The Guts Theme is synonymous with the struggles of life and by extension life itself. The score has just as much range as life does with all of its ups and downs
Your reflection on Behelit being used in every major stage of our cast heading toward the Eclipse is actually pretty profound and accurate. I always got this "something isn't right" type of feeling anytime it came on. Like a moment to stop and ask "Are we heading in the right direction? What am I doing here?" It being used as a funnel into and reflection of the Elcipse in retrospect is awesome. Truly great stuff. Shit im only a few minutes into the video
Thanks bro! That was honestly just me really analyzing every scene it’s in and really it’s just personal take so it’s good to hear that at least to another person sounds like a good one lol
Especially when you add in the whole causality thing its almost like its the theme of that causality leading to the god hand and Griffiths joining to them. And the Behelit is the physical representation of that causality
This video was the reason I found your channel and I’ve been binging all your videos over the last few days. Quite possibly my favorite RU-vid channel in such a long time. Keep up the great work!
hey everyone for some of you this will be a reupload after it got removed by RU-vid Because of the panel that showed Guts butt cheeks I'm gonna miss your original comments so so SO much but if you can id really appreciate if you all could watch the reupload and leave some great comments lets get this video up there!
I’ve listened to Murder almost daily since the first time I watched the show (7 years) and I still haven’t gotten tired of it. It is one of my favorite pieces of music ever made.
Love the analysis of the Guts theme & the concept of this song making one meditate about their purpose & ambitions is very relatable. Almost like it is a secret technique passed down by the Colbowirtz family for over 300 years.
Guts theme is sound of finding my place in this world. It's the sound of feeling lost, not in sadness but in an introspective mood. If curling into a ball in a dark room with the door slightly cracked open was a soundtrack. It's the guts theme..
Being eclectic is so underrated in music. Being able to bob and weave to different genres can give an artist such longevity career-wise. Plus, it's awesome as a listener to be able to get different feelings and moods all from the same artist. One-stop-shop.
Murder literally still scares me to this day. Even now, it makes me still dread the Eclipse any time I watch it, and I don't think any other song has done that for me.
-behilit is like a bad omen thatst inevitable but relaxing like giving in to some sort of hallucination mixed with reality it captures the intro of the 97 anime perfectly the song is also named after a devil which makes it creepy but its still slow making the danger seem somewhat distant all while keeping the medieval tone.. the mood of many themes in berserk like causailty and fate are captured with behilit -earth is very relaxing and chilled and has avery medival tone it gives the vibe of a vast world and nature filled with unknown mysteries and opportunities it captures the journey of guts in the moments of meditation he has in between the hardships its also a main example why the 2017 anime missed the ambiance of berserk with the ecpeption of "beacon of fire" -fear+monster+murder+ghost the brutality and horror and gore and mercilessness of berserk are all mixing the gritiness of the real world and its unrevaersable consequences with the otherworldly powers in my opinion its a mix between the movies hellraiser and lord of the rings -forces is the heat of the action the original track is somewhat military in its tone it gets the 90s action music check which is necissary to every anime masterpiece in my book the remixes in the videogames are very good plus other gems which i wont go deep -guts it speaks for itself its the human side of guts and tragedy of his story and struggle it probably needs its own comment to analys.
Earth really makes me feel like life is real. Like our experiences matter and that there is more to come. A dawn breaking after a day so good that you thought it might be a dream. But it's not a dream
I didn’t comment on the original video but I wanna say now how happy I am someone’s paying attention to this whole soundtrack man it’s so amazing and you present it in such a cool way in your video production :-)
There exists a RU-vid video where someone (a security guard?) uploaded a video of Guts Theme playing over the mall PA speakers full blast at like 3am. It’s just a lockdown shot of the music echoing through the empty mall at night. It’s amazing. I’d highly suggest searching for it.
