Imagine seeing them for the first time and they play like this ? Fookin epic. If everyone in that theatre never left mesmerised, then I'd be astounded.
As I understand it, Robert Harvey, the lead singer, his drug addiction got in the way. As a band, though, they lasted from 1999 to 2011, and put out 3 albums, which pretty much flew under the radar.
Ben Hughes And three awesome albums they were, it's a shame, maybe they just didn't fit into a scene as they weren't very image orientated, but that's what i liked about them.
The drug addiction doesn't surprise me. I feel like Robert was riding a really hard wave that took him to really high heights in terms of performance but the energy was a bit too hardcore to be sustainable.
Fuckin Unreal. I saw them in Vancouver in 2005 a the Commodore Ballroom, a very famous venue. I'm up to 60+ concerts there and this one just has to be the best. Unrivaled energy, presence and passion. LOVE this band. Incredible.
man this band deserves more recognition!! They are so underrated. You know what? They don't have to be that popular, I'm going to listen to this song 6 times in a row...awesome band!
I remember this performance.... Damn, I miss those cats!!!!! And yes, it was brutal to search them on the internet! Big ups to Rob, Adam, Stu and Phil!
Saw them at Manchester Apollo absolutely f#$#in Brill gig from a great band, and I was 16 in 1970 so seen loads if great bands but these lads are awesome,👍
The lead guitar Adam has a new podcast and they have a new show coming in May 2021! www.musicandmorepodcast.com/ Proof of show: songkick.seetickets.com/event/the-music/temple-newsam/1622804#op1
saw Kasabian open for them in 2005. their set was pandemonium. such high intensity, everyone dripping sweat, people going up on stage non-stop, to the point where Rob plead with the crowd to stop coming up. I've seen hundreds of concerts since then, but I often think of that night. LOVE this band....too bad they never returned to Vancouver. Was sad to hear they ended. Love strength in number and use to follow Rob on myspace.
I love the guy at 3:53. A cuddly American grandpa who looks very conservative but has a really good sense of humour and appreciation for a strong, wacky performance.
Remember seeing 'em do this on TOTP (UK for any non-Brits if anyone at all reads this) in 2002 - & still remember the slack-jawed feeling afterwards. Epic. I get what some ppl saying about image - scally joy-riders - BUT for me it ADDS rather than subtracts their appeal. They look like the kind of kids our so-called cultural/political elites don't - STILL don't - give a damn about (as I know from personal experience). And being Northern (me too) - 2 fingers up if you don't like/get it. Some things are more important than just money/success - unless you LIKE 'whoring-it-up' (fine 4 U if that's yer 'bag'). They are what they are, they did what they did - deal with it.
I first saw them when they opened for the Vines. This is when an opening act blows away the headliners. Mesmerizing. And all the boys who could dance at raves (back before they became corporate) wore those pants. Gave them magic powers (lol) but Rob is one of a kind and so is The Music.
So much talent, so much charisma, and so much bad management. Why the fuck didn't their poxy manager just say... ''Right, fellas. Can understand the irony and humour in calling y'selves ''The Music'', but it ain't gonna work. Ya need a new name!' .... Could've been as big as Kasabian... Think they should re-release their best 12 tracks under a new name. Could work. Such an under-rated band.
