Bonniwell was a creative genius that never achieved the fame, fortune and recognition that he deserved. He had a turbulent life and I'm not sure that he ever found true happiness. Looking back he was certainly among the most creative rock musicians of that period.
LL cool J and Jay Z are in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Yet, Sean Bonniwell, Arthur Lee, Larry Williams, Chubby Checker and Connie Francis are not. History will not be kind to these egregious choices by people who should and do know better.
@@daverice1650 To top it off so many of the people/groups in the "Rock 'n Roll HOF" aren't even rock musicians or groups. I personally don't consider Rap music or Boy Bands as forms of rock and have no idea why some of these performers are inducted into something supposedly honoring Rock 'n Roll. Just my 2 cents.
I have to heartily agree that it is especially egregious that Arthur Lee and Love aren't in the R&R HOF, especially considering that they created what many consider one of the finest (if not THE finest) albums of the psychedelic era/later '60s-- "Forever Changes".
@@jaymudd2817 I've heard the song before but not this creative video. The Music Machine were so far ahead of their time but the Ramones, Michael Jackson and New Wavers got it.
My social life's a dud. My name is really mud. Hey man I can absorb the music with my ears but wih the video, I can absorb the music with my eyes at the same time. A double edged assault of the senses with maximum impact. Twice the pleasure. Another fine band from the City of Angels. Great song.
This is a revelation to me. The video is a marvel. And the song, how it just builds into fever pitch, then departs politely with the string section alone. Masterful.
Original sound was their first label. they had state of the art recording way back he wrote in his book "Beyond the Garage" we used to chat via emails and i got the book and a signed copy of CD's i also gifted him a painting i did 16x20 i shipped to Calif from Massachusetts. He told me it was one of his prized possesions and he had it hanging in his den.. Thanks Sean
Pale and wanton, white dry lipstick Part girl whole woman, and her heart goes tock tick She feels indecision, she's seeking wrong from right Fears of inhibition, she’s dark white Crowd of windows, it seems people know she She gave herself to love entirely, she feels lost and ran-down Searching for some insight, she feels loved but abandoned Oh she's dark white [Instrumental] Gotta have you here beside me I need your love girl I do Gotta have you here beside me Come get me here I'm here for you You need me I know I want you to know I’ve got to have you come girl now I need you tonight I know you're dark white But I've got to have you anyhow You've got to call, call and get me I know you know it's all alright I need your loving Stop and think and you're dark white I need you yes I do, yes I need your help I've got to have your burst of love You know I need, need your loving I've got to have your burst of love You’ve got to call, you’ve got to come You've got to come get me, I know you know it’s over Girl I need, need a lover Stop and think and you're dark white
A mystery that has long confounded me, has been solved, thanks to this channel. I first heard this song (or part thereof) 40 years ago in a documentary about The Tate/La Bianca murders. It's use in that disturbing story was extremely effective & I've never forgotten it. After all these years I can now ascribe an artist & name to this superb track. Thank you. I love it 🙂
natural beautiful people with not a tattoo in sight visually blending with the vibes of the lyrics and hypnotic music, perfect, love everything and appreciate the effort put into your brilliant videos 😎
It's uncanny how well the visuals match the song, especially the trampoline part. Chelsea models were quite something in the sixties and the song is just perfect. What a time. I just hope to see a similar revival in pop culture that can match it one day. Late nineties weren't too bad either if you were around twenty then but this is still the real deal.
Nice Very under rated band Video is great. I gave this a thumbs up. PS I just came across your channel. Amazing so many Garage bands from the 60s I grew up remembering the Music Machine song Talk Talk always loved that song.
Check out his solo album ‘Close’ if you can find it. Hauntingly beautiful ballads. I was able to give him a copy several years ago before his passing. I was surprised he didn’t even have copy himself.
Enjoy the hidden gem aspect of this song now, before a hipster writer includes it in the soundtrack for a show on some corporate streaming service and this comments section gets flooded with normies.
No it wasnt released until 1984 but obviously recorded around 67. Incredible such a great track was unreleased until then. If i have it right the 1984 release was a slowed down version that Sean Bonniwell was not happy at all with. This the correct version didnt surface until 2014.
I WOULD HAVE LIKED THIS SO MUCH BETTER......... if this wasn't the intro song to The Helter Skelter Murders. To top it off one of the models in this resembles Sharon Tate.
Charlie Manson was a deluded man who fell into the San Francisco scene just at the time when the flotsam and jetsam of a society at war with itself took him to be something he really wasn't. I have listened and read a lot by and about Manson and he was a mirror to many people, they took his hollow double-speak to be somehow prophetic and real. He then became a hollow man, a figure or an icon that various groups and ideas were attached to by people who saw it in their interests to do so. But this song is pure art, and Charlie Manson was more like an empty violent sociopathic freak. Apart from the film, which has lots of good music in it, I don't see any reason to associate the two.
Thank you! THIS IS the name of the film/documentary I mentioned in a comment elsewhere here, but, couldn't put a name to. All the pieces have fallen into place after 40 years!