It’s a shame youtube took down the old one but rest assured we love you and are glad you didn’t give up. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. 477 out of 10, would watch this again.
currently the best channel on the platform. sorry to hear about this video being taken down. IMO its your best so far and please do this for Bleach's OST its equally amazing. Love you internet pitstop
this is one of the best anime channels I’ve ever seen. You’re funny and personable and not as gatekeepery as other channels. You can tell you really like this and it’s not something you hold on to because it’s your whole personality. Chefs kiss. Great job. Please keep going.
the gigguk memes were unexpected and killed me off with laughter, great vid my dude. my mate put me on to your vids and ive been binging them all, gotta say this is some of the best content out there
I'm so glad this video showed up in my recommended feed! I love berserk with all my being, but the berserk 97 ost in specific is so incredibly dear to me. My spouse and I chose Gatsu as our recessional song at our wedding, and I got a berserk tattoo with the opening measures of Gatsu last month... so happy to see someone going into detail with this piece of art that has moved me so much :)
I remember the first time i heard guts theme and having the feeling of exactly what you described of “things will get better” and its one of those tracks ill always return to for that reason but after watching the anime and starting to read it ive fallen in love with it even more
I finally watched the 97 Berserk after it being on my to-watch list for years now and I'm annoying everyone in my life because I just can't stfu about how great the soundtrack is. Glad to know there's someone who appreciates it as much as I do. I hit that subscribe button immediately.
I watched this video without knowing much about berserk, I'm back now again after watching the 1997 anime, and I'm reading the manga, I'm getting my life together, struggling, but there is a beauty in this. Thanks IP, genuinely love this
You as a creator is why I love RU-vid, because for every trend chasing wannabe flexer, their are creators like you who make content they are passionate for and put all their love and care into. Keep making great videos and stay cool 😎.
The original upload is what lead me to discover your channel. The content made me stay lol. Great analysis on the Berserk soundtrack, look forward to more from you!
Really awesome video man. "Earth" is my favorite song in this soundtrack. To me it represents the Band of the Hawk at their epitome of fame, success, and comradery. I mostly love the bag pipes beginning of the song. So much that I made an hour long loop of it lol. Hope your channel blows up much more. Thanks for releasing on my birthday!
Man, so great to see this video back up. This is the video that I found your channel through bc of how much the algorithm promoted it and I ended up binging your entire channel in about a week. Keep up the great work, man.
that's awesome to hear thank u for not only enjoying this vid but going out of your way to watch my others that means a lot! and lets hope the algorithm blesses this upload just as much!
Yo why is this one of the best videos on this website? I love this soundtrack and I’ve been waiting for someone to say and breakdown what I think a lot of people had been feeling about this soundscape for a while. The humor mixed with the deep analysis made this video gold in all respects. Definitely do more anime soundtrack breakdowns! So as a side note, the breakdown you did for Ghosts made me laugh so hard because I have totally been jamming to this soundscape in my car and some dude was looking at me like “what on Earth is happening over there”. Wrong song buddy lol Edit: I’d say my favorite and it’s definitely close is Murder followed by Earth or Gatsu
I remember as a child hearing Guts for the first time when my brother watched a pirated version of the show and I've never been the same since. That's the song I pull out whenever I feel too much or can't describe what is going on. That's the song I dissociate to but also that just makes me feel so hopeful and a weird sense of it's getting better. Makes me remember that after a certain point it really can't get worse anymore even if it doesn't look like that yet.
Ive been craving for videos going over the ost of anime/games and just gushing about it in depth. This definitely hits the spot. Would love to see one for MIA someday
Im brazilian and just got to know your channel (by the video about 90y animes aesthetics and the video about spike), idk how u have only this little bunch of subs, but u deserve much more, i am one of the many others u will achieve. ILY bro🤘
There are also amazing songs from games and 2016 anime for example Indra, Guitare '1123, Forces 2, Guitare '1135 and this awesome mix called ''Berserk lofi hip hop beats to w̶a̶i̶t̶ o̶u̶t̶ a̶ h̶i̶a̶t̶u̶s̶ mourn to. RIP Kentaro Miura'', great video.
I think you should start this series again very soon and talk about the music of Air Gear. Also this video got me to finally start watch 97 Berserk all the way though. I think it was 2015 when I was sick and binged up until the beginning of the Conviction Arc and haven't touched the manga since. I plan on catching up at some point...
I watched the original upload and subscribed to your channel I really enjoyed your breakdown on the whole soundtrack of berserk especially after I just finished watching the 97 show and movies keep making these style of videos they are unique and fresh
This video is how I found your channel. I support you 100%! Love your breakdown/review. Once I subscribed, I binged everything else. It’s not a pit stop but an awesome destination I come back to from time to time
Hey man, so many of your videos hit in such a big way. You manage to pick niche subjects that have such a personal element for me, and I'm sure many others. And in that way your videos let us know that something special is shared amongst strangers who nurse the same whispers in their hearts. Don't stop doing what you're doing if it feels right, and my thanks to you. T
Watched this after having just finished berserk and it helped midigate a little bit of the depression of never being able to see it continued in the same show, so thanks! Still loving the shit out of the manga so far tho.
