've got so many retro IPs under their belt, ported to current systems! Oh, that's AWESOME!

Being suckered by the Mummy Returns game trailer is so relatable 🤣 I did like the fact that you could dismember the undead folks and use their own body parts against them though. I was like, "whoa! This must be what playing M-rated games feels like!"

The mummy tomb of the dragon emperor on PlayStation 2 is a pain in the rear. I could barely get past the final level where you shoot a turret at hordes of terracotta warriors. I died again and again until I just got lucky. Then fighting the emperor who turns into giant monsters just got frustrating and I gave up on it. Whoever made that game is crazy!

Does anyone here know a giant mummy coffin that u have to jump into. I can't remember the game

Nice run-through of these games. I was a fan of the movies growing up but never played the games because they didn't look great. It's crazy how many games on the PS1 from this generation had tank controls. Even a number of the platformers. Tomb Raider influenced a lot of devs.

What a good video Damn it

I played the Mummy Demastered last year and I quit halfway through it. It’s a decent Metroidvania, but the problem lies in the enemies. Just tons and tons of them constantly spawning at all times. It makes platforming puzzles a huge pain and backtracking a miserable slog. The rooms don’t stay cleared and every time you clear a room and come back, all the monsters are back. I stopped playing when my character got overwhelmed in a corner and died. I tried to go back for my gear but I was in such a horrible position that I would enter the room and immediately get annihilated from off screen by my mummified soldier. Neat game, just incredibly cheap and unfair.

you lose massive points for not turning on the widescreen mode for dragon emperor on ps2 (alongside losing more points for chickening out of the scorpion games. that was odd.)

The mummy returns and the scorpion king on game boy are both better than the animated series on game boy
