What a great country Italia is… where the best ever sound composer, Ennio Morricone and the best ever movie director Sergio Leone came from the same elementary school and same class.
My dad was a commando in WW2 (8th Army, 9 Commando) he saw active service in North Africa, Italy and Greece. When he retired my mum and dad moved to Exmouth in Devon. Close to CTCRM (Commando Training Centre Royal Marines) Limpstone. My dad was a very quiet, unassuming man who did not garner public adoration. But when he passed away I was very surprised to see probably around 30 serving Marines attend his funeral. They came to honour an old soldier who'd served over 50 years previously. Marines are in a league of their own.
I'm italian. Sometimes I think about what was the feeling and the thinkink of those young boys who are involved in the second world war. A great sacrifice. A fortune is to be safe and to get older after that period of crazyness. Thanks to your father and the others. Imagine like also me was at his funeral, I was with my heart 👋
Marines neve forget their family members. When a veteran passes it is literally like losing a family member. I am sorry about your loss. He sounds like a wonderful human being. RIP
Danke an alle Mitwirkenden... Hervorragende Leistung ‼️👍🏻💖👋🏻
Marines are magnificent. My uncle stormed the beaches of Peleliu Island (Macarthur was taking back the Phillipines) losing an arm & awarded the purple heart. He was always grateful to have one arm left he said! 1st Division Marine Corp suffered 6,500 casualties but won the day. What utter guts! Think about that number & not giving in. When he died 60+ yrs later a full contingent arrived draping the coffin in the flag & carried him out. Marines never forget their fellow warriors. Fierce in battle but superb gentle men in peacetime. If your lucky enough to have one as a neighbour know that you are safe. Marines are the finest men God put on this earth. Balls of steel. Let`s hear it for the Marines.
And played all over the world by many orchestras, bands, rocks groups, café musicians, military band. and others. It will never grow old and will be played for decades to come. Ennio Morricone was a genius.
It is sad that it did not get the recognition back then that it enjoys now. Ennio Morricone was a genius and ahead of his time. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly was not well received in the US when it first came out. Now it is a world wide cult film. Sergio Leone chose Morricone to score the films and let the music tell the story since there was little dialogue.
@@maryleone2023 Yes, it is very sad. The US could not accept a western done by others that was better than what they made. It was the movie going public that saw the genius of Morricone and Leone. In a different time films like GBU would have won Academy Awards. Morricone should have won at several Academy Awards prior to The Hateful Eight. The Mission, The Untouchables, Battle of Algiers, Once Upon A Time in the West, Bugsy. And there are several more that should have been nominated. A friend of mine has visited Europe many times and he said many cafes and restaurants have trios or piano players, or violinists who play Morricone music for people to listen to as they dine. He was a genius and we are fortunate they they still release his music today.
@@garfieldsmith332 Yes, it was unaccetable that "Spaghetti Western" were actualy better than most films made by the "Yanks" and hence they were regarded as B-movies and held back until the audience realized what the truth was and finaly they started shinning as deserved; Ennio Morricone just spread that magic over those films and made them all eternal for us to enjoy.
These Royal Marines will challenge the very best that any US Forces Bands can muster. This old, Retired US Army Sergeant Major renders a Hand Salute to your Talented music!!
I was there at the Albert Hall in 2003 when Ennio Morricone performed these timeless pieces before a packed audience with the Rome symphony orchestra. The band of the Royal Marines really do justice to his work in this deeply moving performance.
When 'The Big Fella' blows his Horn @ 7:22 secs, it made me feel so proud to be one of their 'Brothers in Arms' - (Part-time musicians they may be, but also Full-time Marines).
In front of certain masterpieces you remain speechless. An orchestra of great quality has been able to exalt the harmonies of one of the greatest composers of our time. The talented Maestro Morricone.
I play in the The Bands of HM Royal Marines at the moment. Are you referring to our band. I know that we are a very high quality but i haven't heard being referred to best in the world before. When i joined it , it was called Her majestys Royal Marine band. We have members all over the world. I am based in Australia but we do a lot of travelling for band engagements. It was very, very, sad when the Queen passed away.
@@elizabethmcintyre8529 I am a huge introvert & never talk up myself but i feel a bit chuffed. Thank you for your reply. It will inspire me to strive & give theat extra 5-10% to keep that number 1 ranking.
The entire performance is incredible. A visual, auditory, emotional tour de force. The most moving part for me is the saxophone 🎷 playing “The Untouchables”. It brings tears to my eyes remembering that sad scene 😢🙏🏻
I was A Man With No Name fan as a child growing up. It made me into a cinephile. It is my opinion, that Morricone is simply the best movie composer who ever lived. The proof. With each year the music gets better - yet is the same. Every time I hear this music, I can't stop crying - it is that good. The man was a genius. Morreconi is simply the best movie composer who ever lived. The proof. With each year the music gets better
I love all Ennio's soundtracks. Seeing that his music is appreciated and so well played out of his Country literally moved me to tears. Thank you for such a precious gift. Dario from Italy.
It's hard to imagine going up against these folks in any circumstances. It doesn't take a lot of Marines to overwhelm a concert hall or a battlefield. This is exceptional -- over the top. So well done.
Sorry my english ist not für best...thank you so much. This ist awesome. In the First 2 min i had tears in my eyse. Don't know why. Because i am a soldier, i grew Up with Clint Eastwood, enio Morricone, or the unbelivable Sound and voice ?! I am without words. Thank's so much!!!
Your English is EXCELLANTE' Dude. Or Madam. . ... Your Lucid. Precise. Humble. And Respectful. Just Like this Music that I'm arriving late to.. . Who Could Ask for Anything More 🎵?🎶🎶🎶 (Besides Punctuality on the behest of the typist..)
I loved this performance! What a wonderful tribute to Ennio Morricone! Your musicians are first rate and the sound produced was incredible! My hat is off to you and I salute you all.....Will Ortiz (Florida, USA)
Grazie.
Oh my god, we all know you are all fantastic but this medley is just amazing. The trumpets, her voice, the rest of the orchestra just stunning, gives me goose bumps each time I listen.
The music of Morricone always grabs me by the throat. And how wonderfully played here. The image plays in your mind of all the characters who starred in those movies. Bronson,Fonda,Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef etc. The power of Morricone's music remains. And how beautifully portrayed here. Words are insufficient
Ennio Morricone, Hats off to you Sir. Brilliant Score! I should also with respect give my greatest respect to these Brilliant People that brought this to life! Far more skill and talent than I have in Music! John, Australia.
A beautiful tribute to a wonderful composer. but this medley is just amazing. The trumpets, and the orchestra just stunning, gives me goose bumps each time I listen. This is a pleasure to listen to incredibly well done, thanks
Somewhere, far up in the rafters, a dapper old man, with a certain familiar look about him, although you can't quite work out why, looks down upon this exhibition of musical genius, and he smiles. He knows these pieces pretty well, after all...