I have a huge soft spot for the music created for Ai Yazawa's NANA. I love the manga and anime. Love her art and manga in general. But they have amazing punk tracks and k-pop style tracks. Granted it's about a character who ends up being the roommate to a lead singer of a band.
Bro, I hear so many Nujabes tracks in the background of your videos. I’m eagerly awaiting your breakdown of Samurai Champloo’s OST and Nujabes-the absolute GOAT when it comes to ambient music
i'm glad to finally see a video appreciating this soundtrack as it's one of my favorites for anything ever. honestly i cannot imagine reading the manga without having it playing in the background as it's too integral to the experience of the story to me. also thank you for having a section dedicated to hirasawa himself, he is one of my favorite musicians ever and i always love seeing more appreciation for him as he doesn't get much outside the east. i'm absolutely subscribing just for that and the chrono trigger pfp
God, man, this is so good. One of the soundtracks I can legit hear in my dreams. I`m really really looking forward to you analyzing more OSTs!! Personally, some IMO hugely underrated masterpieces that nobody ever seems to talk about are a) the OST for the original Hellsing series (dark jazz funk neoclassic gothic?), which is literally the main reason I cannot warm up to Hellsing Ultimate (which opted for a more generic horror ambient sound), and b) one of my personal hidden gems, Last Exile... just like, listen to the opening (titled Cloud Age Symphony) and you`ll know what I mean. LIke yeah, sure, I`d also love to hear more about Champloo or Bebop, but honestly my heart lies with the underdogs, the overlooked masterpieces. In the end though, I just hope you continue to talk about the stuff you love - that`s why I subscribed to you, that`s what I love about your content. Keep doing you, man!
I only started watching anime a couple years ago so there’s a lot of RU-vidrs that talk about series I’ve never seen. But your channel is one of the only ones where I can actually relate to almost every video!
while I can't comment on the anime side of things, for VGM I also really wish there were more people talking about OSTs song by song. there are thooousands of criminally underrated VGM songs that get maybe 1/10000th of the views of some of the more popular ones. and also I wish more fans/creators talked about the many niche, less well known composers than just the same super popular auteurs of VGM like Uematsu, Mitsuda, Koji Kondo, etc. all the time. love this vid and Berserk 97s OST as well. not too familiar with anime soundtracks in general (yet?) but Susumu Hirasawa is one of the few I'm familiar with and he's always touched my soul
I remember the third time I lost a familiar (the worst kind of grief I ever felt, she was only 6 months), I kept myself together through the day but when it was time to go to bed I put Guts theme and cried my heart out. The song kept me company for the whole breakdown and felt like a mirror of my pain, love, relieve my baby wasn't in pain anymore but also missing her, nostalgia for the life we couldn't share and how powerless i felt for months. By the end, the song for me is acceptance of everything I have ever felt and gone through and the absolute calm and peace that comes with the ability to know how to let go. Absolutely one of my favorites of all time.
This video was the reason I found your channel and I’ve been binging all your videos over the last few days. Quite possibly my favorite RU-vid channel in such a long time. Keep up the great work!(2)
Guts’ Theme gives me a feeling of hope just as much as it does depression. Peace as much as destruction. Introspection and self assuredness. It manages to convey so much emotion, both positive and negative emotions, with just 1 single song and stands to me as one of the best character themes not just in anime but in all entertainment, period. Guts’ theme is one of those songs that transcends being a theme for a character. It’s a masterpiece.
I love your interpretation of the Gatsu song, I feel a different way but I love to hear other people's views. I viewed it as disaster after disaster with no hope beyond your own effort. I saw it synonymous with dread and hopelessness, and I'm glad some people have a different take. I wish I knew about this manga earlier, but I watched Berserk in 2019 and thought that the anime was all that there was. The manga as a whole has inspired me a ton to this day. Thanks for making this video
Dang what timing, was listening to an hour long loop of the guts theme in the car yesterday. What a song to zone out and just think about life. The 97 Berserk is the best version, similar to Hunter x Hunter, it just exudes grit and atmosphere like no other iteration.
Between you and hazel I think I've found the best anime content on youtube. As more of a casual anime watcher, I don't know why the youtube algorithm has decided to bless me of all people but I'm glad it has lol
