I know they couldn’t have done this show like the movies, but seeing the puppeteers kind of takes away the magic that the muppet show and the muppet movies have off
No it doesn't. It brings the magic to life even more. Puppetry is a fascinating form of art. Your attention is supposed to be drawn to the puppets rather than the puppeteers. However, when you look at the performers you get to see how they work and appreciate the work. As a puppet performer, we do more than just make silly characters.
Jim Henson even explained in a documentary of puppetry why it is alright to have the puppet and the performer to be present in an appearance. Your attention is immediately drawn to the character
