I agree with Jeremy about the horror dilemma, it has potential of being so much more, but is flooded with a lot of paint by number formulas. It is one of the few genres that excels at making you feel uncomfortable, much like a Kaufman or Lynch film, and isn't afraid to end on a bad note. It doesn't require a happy ending like most films who change their ending to suit the general public. I find this ruins art, to take the creators/writers intended vision and water it down for easy consumption. Let the chef prepare supper. I just finally watched I'm Thinking of Ending Things a couple of weeks ago....loved it! It's one of the few Kaufman films I don't already own, also check out Human Nature...
