I will NEVER forget Emma, every day praying for her safe return. A vulnerable young girl brutally murdered & sexually assaulted by a heartless, evil man. Fortunately they got him for both cases but 23 years is an insult. Should be 2 life sentences, consecutive. I hope the parole board denies him release ever. Thank you for covering her case, new sub. RIP Emma & much love to her family, she was our Christchurch girl. 🙏❤️

The sheer amount of technology used to identify the evil person is just amazing. Not to mention the hours and hours that skilled technicians worked to find Emmas killer. Such sheer dedication must feel so rewarding when they id and send the killer to prison.

The MORONIC word evil is purely a human construct. There will only EVER BE human physiology to correctly explain all human behaviour. Please try to correctly reeducate yourself as to why we as both individuals and a society think and behave the way we do. We are CONDITIONED to think and therefore behave a certain way eg, good people cannot help themselves to be anything other than good, well the very same applies to the indifferent and the bad people of the world. It ALL lies in how our uniquely independent physiology was developed from early childhood, it is that VERY PHYSIOLOGY that DICTATES ALL OUR BEHAVOUR.

His wife was his lawyer. She fell in love with him, smuggled contraband into jail for him, married him in jail, and lost her registration. Certain women marry inmates because: A prisoner can't cheat on you (well not with other women) A prisoner becomes so reliant on you, it makes you feel special You think you can redeem them The prisoner convinces you that you are the only thing that keeps them going A prisoner is less likely to be judgmental of you As contact is limited, you feel the time with the prisoner is more special

Respect to the thorough forensic & detective work put into this case to catch him. But that the case isn’t publicly available for everyone to attend.

To a new and unbelievable way that forensics is now pretty much the almighty and coppers are there for the scut work and to make sure it all fits neatly to that one elusive criminal now no longer the bad guy fighting the coppers and detectives who were once the movie stars of the show. What worries me is how many more women would he have attacked and murdered if he hadn't been caught. He obviously thought he killed the 2nd young woman as well as poor Emma. Thankfully, this lady survived & was able to assist in the investigation. The work the police & scientists put into solving these cases was amazing. They knew they would only stop if 1. They caught him or 2. They could'nt get anything else from the evidence. Thankfully, they got both. It was good also to see 2 of those involved originally came from here in Northern Ireland. Well, done Gillian Chandler & Gary Gillespie for the part you both played. I would recognise that accent anywhere.

Admittedly, I'm not well versed in how the NZ justice system works, but to my American mind, that sentence didn't even remotely fit the crime. And then they _reduced_ it by 3 years?! Uh... What?l That poor family. That's not justice. Emma's life is/was worth so much more than that.

I may be a nn ungrateful person. But for people like me who've seen hundreds of real crime interviews, documentaries, and other videos, I know about the science behind an investigation. To me these videos are boring and way to informative. If I'd introduce a new person to the true crime world these are great. But it's enough with a few of those very extensive videos. We don't need the investive introduction every single time!
