I like the way Imhotep gives up when he sees he's been abandoned by his true love. You almost feel sorry for him.

The moment where he catches the knife and throws it back was my all time favorite action moment when I was a kid.

1. The Bad Guys wanted Imhotep to kill the Scorpion King so he could take command of the Army of Anubis so with it, he could take over the world. And they as his loyal followers would be granted power and parts of the world to rule in his name. 2. The reason Imhotep killed those two men on the train was because they needed Alex alive and they were about to botch that.

I love seeing Evy kick some ass in this movie. I love the interaction between Alex and her while she's fighting alongside Ardeth. Alex: Whoa, Mom!! Where'd you learn to do that?! Evy: I have no idea.... (gets grabbed by the throat and backed into an opposite bookshelf, then proceeds to drive her knee into the dude's gut and socks him in the face) THAT I learned from your father.

This was Dwayne Johnson's first acting role, it actually proved so popular they went on to make a Scorpion King movie.

This movie gets lots of hate but in my opinion it is a good sequel with good action and just the right amount of comedy 👍

I loved the insert of The Rock's entrance music when The Scorpion King showed up. That was a nice touch.

Wow, after many a time watching this movie, I never noticed the knife throwing henchman, who managed to survive this long because he ducked everything letting everyone else die, died because Jonathan ducked lol. Also I love how every single kid has the same exact bed time delay tactics.

Because of the actress for Evie being replaced, I didn't even watch The Mummy 3. Once Rachel Weisz didn't come back, that was it for me.

it's a blimp, not a dirigible. No superstructure. It wasn't just the Hindenberg that ended airship travel... the Shenandoah disaster pretty much ended it in the US. Other than superstructure, a major difference between a blimp and a dirigible is that a blimp uses neutral helium, while a dirigible uses very reactive hydrogen.

The little one managed to stealthily hustle some extra screen time for the day XD

Just one thing, Zeppelins were already being used before this movie, they were operational for commercial flight in the 1910's (the movie is in the 1930's). The Hindenburg tragedy was in 1937, which pretty much ended the use of Zeppelins. Also, the channel you are talking about that did a better version of the Scorpion King I assume is "Corridor Digital". A fun fact is that one of the guys that works for that channel is the son of the artist that designed the various stages of decomposition of the mummy and other stuff for these movies (the artist is Alex Laurant, he worked many years at ILM), his son also did some extra work as a kid in a crowd the first movie and motion-capture for the zombie-pygmy creatures in The Mummy Returns.

i love the first movie because it takes itself just serious enough while delivering at least decent horror sometimes and has a sprinkle of cheese and humor i live this one cause its almost the opposite where it's more silly and over the top with a sprinkle of seriousness in it I can definitely see where one can be favord over the other depending on the person

This Scorpion King is a descendant of the one with his own films. Unlike the bookshelves, the pillars did not fall in a single take. As you noted, the mansion would be used in Batman Begins. Brendan thought it would be more in character for the family to have a modest home, but the mansion fit the planned fight scenes better. His reaction to walking in to see this was basically "Huh. Neat." Jonathan was supposed to hide in a dry tub, but John Hannah suggested filling it with bubbles. He was stoic about the resulting knee injury after he slipped. They did account for the missing mummy during the chase scene. (Only three of the four are dealt with in the final film.) The jump scare was cut out because they thought the audience would think the scene ran too long. *Nefertiri?* The name was changed to avoid giggles.

Fun fact: the opening shot of the ancient city was *not* all CGI. It was a physical model mixed with CGI elements. Also... The old cult leader was played by Alun Armstrong, who is best know by fans of "Next Tricks" as Brian Lane. He played the king of Thieves in the movie *KRULL.* Another great movie you should be watching.

The first is more like an action Horror adventure movie this sequel is more like a big blockbuster it takes the more mainstream elements of the first and expands on them into an Indiana Jones type movie. This sequel is fine but lacks the horror of the first the spin-off Scorpion King movie is also fine.

If I remember right, Dwayne had a prior contract commitment that was scheduled at the same time they were to film the ending fight scene and they were on a deadline so they opted for a CGI Rock-Scorpion monster.

i saw this one before the original as a kid, and while i can see now that it's not quite the same quality, i still adore it. adewale akinnuoye-agbaje as lock-nah was possibly one of my first crushes ("what are you talking about? i missed."), not to mention evelyn with daggers. izzy the pilot still has one of my most-quoted lines: "last time, i got shot in the arse! i'm in MOURNING for my ARSE!" still a classic to me.

Another case of evil against evil. The people who resurrected Imhotep wanted to be part of the ruling class, with him as their leader, because he would reward them for bribing him back to life and giving him the opportunity to claim the army of Anubis. The Scorpion King, however, answered to Anubis and would have enslaved humanity in his name, so he would not care about any followers who brought him back and would likely kill them anyway. Knowing how powerful Imhotep could become, they knew he was the winning horse, since his curse made him stronger than even the powers Anubis gave the Scorpion King. If Anubis had not wanted Imhotep o fight him fairly, Imhotep could have killed the Scorpion King in ten seconds and taken command of his army. The backstory is explained that the black and gold books, the Alcott of Hamunaptra, and even Imhotep’s role as the priest who keeps the dead we’re all part of keeping the information on how to awaken the Scorpion King secret. That’s why those flashbacks tie into the present; Rick and Eveline, their son, Imhotep, and Anck Su Namun all played a role in the past and now the present in the story of the Scorpion King and the fated day of his release upon the world. This puts the first movie into a whole new light, as it shows that Imhotep was never really the true enemy; despite his more powerful curse, it was the Scorpion King’s awakening that Imhotep was fated to take part in, and his ruling the earth on his own was never a thing that was going to happen, so he was cursed for 3,000 years to suffer for nothing, especially when his bitch girlfriend abandoned him in the end. He was never even the true villain of his own story, and got upstaged by the Scorpion King, who only had ten minutes screen time in the whole series (the Scorpion King’s own movie series not counted in this case).

I liked the first one because it had less CGI and was somewhat less hokey. But I liked the romantic parts of the second one. For an adventure movie with some comedy both movies are ok. They’re entertaining.

Hey, guys! If you enjoyed this saga, you should watch The Scorpion King (2002). It has the same sense of adventure that The Mummy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie when I saw it in theaters. However the CGI Scorpion Rock has always been bad even when this movie was new.
